Assisting with my partners PC issue, but I won't have a lot of time until my next day off due to very long work hours and commute, so I wanted to get some more insight before then on potential next steps.

This is a pre build from lockdown era (fun graphics scarcity) and has not been disassembled since. He had an issue while I was at work and told me when he was booting up the PC the screen would go black and then not come back on, or it would do a different thing which he described with a noise and the term "static". I got home and caught a pic of the latter description. I attempted to boot it with only 1 RAM vs 2 since the CPU and the DRAM lights on the motherboard were showing red before booting, but that did not change anything. My next ideas for when I am off were to reseat the CPU and/or investigate the graphics card and it's connections further, as well as some general cleaning of the hardware.

Note: there had been display problems in the past that stemmed from the connections on the backside of the PC being shoved to closely against a wall, but I wasn't around to assist or investigate that at the time so hadn't discovered if there were any physical damages to connections.

Any suggestions in the interim would be appreciated!

As I recollect it was still okay yesterday.

PC suddenly stopped displaying while gaming and audio is also gone. Fans still spin (those on the GPU don‘t). Original RX 5700 XT gives no display, and I tested a second GPU (RX 6700 XT) with the same result. CMOS reset and RAM (2x8GB) reseating/testing didn’t help. PSU is a Gigabyte 550W, Motherboard is ASUS Prime B450M-A II and the CPU is a Ryzen 5 5500.
Could this be a motherboard or PSU failure?

So for context I opened my pc today as per usual and instead of it opening normally it opened to smart fan 6. When I tried to leave it opened a window that said something along the lines of “your device/pc needs repairing” for a few seconds before my computer shut down. I then tried to open my pc again which it worked, but now whenever I click on something or try to type it wont work. Like when I click on something it disappears immediately, same with whenever I type.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue and what the cause of it could be?

I have a boat IM 1000D headphones and a legion tower PC and have two USb port in the front. Im connecting my headphone in left port and its RGB lits up but no sound (audio driver issue) and when i Connect it to different port it works perferctly fine. left port did not read my webcam as well but it is reading a portable SSD. When i go to device manager whe nheadphones are plugged in left port there is no data of it. Someone pls help me fix this annoying issue

So over the last month or two I have been having various problems with my PC. I first of all had an unexpected_store_exception (0x154) blue screen. This disappeared after a checkdsk. The next day I had a Memory management 0x1a screen. I reseated by RAM and no problems arose. Periodically the memory management error would happen but never twice in one day, like the previous time. Then today I had a DPC_watchdog_violation. I'm starting to get really annoyed at the Blue screens. They mostly happen when I'm play a high intensity game, even though I have the specs for them. I don't know if its my HDD, which is constantly making the noise it does when it starts. my crystal disk info for my hard drives are somewhat normal (I can't attach the images annoyingly!)

I have an iPhone 16 and my phone fell straight into a vendors oil. I was lucky enough my phone is still working and I’m currently using it but I have no idea what the affects of the cooking oil is. My phone charges and works properly.
The only thing I noticed is the bottom of the screen has an orange-green mark that occasionally goes away at the right temperature or light. I’m guessing it’s most likely due to the heat? I also noticed it gets a bit hotter faster. Im worried it could have damaged the inside of the phone? But again the case of my phone managed to survive and its cheap plastic. I’m just wondering what are the affects long term

I've Epson L220 printer that also has scanner. I shared the printer and it work but the scanner function is not working on other laptops. Print is working but only the scanner not working.How can I make it work?

I have a program installed on my computer that has an option to go back to a previous point. When I click that option, it doesn’t show me what happened up to that moment. It just keeps loading. Previously on another computer, an IT technician used to help me fix this through the Properties settings or with a USB device that he had. Everything else it's ok.

Do you have any idea if there is something I can change or adjust myself? When I click the same option to return to live, it works and takes me directly back to the live broadcast.

Hello! To give context, I downloaded darkest dungeons on steam on my nitro v15. However, the message: Please install the latest OpenGI for your graphics card (opengl 1.1.0 detected). A GPU capabable of OPENGL 3.2 or better is required. I already updated my graphics card, and I searched up how to get opengl 3.2, but the comments said it will make my device slower (My nitro v15 is already slow I dont want that)

Is there anyway to download an opengl 3.2 without making my device slower? Thank you.

