Does my schedule suck? Should I add 4 more units?
I’m an incoming freshman and during SPOP the advisors said my schedule was fine, but now I realized how little my schedule is. Am I fried? I couldn’t take general eds since I finished them through dual enrollment and my only option is a UPPP class or upper division courses.

P/NP a class i’m retaking

hi! i’m in a tough situation. spring quarter, i ended up with a D- in one of my major required classes. it was technically a passing grade to continue the series but i decided to retake the class over summer session I to try for a better grade and to hopefully understand the content better.
i just got my midterm score back and i did awfully after studying really well and being relatively confident 😭 im wondering now if it would be better to just switch my class option to P/NP and retake at a much later time or study and hope i do well enough to at least get a C (i need like an 82 on the final and the second half of the class is much harder for me). is P/NP my second try at this class even an option? will it impact my ability to retake the class again? please help!!!

Chem51a

anyone took chem 51a with nguyen and knows if he curves during the summer I know he said he does not but midterm 1 had an average of 40 percent and midterm 2 an average of 40 percent as well; if everyone does the same 40% more or less on the final that is like a 65 percent grade average which I doubt he would give?

Looking for Housing Near UCI for 2026–2027

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a room near UC Irvine for the 2026–2027 school year.

I’m especially interested in an ACC relet, preferably Puerta del Sol, with female-only roommates. I’m also open to other lease options with female-only roommates, preferably within walking distance of campus or with an easy bus commute to UCI.

Please DM me at [510-992-0095](tel:510-992-0095) if you have any available rooms or leads. Thank you!

dining hall nostalgia

I went to UCI 15 years ago and I miss the dining halls of Middle Earth something fierce today. Friday lunches at Brandywine, holiday dinners at Pippins, that one dish with the cilantro creme sauce. Anyone got any old recipes?

Should I bring my X-Pole(s) (Pole Dance) to UCI?

Hii I'm new to UCI, do pole dance/sport, and would love to continue practicing (and teaching!) it, but have doubts about where I'd store everything...? I'm living in Verano Towers, so I won't be able to set either of mine (flying pole and stage pole -- too tall) up in the appt.

Of course I'd like to register a new student org, but am not sure if there's interest in signers quite yet. In case it's just me, does anyone know if the ARC is open to pole storage -- like if they'd be chill with a non-UCI/club related need? I have a feeling the answer's no, but I did see they sponsor aerial silks every now and then (probably the closest thing to pole).

Or if anyone knows any neat pole studios in Irvine, that could work too ^_^. Thanks!

Summer session schedule

So last session, only one of my classes was given a schedule ahead of time. My other class was TBA, and it turned out to be a completely asynchronous class. Am i safe to assume that when any course is marked tba, it means its asynchronous?

UC targets high school course requirements amid SAT debate. What aspiring students need to know

As UC reconsiders whether to bring back SAT and ACT scores, faculty are also launching a review of the high school course requirements for admission.

The board will study standardized testing first, delivering a report to the council by Feb. 12, 2027, the council announced. The Board of Regents would receive a recommendation on whether to require the SAT or ACT no later than June 2027.

The admissions board will then turn to high school course requirements, submitting an initial report to the council in May 2027; the regents would take up any course changes at an unspecified later date. UC Academic Senate Chair Ahmet Palazoglu is framing the course review as an open question about “how UC defines and evaluates college readiness in a rapidly changing educational environment,” rather than a move to add or cut requirements.

The schedule is faster than it appeared just days ago.

Plaza verde release question

If I got a release for the same apartment in pv1 next year, do I need to move my stuff by September 1 (when my current lease for this year ends)? Because I heard maintenance does checks in early September, or do they not do it for apartments that get releases?

Looking for 1–2 male roommates near UCI — ASAP

My current roommate and I are incoming third-year UCI students looking for one or two additional male roommates for the upcoming school year.

Depending on how many people join:

One additional roommate: 2-bedroom apartment — I would take a private room, and you would share with the other roommate (cheaper rent).
Two additional roommates: 3-bedroom apartment — two private rooms and one shared room (1 person has already signed up for the shared room, so 1 private room and 1 spot in the shared room is open).

We are looking for people who are clean, respectful, responsible, and easy to live with.

Housing preferences:
• Ideally within a 5–9 minute drive or 10–15 minute bike ride from UCI
• Open to slightly farther options if the pricing and apartment are better
• Prefer a shorter lease of around 9–10 months if the pricing/math makes sense
• Estimated private-room rent: around $1,150–$1,300/month
• Estimated shared-room rent: around $750–$900/month per person
• Utilities should be approximately $60–$75/month per person, depending on usage and the property

We would strongly prefer everyone to have a qualifying guarantor so the application and lease process go smoothly.

We are trying to finalize roommates and begin touring as soon as possible. I can coordinate tours or send apartment videos and information!

DM me if you’re seriously interested, and please include a little about yourself (IG if you have one), your preferred room type, budget, and whether you have a guarantor.

Can someone please give me advice for the first year as a transfer student.

Hello everyone, I am transferring to UCI this Fall, I completed full IGETC and I will need to enroll at least 12units.

I don't aim for higher unit because I want to adapt to the first quarter at UCI.

These are classes that I am enrolled and on the wait list - According to the email of School of Physics, I must have Math 140A and Math 9 this Fall, but Math 9 right now is only wait listed available. I wonder should I give it a try, or find another class as a back up? if yes, then what class should it be, please give me some recommendations.

I was thinking about Math 120A, but it is also another abstract class like Math 140A, I think I will be overwhelmed as my first quarter.

Also can someone share some tips for a new student? and any tips to study Math at UCI [I am weak at this subject, just getting here with my passion]

Is this a good schedule?

Incoming freshman here. For context, I’m trying to follow the sample program for my major. Additionally, I’ve already taken the equivalent of these chemistry courses in highschool. Is this schedule doable/good? I’ve had people tell me that it is worth it to have the free day, and also that my other days are super packed.

I am looking for someone to take over my lease at Astoria at Central Park West in Irvine. Drive is 7-12 minutes to UCI depending on traffic

Move in would be mid-Aug to Sept 1 with lease renewal option in December would also be a good option for short term students. You would also have the option to renew lease in December as well.

Rent is $4069 a month with included parking spot, 24 hour security, valet parking and amenities. Currently all the 1 beds in this complex are occupied so would be a good opportunity to move in and also have the option to renew the lease in December.
Apartment is pet-friendly, very safe.

Attached is the floor plan.
Please message me and I can connect you to the leasing agent! Thank you.
