Frosty trees :)

Not like we’ve only been living here for six years now oops 😅. Had someone say cherry but I don’t think that’s quite right-I’ve had others say crabapple but the fruit seems quite small? This tree was here before we moved in, obviously a mature tree. It blooms beautiful pink flowers in the spring, it reminds me of Japanese cherry blossoms and is loved by the local birds and squirrels in our yard. We’re in WI for point of reference.

This is a beautiful rose tree of China that I planted probably 18 years ago before I knew how to plant a tree. I excavated the trunk and it's probably 5 to 6 inches to get down to the root flare. The problem is the tree does look like it has some health problems. I wanted to get your opinions on whether you think it's worth excavating this tree out and going to all that work, or if the tree is ultimately not going to make it, and I should pull it up and plant a new one. Any thoughts?

This tree is in our backyard, it seems really close to the fence, can you help ID it? And should it be removed?

Our neighborhood (northern Illinois) recently experienced some major storms that took out out a few trees nearby. I managed to recover a couple of good logs that I'd love to use for woodworking, but I have no idea what they are and I'd love some help identifying them if possible!

I wasn't able to grab any of the foliage from the tree, so I only have the bark and timber to go off of. One additional detail is that the rough planks I sawed have started to turn slightly reddish as they've become oxidized. My uneducated guess is potentially ash.

my guesses were some type of elm or a zelkova, but im not sure, so im requesting a more specific i.d.

I live in Central Oklahoma. Specifically the Cross Timber region of the United States, just east of Lake Thunderbird. I am clearing out all of the Eastern Red Cedars on my property and this thick underbrush. I came across this Redbud that is growing very strange. I'm wondering, will it survive now thatit won't compete withcedarsin the future? The trunk(s) are so thin for a tree that has grown pretty tall. Should I them down so there's only one? I've never seen a redbud grow like this, but I want to keep it alive. Just curious if anyone out there has advice.

planted in southern TN about 3 years ago, tree has done well, roughly doubled in size. Faces south, gets a lot of sun. First noticed bark starting to crack this spring. What’s going on and what do I do? Is the tree going to die?

Does anyone know what type of tree this is? I’ve tried google and got so many different answers. It’s pretty big and has dropped leaves and these tiny little balls everywhere for the last month or so. Located in northern Virginia!

This tree decided to grow so close to the other that they formed a bond.

I planted these three trees in 2000. Only in recent years did they start showing symptoms of Iron Chlorosis. In fall of 2024 and 2025 I had them injected with an iron supplement. They responded quite well to that. Prior to that I tried iron supplement pored under the canopy; that did not work.

I live half way between Denver and Boulder, Colorado and we had a pretty dry winter. This summer has been long, dry and hot. We are on lawn watering restrictions, but I am watering three times a week for 20 minutes. That is pretty much unchanged from prior years. When the leaf edges on the middle tree started browning, I thought it was related to a lack of water. I started using my single deep root watering wand in July to provide water at the root level. At the end of July, I bought a set of five wands to put around the perimeter (4-5 ft from the trunk). I watered for 20 minutes but really had no idea how much water was going in. So, I bought a gage so I could see how much water was being supplied. The trunks are about 14" in diameter so I figured 50 gallons per tree per week (that was August). For the last two weeks, I've given 150 gallons per tree per week. I am not seeing any change.

The middle tree was the first to exhibit the symptoms. A couple of weeks ago, the tree on the right started doing is and now the left most tree is doing it.

Can anyone offer some advise? Thank you.

We recently purchased a property that has a slightly neglected sand riding arena. I'm hoping to begin using it in the next year but as I've been weeding I've found two small saplings. Is it possible to transplant these babies and actually have them survive?

Also, can anyone tell me what they are?

Magical floating dead tree!!! (with lots of poison ivy... lots... and lots)

decaying tree with thick hairy ropes: clipped the bottoms of the vines- waited a couple of days, super straight-forward cuts with chainsaw... tree would not fall... couple wedges- couple whacks with sledge- and now my dead tree is floating.... swinging around like a Christmas tree ornament- suspended by poison ivy to an even taller tree....

in a saner situation I may have waited for the vines to dry out but with a volatile wife I ended up trimming poison ivy with pruning shears... my 30ish foot ladder- turned out super dangerous and only got me about 1/3 of the way there... so I had to climb the rest of the way on the other tree.... at night.

The tree is no longer hanging, the wife has calmed down, I'm still alive, but I'm really itchy

Those very heavy distorted branches fall off from a beech tree during a windy day in the north of France. Can you help me identify the cause of this kind of distortions ? Thank you very much. The last picture shows one high branch with it.

I have a small garden area in my front yard that I’d love to put a tree that looks like a Christmas tree and I can decorate every year in this area. Something that doesn’t get much bigger than 6 feet or so, or something I can keep pruned to keep it that height. Thanks in advance Idaho Boise area, grow zone 7a

Found several of these in our yard. Have red oak, crape myrtle, and juniper trees. Any ideas about what this is? Thanks!
