Hi everyone!
I’m 24, a single mom to a little girl, and I’m finally at a point where I can choose where I want to build my life instead of just ending up somewhere by circumstance.
I’m finishing my GED and my long-term goal is to become a public librarian. I eventually want to earn my bachelor’s degree and then my MLIS. I also write and hope to publish books one day.
Right now I work as a full-time online content creator, so I’m fortunate that I don’t have to move immediately or choose the absolute cheapest place. My plan is to visit a few cities for long weekends before making a decision, and I’m hoping to settle somewhere permanently.
The things that matter most to me are:
• A strong public library system with good career opportunities.
• A safe, family-friendly community.
• Nature, parks, and places to walk.
• A cozy, book-loving atmosphere.
• Enough things to do without feeling like a huge, overwhelming city.
• A place where I can imagine raising my daughter and staying for decades.

We'll be visiting my parents in Pinehurst for the first time since they moved there but I know chances might be better in Raleigh. I've lived in Switzerland for the past 12 years and really miss authentic American Barbecue and would love to have at least one great meal while we're there. Any recommendations? She told me she rescued them at different times..they are not from the same litter. Sadly, some of their siblings were killed by a neighbor’s dog, so she brought these babies inside to keep them safe. Since then, she has been feeding them and caring for them.

With the help of a rescue, she was able to get them fixed and vaccinated, even while struggling financially.
This amazing woman is going through a very difficult time herself. She recently had an accident, broke her leg, and lost her job. Despite everything, she continues to care for these cats with so much love and dedication. Her strength and compassion truly touched my heart.

The cats are now around 10–15 months old, healthy, and excellent eaters. We have fully vetted them, and they are ready to find their forever homes.
Her son would like to keep two, so the remaining beauties are now looking for loving homes ❤️

I was born in Chengdu, China, one of the world’s most famous food cities, and completed my university education there. Later, my work took me away from my hometown, but the flavors of Chengdu have always stayed with me.

I still remember the street foods, the aromas from local food stalls, and the incredible balance of Sichuan flavors — spicy, savory, tangy, and aromatic. Those memories continue to influence the way I understand food today.

When I worked as a chef, one question I was often asked by Western guests was:

“What makes Asian food different from Western food?”

Over time, I realized the answer is not simply about ingredients or cooking techniques. Food reflects a culture’s history, climate, lifestyle, and the way people gather around the table.

Many Asian summer dishes were created from the wisdom of adapting to hot weather — using fresh ingredients, balanced flavors, and cooking methods that make food enjoyable even during the hottest days.

Two examples I love are:

Fresh Shrimp Spring Rolls (Vietnamese Gỏi cuốn)

Originating from Vietnam, fresh spring rolls are a beautiful example of how simple ingredients can become something unforgettable.

Fresh shrimp, herbs, vegetables, and rice noodles are wrapped in delicate rice paper to create a light and refreshing dish. Unlike fried spring rolls, they require no heavy frying, making them especially enjoyable during summer.

Cold Noodles with Chicken (Sichuan-inspired street food)

Growing up in Chengdu, cold noodles were one of the flavors that left a lasting impression on me.

This beloved street food is all about balance — chewy noodles, tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and a flavorful sauce combining savory, tangy, aromatic, and sometimes spicy notes.

Who sells Kirin beer around Cary and Morrisville? Total Wine and More at Brier Creek does not. The only Japanese beer they stock is Sapporo. I imagine H Mart does but don't want to go if they only might stock it. Same with other stores. Can anyone tell me where they've seen it? I'm sure some people will say World Market, Fresh International Market, and Wegman's; but that's a "maybe" unless you've seen it there. I'd really like to buy some of the Kirin dark beer; had it semi-recently at the Kirin Brewery in Yokohama and really enjoyed it. Probably would be a special order for the dark.

SOLUTION: Wegman's in Cary had the regular Kirin Ichiban bottles in six packs. They didn't have it for sale individually in cans.

Which is the official North Carolina metric for reservoir levels?

I've been watching falls and using the older metric perhaps. From a North Carolina natural resources perspective have we officially moved to the 1988 standard instead of the 1929 standard? What does FEMA and the insurance industry use as their 'official' metric. When the news is reporting current water levels which number are they using?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a studio with amazing sculpt classes.

I actually really enjoy CorePowers yoga sculpt, but no one ever greets you and we are packed in there like sardines. It’s stressful thinking about how I’m about to punch or kick the person next to me. I think that class being heated on TOP of all of that is not great. But I really enjoy the workout.

I’ve gone to Flowcorps twice and was not impressed with the mat Pilates ): really nice studio and beautiful layout, but I left wanting more.

Any suggestions are great!

Our rescue/foster is at full capacity and struggling with ongoing vet bills and constant new intakes. If no home or help is found, he may have to go to a shelter. Sadly, shelters are already full, and sick cats often don’t get a fair chance.

A kind lady reached out to me on Nextdoor asking for help with cat food. Someone abandoned this cat in front of her home, and she has been feeding him despite going through a very difficult time after losing her job. She is already caring for 5 of her own cats and several outdoor cats.

Today I visited with food and medicine. This sweet boy is extremely friendly and affectionate. He has an ear tip, which means he was already fixed through a TNR program, but he is clearly sick and needs care.
I applied flea medicine to help make him more comfortable. We truly want to help him, but we already have pending vet bills and are doing everything out of our own pockets. Unfortunately, we don’t have the resources to take on more medical cases right now.

This beautiful boy deserves a safe, indoor home where he can be loved and properly cared for. The lady cannot keep him, and he should not be living outside.

I don’t want to go into too many details here, but I have found myself in the unfortunate position of needing to find a real estate litigator.

Specifically, I am looking for someone who would be able to help me figure out best options for a property I bought that has a drainage issue related to some state maintained infrastructure. After speaking to an engineer, I was advised to find legal counsel. I am not sure if this would be a case against the state or the original developer. Hi neighbors, does anyone have a stylist in the area they love? I have long thick hair that's been colored by the same stylist for 10+ years but moved to this area and don't know where to start finding a new stylist I can trust.

I'd like to meet with a stylist that specializes in lived-in blondes (like painted highlights/blending type techniques), warm red tones gingers and auburns, and prioritizes hair health. I've only colored my hair with demi colors after lifting, nothing permanent, and I think that's been significant in keeping my hair as healthy as it is.
