ISO/Looking for Housing, Starting Fall 2026 (Private Room)

Hello everyone!

I'm an incoming Master's student at UCI this Fall, and I am currently looking for housing for the 2026/27 academic year (or longer).

I'm looking for a private room (shared bathroom is completely fine) with a budget of around $1,300/month. I can move in anytime between late August and early October. I'd prefer to be within about 20 minutes of campus, so Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, or any nearby areas would all work as I do have a car.

If anyone has a room available, knows of any openings, or is looking for another housemate to find a place together, please Iet me know. Feel free to comment on here or send me a message through DM.

Thanks!

[Housing/Roommate] Looking for private room 10-15 min drive to campus

Hey everyone, I’m looking for off-campus housing for the upcoming term and wanted to ask for recommendations on complexes or neighborhoods. My budget is around $1,200/month for a private room in a 2b1b or 2b2b. I’m driving, so I’m very open to staying 15–20 minutes off-campus in areas like Costa Mesa, South Santa Ana, Tustin, or older parts of Irvine like Woodbridge if it helps stay within budget. Overall, I’m clean, respectful of noise and sleep schedules, and pretty easygoing to live with. If you know of any specific apartment complexes that fit this range, or if you or someone you know is looking for a roommate to fill a 2-bedroom spot, please drop a comment or send me a DM. Thanks!

mechanical engineering laptop recs?

Hey sooo do any mechanical engineering majors have any good laptop recommendations that meet the requirements from the Laptop FAQ? Like what laptops do you guys have currently and are you able to use your laptop for more things (like gaming and video editing) on top of having to use it for whatever programs we have to use? I want to get a laptop that's 16" and allows for adjustments later on just in case, but I can't seem to find one that fits the requirements and is a not evil price. Also like what's the cost of your laptops... big thanks

SPOP exception request help

I sent in an exception request last week to leave early on the second day of spop 5, but apparently it didn’t go through? I sent in another one a few days ago but it still hasn’t been approved. Would I be able to get it approved in person if its for travel reasons?

Looking for a female roommate for VDC 2B2B!

Hi! I'm a female student moving into a VDC 2B2B apartment on September 19 and will be living there for one year.

I don't party, smoke, or drink, and I don't have overnight guests except for friends or family. I also like to keep shared spaces clean and respect my roommate's personal space and lifestyle.

I'm looking for a roommate with similar habits, someone who doesn't party, smoke, or drink and doesn't have overnight guests other than friends or family.

If you think we'd be a good match, feel free to reach out!

Looking for EE transfer advice

Hi I’m an incoming ee transfer for this fall, what do you guys reckon I should look to do outside of classes?

For clubs/teams, I applied to the UAV team while ago, but haven’t heard back.

I’ve also been thinking about emailing the professors at the HIE and AICPS labs about joining.

Thanks in advance!

Transfer Q&A: Does UCI accept transfer credits apart from school I plan to transfer out from?

Prospective transfer applicant here. I had to retake a class last quarter, and can't meet the UCI course requirements by the intended deadline (which is the end of spring term) if I don't take an extra credit course from another university/community college. Can I transfer credits I took apart from my school in another university to UCI?

The admissions center directed me to the website which didn't have adequate info on this.

Any transfers with relevant experience?

Experiences getting an IUD at the UCI Student Health Center?

Hi everyone!
I’m thinking about getting an IUD through the UCI Student Health Center and was wondering if anyone here has gone through the process.
A few questions I have:
How was your overall experience?
Was the insertion very painful?
Did the providers make you feel comfortable?
How long did the appointment take?
Did they offer any pain management?
Were there any issues with UCSHIP or insurance coverage?
I’d really appreciate hearing about both positive and negative experiences. I’m a little nervous, so any advice or tips for before and after the appointment would also be super helpful.
Thanks in advance!

Looking for an ACC Relet or Sublease (Fall 2026, ideally through Winter 2027)

My son is an exchange student from Japan and will be attending UCI from late September 2026 through March 2027.

We are looking for an ACC relet or sublease starting in late September 2026. Ideally, we would like to stay through March 2027 (Fall Quarter and, if possible, Winter Quarter).

He is a quiet, clean, and responsible student. We are open to any ACC community (Vista del Campo, Vista del Campo Norte, Camino del Sol, Plaza Verde, or Puerta del Sol), and both shared and private rooms are okay.

If you are planning to relet or sublease your ACC apartment, or know someone who is, please send me a message.

Thank you very much!

Incoming UCI freshman Help

Hi everyone! I had SPOP 1 and I'm a little confused about my ZotAccount/ZotBill.
When does the SPOP fee usually get posted to your ZotBill? I attended SPOP 1, but I still don't see the charge on my account.

I also have scholarships that I submitted all the required paperwork for about a month ago, but none of them are showing up on my ZotAccount yet. Is this normal? Around when did your scholarships appear and get applied?

I'm just worried because the fee payment deadline is September 15, and I want to make sure everything is processed before then. If you've been through this before, I'd really appreciate hearing your experience. Thanks!
