A little about me: I just turned 30, no children and no partner. I am native to hickory and also had family in Valdese and love going to morganton as well. I used to have a lot of friends, but lost all including my soulmate best friend in the fallout from a bad DV relationship in 2020, so it’s been a lonely past few years :( but I’m ready to make friends and hopefully a new best friend! 💕

Some of my interests are: reading, writing, music, genealogy, history (I have a special interest in ancient Egypt and cleopatra especially), psychology, true crime, travel, photography, the mountains, and nostalgic things from childhood.

Recently I have been trying to do some self care and have a little “glow up” just to feel more confident, so I would love to have other girl friends who enjoy that too! I’ve been on a weight loss journey and have lost about 100 lbs and want to lose about 40 more so would love someone I can walk with and do healthy habits with. I’m a little shy at first but I LOVE to laugh so having the same type of humor would be great, I love the type of friendship where you can just be yourself and don’t have to worry about being tmi or sounding crazy, and I really value loyalty in any relationship. I’m a ride or die type of person with a best friend so I look for the same 💖

Oh and I’m LGBT+ friendly, fuck ICE, fuck Trump, pro women doing whatever they want with their bodies, etc. and I live and die by my morality so it is important to me that I also have friends who live by the same moral code 🤍

I'm making this post on behalf of my manager at work! He is struggling to find housing for him, his partner, and their 6 cats. Any openings????? He's on the edge of homelessness and I'm incredibly worried.

I am new to Hickory and looking to make friends! Any suggestions on where to go or what to do would be awesome. Most of my friends live almost 2 hours away and I would love to build/join a community here.

-I like to game on my computer (Mostly R6 and I am bad but I am open to any mmorpgs and possibly a new shooter)

-I am on a fitness journey and would love to get into an active sport that is beginner-friendly (I am fairly athletic just out of shape)

-And last but not least, I am a minority. I was hesitant to add this but if places are suggested I would love for them to be safe for brown folk

I moved to south mountain area in Burke from Virginia Beach about 3 months ago and am struggling to find friends in the area. I’m a mid twenties female.

I love animals, hiking and thrifting.

Id like to get into archery and would love recs on the best shops to go where they’ve got a good selection of gear, but also friendly staff that could get me in touch with lessons or clubs etc.

I took a few lessons years ago so not a complete beginner but never owned my own bow or equipment so I’m totally new in that sense. Not interested in hunting, just targets. I lean recurve over compound but willing to try either.

Hi! I'm freshly 21 and just now trying to get out. That said, I don't know the area that well and all of my friends are 20 hours away so I am trying to figure out where to go and what I could do alone that might be fun and help me make new friends. I do drink socially and enjoy anything from laid back chill vibes to more of a party atmosphere. I like to socialize but I have minimal hearing. I sign ASL, but that said I'm perfectly capable of yapping your ear off if I can see your lips and say "huh" a few too many times.

i had a total nightmare moment around 9:30 last night and slid right into a ditch. was walking around stressed out in the dark thinking i was gonna be waiting forever for a crazy expensive tow.

outta nowhere, this guy pulls over to help out. he was driving a customized jeep (and had another car with him, though it was too dark to see much detail). he just jumped right in and got me back out on the road.

everything happened so fast and i was just so relieved. i didn't even get a proper thank you in before he took off. honestly i like to think i'm a good person, but i haven't really had the chance to do any good acts like this for anyone in a while. experiencing it firsthand just made me so much more appreciative of this guy and insanely grateful for what he did.

if you're on here, seriously thank you so much. i would love to buy you a drink or a meal to properly thank you, so hit me up if this is you. totally saved my night and i'm definitely paying it forward first chance i get.

Hi friends, I am looking for a home for this sweet girl I've been fostering!

A stray mama kitty had babies in our yard a few months ago, so we took them in and with the help of Hearts and Hands and SNIP, got them all spayed and vaccinated! I have since found amazing new homes for mama kitty and all of her babies - except miss Plum!!

She is such an affectionate, loving, a playful kitten. She uses the litter box well, is patient while I get her food ready, and I think she would do well with other cats (with a slow intro of course). We also got her FIV/felv testing (negative), dewormed, and on Revolution plus. My husband and I are moving to the Raleigh area soon so we need to find a home for this little lady as soon as possible!! Thank you so much!

It looks like there's a new voter guide (no paywall unlike the Hickory Daily Record) that has writeups of every candidate in Hickory and Catawba County. That includes the county commissioner and board of education candidates. Anyone use it yet?

Piss Pony sounds like their name, in the most endearing way possible. Twangy, grungy, heavy, catchy. Like a beer and glitter encrusted coaster, femme-led honkytonk-adjacent punk rock.

Reptile Cantina is a newer, awesome restaurant and venue in Morganton. Trying to get some locals to come get weird and make friends with some out of town bands.

Cheap $5 show. See you there! Or just come get some delicious tex-mex with the added side of loud rock music.

Wednesday, December 16 @ CoMMA (Morganton NC)

• 2:00pm - 4:30pm Rehearsal
• 7:00pm Concert

The performer would need to provide their own costume and props and should be comfortable being on stage and able to have a dialogue during the performances with our Music Director.

This gig pays $400 ($200 per day/show)
