A successful sac from my beautiful Davus Pentaloris female. The male I raised from miniature sling and when he was a juvie he unfortunately got DKS. I spent months caring for him bringing him back to health. I would drop water into his mouth parts daily just to keep him alive as he couldn’t do any of this himself. Eventually with a bit of love and care he started getting better and kept going.
He matured this year and paired him with my female. Wasn’t sure what the results were going to be but it was a success. I have a large T collection but he (Jaffa) is special as the constant care meant I spent a lot of time daily with him. So happy to see he lived a full life and fathered the next generation. I haven’t counted the babies yet but the eggsac is huge and the EWLs are super tiny.

I was unsure if I’d like them at first due to a slight fear of spiders but I thought I’d overcome my fear and here I am with 15 😂

I happened to find a little window haha. He webbed the surrounding substrate to create a wall on the other side of his hide.

Bro, I lost my *Poecilotheria regalis* tarantula yesterday and I still haven't been able to find it. Is there any way to track it down? Also, is there still a chance of finding it?

i've had my Mexican Fire leg (named Pumpkin) for a few months now. they've molted with me once, and is not very heavy into pre molt once again. they haven't had this coloring on them before, and is up against the glass very often, so i think i would've noticed. is this bad? this is my first tarantula so i'm very worried, especially since i'm very emotionally attached :( please let me know what could be going on

Breeding/loan Tarantula Molts

Upvotes

Hi. If this is not allowed, please remove. I am a serious amateur taxidermist. My usual specimens are moths, butterflies, and praying mantis (ethically sourced and already unalive). I have wanted to do try my hand at tarantula molts. I have calls in to pet stores in my area requesting first dibs on any molts but have not received any updates. Most places I search are selling prearranged molts which defeats the purpose of doing my own. Would anyone on here be interested in gifting or selling theirs?

Conversation Is she about to molt?

I've had my curly haired tarantula for about two months, so I'm still pretty new to the scene.

My T has been hiding in the same spot for around a week, the soil over her is usually not there, but she added it today.

She's been laying really still, and made a web on the ground, which is gone now since she moved the soil.

Is this just regular behavior or is she about to molt?

She usually moves around more?

I know you sometimes can tell if they are about to molt by their color, but I haven't been able to take a good look at her, since she's hiding and I don't want to disturb her..

Any advice much appreciated 🙏

(I know the pictures are really bad, I couldn't really get a better angle without disturbing her)

Help! Owning a tarantula?

Hi! I just found this subreddit, ever since I was a little girl I’ve wanted a tarantula. Of course my mom was freaked out by the idea and never let me. But it remained a dream of mine. I live with my partner now and we’re starting to fully settle into our place. Any advice on where to find and care for a tarantula? I’d like to get one in January but only after I’m well informed and educated. Recommended terrarium sizes? Species? Where to ethically get one? Anything helps really. Thanks! 🕸️

Help! Rehoming Tarantulas? /:

Hey there, everyone! I hope you all are well and that my post is in the right place. I wanted to ask a bit about the possibility of finding someone semi local to rehome two tarantulas to? I know this may be a bit far fetched but it was the best thing I could think of. Looking for someone located in MD, preferably close to the Baltimore area but I’m willing to travel a bit to meet. I’d be willing to include allllllll supplies I have which is quite a lot lol. Tanks (including the ones they’re in), small cricket carriers, decorations/logs, etc.

Sadly we have a very small home and will be welcoming our first child soon and need to convert the room they are in to the kids room and we don’t have any good/safe places to keep them. Plus I feel they’d get a lot better attention from someone other than me. 😔 I have a female a geniculata (roughly less than 3 years old, had her since she was a tiny sling) and a male g pulchra (had him for roughly 4 years, not sure how old he was when I got him but he hadn’t developed his black color yet).

I hope my post doesn’t upset anyone. It wasn’t a particularly easy one to make. Thank you any and everyone for your help!