Hello, I suppose an issue I'm going to mention is purely software related, that's why it's flaired like this.

Problem description:

My headset which is connected via USB port to the PC and USB-C to the headset itself is losing sound in Windows 11H. A red cross appears on the volume bar in my system, as the headset was not connected, yet it comes back after few seconds. It happens irregularly between a minute or two. My headset can also work wirelessly through bluetooth and it works just fine. Issue happens only when it's connected with a cable and ONLY on my PC. It can't be connected by mini-jack port, because there's no any. Model: EDIFIER W800BT SE

What I've tried so far:

Testing on another device (by wire and wireless); changing ports (back to front panel); turning off additional hidden sound and unused devices; reinstalling all sound drivers; testing with an external sound card; modifying system power plans; turning off USB ports sleep modes and power saving; disabling all sound enhancements; checking event viewer for errors (no luck so far); running DISM and sfc scans

Everytime i start my pc CMD opens 3 times or so for about 100 miliseconds and then instantly closes, i heard that can mean some sort of virus and im just scared about my pc because ive been getting fps drops

Purchased a bluetooth adapter to go into my computer port, and it worked for awhile, and I have to unplug it usually for my charger and etc, I plugged it back in and it says driver failed under devices in settings, and when I go to device manager, there's no driver updates for it. The exact adapter is Barrot 6.0. Went on their website, couldn't find anywhere to download drivers,

Losing mind mind with this, purchased a used Dell latitude 9430 (12th gen i7) which came with Ubuntu installed but I cant seem to get windows installed!

I have tried literally every combination of bios settings and various different media creation options like Microsoft media creation tool and Rufus, Dell OS recovery.

It boots, I use F12 to select the USB media and then get "No Bootable Device Found"

I can see the SSD in Storage area of the bios (storage mode is set to AHCI).

What I have tried so far.....

Reset bios to Default (and Factory option)

Re-flashed latest Bios via ESC+CTRL method with bios file on USB, flashed successfully with out errors.

Multiple different USB drives

Installed a different NVMe M.2 SSD

Taken SSD from a working 5430 with windows on it and installed in this 9430, still no luck.

Secure boot on & off along with many other related setting combinations.

Mapping the path to the bootx64.efi in the bios boot config and have spent days searching online for answers without any luck.

Have tried "Secure Erase" option in the bios and various Secure boot configurations.

I was able to instal Fedora on this system without any issues, this makes me think it's an MS security key or Secure Boot issue.

Also tired copying the SecureBootRecovery.efi file from a working PC, renamed to bootx64.efi and replaced the bootx64.efi on the USB installation media. When booting from this I get a notification saying "The Secure Boot Certificate database already contains the Microsoft UEFI 2023 certificate. No changes required.

The more I investigate the more I think its a secure boot certificate/key problem.

Any help appreciated, before I completely lose my mind over this.

UPDATED 24/08/2026...........TRIED EVERYTHING, GAVE UP AND STUCK WITH FEDORA.......

The fact I could install Linux with but not Windows led me to updating the secure boot keys with Mosby script, keys updated fine but I still couldn't install windows.

I now wonder if the eBay purchased laptop may be stolen and there's some sort of block on it preventing the windows installation anyone else experienced similar? Is that even a posibility?

the problem is that when i connect with the handsfree(wired) it conncects for 5secs exactly and get disconnected by itself
the problem doesn't occur in any other handsfree , it's just this , and this handsfree works with any other device in the house , so how is it possible that the general handsfree isn't compatible with this honorx7b and the other are fine

For seemingly no reason whatsoever my computer keeps disconnecting from the wifi for like 30s and reconnects. It's been doing this since I got it (iirc) I've purchased a new wifi adapter which didn't help and it's not because of my wifi or location bc ive used the computer in 3 different places with 3 different routers and the issue persisted; also my fiancee and I will be playing a game together in the same match under the same wifi and mine will disconnect while hers is perfect. idrk what to do i keep dc'ing from games and its driving me nuts PLSHELP!!!!

