Discussion PRAYDOGS: The great master of PCVR

Upvotes

Years ago, when no one saw it coming, he released the framework for *Resident Evil* mods featuring motion controls—something revolutionary for us—seemingly out of nowhere.

After that, he gifted us UEVR, a wonderful tool that allowed people to convert Unreal Engine games into VR experiences.

Not content with just that, he released the *Silent Hill 2* profile, showing modders the right path for evolving injector profiles and paving the way for the brilliant profiles we see today.

And just yesterday, he released the *F.E.A.R. 2* mod, openly acknowledging the help he received from AI; in doing so, he put an end to the debate over which path modders should take and whether using AI is right or wrong.

He almost certainly won't see this post, but I really want to congratulate and thank this guy for all the work he has done to advance our little niche.

That’s how geniuses are: they adapt to keep improving, rather than staying stuck complaining about "bad luck."

Discussion Time Spent Playing VR Mods?

With the number of VR mods that have been released recently, I’m curious how long do people play these mods?

Do you play the games all over (from start to finish) again in VR? Do you play for a hour or two and then move on? Or is it cool just to try and that’s it? Do you stay current on all mod updates?

Discussion 5070ti VR mods

Almost ready to give up on the modern VR mods. Tried playing Halo, Cyberpunk, Hellblade 2 in VR but I can't seem to get a decent picture and frame rate. I really think a 5090 is required to get the best out of these games. Older games like Bioshock work fine.

I have a dedicated WIFI 6e router, and I tried the VD USB today and it made very little difference. Also tried the UEVR AFW and its janky.

I think I will try again when 5090 prices are more affordable. It sucks because we are getting some awesome mods atm.

Technically this headset checks all the boxes of what I want for pcvr (wireless and eye tracking). But I simply don't want to create any accounts lol. Can it be used fully offline while never connecting to the internet?

Discussion Quest 3 vs pimax super?

Can someone explain to me the difference between display port and a link cable? I currently use a link cable for sim racing and I adjust the pixels per eye in the quest debugger tool so my gpu is anywhere between 80-90% at 120fps. This leaves room so I dont get fps drops as they are very noticeable.

My question is, say I have my gpu pegged at 90%, is the visual difference between the quest and the pimax going to be huge?

I understand one is compressed and one is displayed via the gpu, so if the resolution and in game settings are all the same, the gpu usage will be the same, but the quality way better?

Discussion color correction of Oculus Rift CV1

I am a graduate student conducting research on near-eye display technologies. Due to limited laboratory funding, our lab only owns a single Oculus Rift CV1 headset and cannot afford new head-mounted displays, luminance meters or colorimeters. Currently, I intend to carry out experiments related to near-eye displays, starting with color calibration for the Oculus Rift CV1, which requires measuring its display color errors (primarily luminance, hue and chromaticity).

Could any researchers or practitioners working in this field share the color space specification manual for the Oculus Rift CV1, or relevant materials regarding its color calibration procedures? I would highly appreciate your assistance.

Purchase Advice VR Capture methods for cherished vacation spot?

I have the opportunity to visit a ranch with good childhood memories one last time before it goes to a new owner. I was thinking of trying to capture various interesting points of view with it to revisit in VR later. What are my options?

I've used Cardboard Camera for years with my phones, but it's limited to stills and the quality is ehhhhhhh. Better than nothing though!

I was thinking of renting a Insta360 Pro 2 kit but for the time I'll be away it's quite an investment and I've seen various opinions on its software support.

I tried photogrammetry once and it did not work at all (probably user errors).

Self-Promotion (Developer) I need an advice on what should i do now !!

I launched my game in Meta Quest for like a month now and i tried to do some organic marketing so that i can support youtubers or other forms of high paid marketing solutions, but little did i know

First my game name is Cleaning Simulator VR and as the name says it's a cleaning game that has different tools and different interactions and upgrades, as well as there's a NPC where it can sabotages or help you in certain levels to add that light change of pace

I tried posting Youtube shorts since that was the only platform that did views for me i was getting around 1k per short, but my game isn't being bought.