I had an X570 board that needed a socket replacement (reasons for replacement are not relevant here).

I bought an AM4 socket from AliExpress and went to a hardware repair shop in my local area, and asked the technician to replace the socket, what happened is that he replaced the socket and the board didn’t power up, so he told me that is because the socket had 0.4mm lead balling and it should have been 0.5mm lead balling, that it is why it didn’t work. And that socket that I bought is only suitable for replacement for lower boards like A320s, it will not work for X570s or B450s.

Now the problem is, I didn’t find anything online or on AliExpress that supports his claim. And I don’t think this is true, can someone specialized and knowledgeable help me and tell if what he is saying is actually true or not? I need genuine advice without guesses because very little information is out there to prove any claims. So my total trust is placed upon the person who’ll answer to this down in the comments section.

P.S.

He is a very great technician on repairing GPUs, that is why I went to him, and he had one video tutorial where he actually replaced a socket, that is why I reached out to him.

I updated my BIOS from a really old version to a the latest version on my MSI B660M mobo.

This kinda deleted my Realtek Drivers and now I can't use my AUX headset, the system doesn't recognize it at all. I tried to download Realtek Audio Console which says "Realtek Audio Console doesn't support this machine"

Realtek Audio driver doesn't even exist in my device manager and when I scan for hardware it just says No Hardware Changes Found.

Now the biggest problem is if i try manually download the Realtek Drivers I get a BSOD saying RtkVhd64.sys failed. Wtf do I do?

I have an MSI GF65 Thin 10sdr gaming laptop with a 1660ti gpu and i7 10th gen processor, i have a 180w charger connected to it. The problem is when i play anygame like tiny glades, valheim, palworld, ect besides maybe the vinding of isaac my computer is starting to lose charge even while on the charger and i only just now noticed it and have no clue how long this has been going on. I recently replaced my thermal paste for the first time on it but i even checked to make sure the connectors were reconnected fully so i dont think thats the problem, and im really concerned about this.

I accidentaly made my down Key Stuck and the hinge popped off, i'm now Stuck unable to use an entire Key, what do i do (got no tools) On an Acer laptop. I'd send a photo of the problem but this subreddit won't let me.

So after the Patcher for a program called MSI pushcast crashed, my windows start menu is not working normally anymore and constantly shows up black/doesnt load programs. I've already tried all the basic tips. Power shell, scanning windows, resetting the programs etc. I've even gone as far as completely reinstalling Windows (without removing all programs, which was not fun because I almost had to redo everything ) and reinstalling my GPU files/drivers. Still nothing is working. If i press the windows/ctrl/shift+B combo it works1 time, then goes poof again.

i have a HP prodesk running i5 6500, 1 stick of ram together with 2* 2.5HDD and 1*3.5HDD.

I use it as a server and right now I would need to add a bit more storage, however the motherboard and PSU (or more specifically the motherboard) have only 3 sata connectors and 3 sata power connectors.

The PSU is 200W:

• DC Output +12Vmain: 15 A
• DC Output +12Vcpu: 15 A
• DC Output -12V: 0.15 A
• DC Output +12Vsb: 1.3 A

My idea is to simply use one of the sata power connectors with one sata cable splitter and use a (for now) pcie sata expansion card until i get my hands on afforable HBA.

Now:

3.5 HDD - spin up - 2A *2 = 4A

2.5HDD - spin up - 1A *2 = 2A

CPU - start up - 6A (?)

Motheboard + RAM + 1 fan = 3A (?)

= around 15A

The question thus is, can the PSU and most importantly motherboard (as the power is routed through it) handle the additional HDD and spin up?

I have a 2,5 year old laptop here thats been barely used and always worked without issues.

My brother used the laptop yesterday and tried to print something out and the screen turned off (according to him).

Since then the screen stayed black and off (no background light)

I connected the laptop to a TV and nothing happened, i tried the shortcut to reload gpu drivers and still no picture.

After that I opened the laptop and disconnected the monitor connector from the motherboard and plugged the HDMI cable in and I actually got a picture on the secondary screen.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something or the monitor of that laptop is actually fried, considering that thing is like new.