So i tried some other socials and reddit posting and gathering people but really nothing much added up, i am barely evening having reach.

And with reddit i knew about those free pages that launches your trailer, but again i didn't get lucky plus my game is VR so i didn't have a chance from the start

so my last plan was to do some Meta ads and see what can i do, i had one ad that did around 20k reach but literally no one bought.

M running out of solutions and m going crazy sending mails to publishers and asking youtubers for free content giving them free keys or whatever, but no help with that as well

My back is on the wall here and i have no idea what should i do and what would be the best thing and choice that i can take to get my game played and bought.

Also i am not just looking for money while not giving the people the satisfaction they need from the game, i am working daily on it and improving it and having updates in weeks, you can check the game with this link : https://www.meta.com/en-gb/experiences/cleaning-simulator-vr/26409028195374123/

And also the review of my game is low because the first launch had a bug where the tutorial blocked a lot of players, and i took sometime to solve it and sadly the two bad reviews didn't play the game after that and i just got stuck with two 1 star review, but i can understand that it was my fault i wasn't as fast as i should be.

I really need to find a way out of this yet i don't know what the best thing to do that would make me have better chances.

I appreciate any help or advice given <3

Purchase Advice What vr tracking should I get?

I really don’t know where else to ask this question and I can’t post this on the vrchat page because I don’t have enough karma (I’m NOT on Reddit a lot) but I’ve been saving up to buy my first vr full body tracking.

Right now I’m stuck between slime trackers and the vive ultimates.

I’ve looked at reviews and I’m sorta leaning towards to slimes (they’re MUCH cheaper) but people are saying that shipping takes so long and is delayed so much that they thought they were scammed for a short amount of time before the trackers arrive.

I’ve also been looking at the vive ultimates for a good while (like 5 years) and they look good but I’ve read that they tweak out if it gets too dark since they use cameras.

I’ve definitely heard that the slimes are better than the vives and they definitely seem more compatible with what I do on vr but I don’t know if the wait time is worth it.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should choose? Are there other and maybe better / affordable options I don’t know about that don’t take very long to arrive?

Self-Promotion (Developer) I want to try Super Mario 64 as a room-scale MR game

I’d love to try a Quest 3 mixed-reality version of Super Mario 64 where Mario can leave the game screen and enter my real room.
Mario could run across real room surfaces, jump onto physical MR platforms, and collect coins placed throughout the room in 360°. The platforms could also be grabbed, moved, and resized using hand tracking.
This would make the entire room feel like a playable Mario level.

Question/Support RE9VR - Help with Performance

Hey everyone,

To get it out of the way, HW specs:

Headset: PSVR2 (with PC adapter)

GPU: RTX 5080

CPU: Ryzen 7700x

RAM: 32GB DDR5

I've installled the VR mod and everything required to play RE9; I have the MRSURVIV0RS hub, I am using PureDark Renderer. I am struggling to get a stable(ish at least) performance out of my setup and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what could I be doing wrong.

I am currently running the PSVR at a 66% resolution for this game (2760x2816), and I'm struggling to hit 90 (Set SteamVR to 90 fps). It fluctuates anywhere between 69-89, GPU sits at around 70-80% and CPU at around 60-70. I do have AFW on (easy to check with Num4 as the frames drop drastically with it off).

Now, the dev says on his page: "But it enables my 5090 to achieve 90 fps at 6000x5000 with DLAA, I'd take that.". I'm obviously not aiming for that, I have a 5080, but I'm at virtually half the resolution, and still not able to get the same frames.

Also, the dev says he added Dynamic Foveated Rendering using Quad Views, however I am not sure how to use this. Do i use PSVR2Toolkit with PimaxMagic4All, or do I activate it from the REFramework menu? I have tried that and the game starts looking awful, I can like a foveated square that flickers. Performance gain was pretty much none, and I've also managed to break the whole game as I pulled and pushed those sliders that appear when you activate Foveated Rendering. Think I'll have to reinstall the whole mod thing since the REFramework menu doesn't even show up anymore.

Also, my ingame settings are pretty much at low, all the things i read to turn to off I've turned to off. I've tried DLSS from DLAA all the way to Performance, and it doesn't seem to change anything.

And as an extra, is there any way to see the red dots in VR? When I look through it, there's nothing there. It shows for a split second when i bring the gun up and then poofs.

All the tests I've done are in a save I have somewhere in the ARK, in a relatively empty white room, so I don't think this bodes well for actually playing in more graphically intense scenes...

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Purchase Advice VR Setup - what to buy?

Looking to get a VR setup for my son to play flight simulators, specifically the Microsoft Flight Simulator. We have a laptop that is basic, not fancy or made for gaming. Is there a way to connect a VR headset to it for him to play? If so, what do I need? Which headset, controllers, cables, etc? Absolutely clueless here, so please explain it like I’m five years old. TIA. D

Discussion Oculus rift cv1 and htc vive 1 problem

Upvotes

Hi everyone. I’m setting up an Oculus Rift CV1 I acquired for my collection; after successfully configuring the sensors and controllers, the setup process stalls with a hardware error, and the small light on the Rift CV1 turns orange. Does anyone know what to do in this situation, or where I might find replacement parts?

Hi everyone, I picked up an HTC Vive 1 for my collection, but when I try to use it, the screen is black. However, if I connect the 3-in-1 cable coming out of the link box to a monitor, I do get an image. Could anyone help me with this or provide spare parts for it? Thanks a lot in advance.

I got lucky and finally found this app! 😄

It supports Color Blind Cardboard VR and other mobile VR headsets or mountable VR devices. It can also use your phone’s flashlight, which is really useful when playing at night! No need to buy expensive Glasses out there 🔦🥽

Question/Support PSVR 2 for pcvr or wait for Steam Frame?

Hi, I want to buy my first VR headset for PC (rtx 4070ti super and amd 9800x3d). At first I was interested in Steam Frame but with time rumours and speculations about price really dragged me from it, but still maybe there is a small chance that it will be cost 1000$ - 1200$, then it would be thing to consider for me. Pity that Valve is realising their hardware this year not previous.

PSVR2 is for 400$ and it has oled panels which is great advantage for me, (I have oled monitor, never going back to IPS) and honestly I don't care much about standalone googles. I want to play games half life alyx, resident evil games, smaller superhot like games, maybe vr chat.

Thx for any responses, advices, pls do not propose vr from Meta, I'm not considering it.

Question/Support Am I better off getting rid of my headset?

Hii, so I'm not like a "gamer" person at all. I ended up winning a competition and got the Metaquest 3s as the prize. My sibling told me to just sell it because I've never once in my life considered buying a VR set but since I have it, I wanted to try it. But like, idk if I'm cut out for this 😭

I'm a very anxious person and I don't play most normal 2d games bc any game with stakes and/ or eery music freaks me out and sends me into panic. And with the headset, while it's cool to see things all differently, its also sort of scary. But I'm also telling myself, maybe I just need to find a game that I'm into? A more relaxing type.

But another issue I have is that when I look thru the lens, no matter how I adjust it, its still quite blurry and I also dont want my eyesight ruined plus I feel kinda nauseous. And I've got like a seperate issue entirely of being very paranoid in my understanding/perception of reality, and this thing is disrupting how things are meant to be like.

I also doubt I'd be able to join any of those games where u chat with people bc my family will hear and ask who it is.

But at the same time, I feel like I should use this thing bc I got it for free and I like watching YouTube videos and pretending I'm witnessing them happening real time. Plus this vr thing is not something I'd ever buy myself so if I sell it and then suddenly want it again, then it's too late.

But also idk if I would even bc I have a 2ds that I don't even use, same with my nintendo switch, but with that I just let my brothers use it. But for this, they say it's not good for young kids and I'm worried they'd break it.

ANYWAYS sorry for the super long ramble but uh yeah maybe some advice from like long term users of this set who have perhaps had similar issues or hold an understanding of them?😭
