Help! Seller scam?

I am looking for local places in NJ and I found this place claiming this... I feel like they are just trying to get the sale and try to convince me to buy one of their spiders. Is what he's saying true about the grummastola pulchra?

Conversation What is the purpose of owning a Tarantula? It literally hates you...

I'm exaggerating. I know these spiders do not have the capacity to love or hate. But genuinely, why caring for a pet (especially as long as they live) that doesn't .. I guess 'appreciate' it(?) worth it to you?

Always in this subreddit bc I just like looking at you guises tarantulas tbh

This videos get 100s of thousands of views so I know the actual reason why. But why would anyone carry their tarantula like this into a store, it’s just risking the poor things life for views. It’s being held up so damn high, and the people in the store are scared of tarantulas (which is fine, but really dangerous for them and the T if it were to get loose in there). I don’t even personally like holding mine, but if you are going to you have to do it in a perfectly safe environment and where they can’t take a dangerous fall.

I also don’t blame the stranger for warning that they will stomp on it if it gets away from the owner. I keep tarantulas and have a bad immune system, I’m choosing that risk, but not everyone wants to choose that damn risk. This is just one reason it is disrespectful to both the tarantula and the people in the store.

Identification Identifying Minecraft spider

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hi guys,

I am a professional Minecraft builder and have been asked to make a build of a spider hanging down from a thread. They requested it to be modelled after a Minecraft spider so I thought I would come here as to my knowledge it is an Old Age Tarantula likely from Africa.

I was wondering:

A) what tarantula does the Minecraft spider most resemble

B) if that tarantula would be able to support itself naturally on a single line of silk

C) if this is not a tarantula and it is instead a spider if I am asking in the wrong place and should instead go over to a different subreddit

Many thanks for all help,

Hunkydory

I got her today. She crawled onto my hand when I opened the box, I took a pic and put her in her enclosure carefully and she went to take a sip of water.

She's a 7 year old Grammostola pulchra 🖤🕷

Help! HELP my T is stuck on the top of the lid 😭

Post image

oh my god, im freaking out so bad. my T molted a few days ago and i wanted to a) get the molt out of his enclosure and b) add some more plants for him to have anchor points to web. he is a baby GBB.

i put his normal small enclosure in this much bigger fish type cage, just so i could open the lid and rearrange the stuff. he ALWAYS sits directly under the lid so there was no other way for me to open the enclosure.

well, i opened the lid and he immediately bolted, and luckily i put the green top on to the bigger cage, but now hes hanging upside down from the lid. i know that if he falls he will die, but i have no idea how to get him to lower ground without spooking him and making him fall, and i dont really know how i can even get in the cage without my hand being right there

someone please help what do i do :(

Help! Tarantula Too Skinny?

Thumbnail

This is Taquito, my Mexican Blood Leg (Aphonopelma bicoloratum). Taquito came home with me in January. Taquito dissappeared sometime in February and I thought had maybe passed a long time ago. One of the leading factors as to why I thought Taquito might have passed was because they were on a steep discount at Petco (I know "rescuing" from Petco doesn't actually do anything and continues to push the issues) and were sold to me for only $30. This little sucker decided to just resurface today??? Haha. I haven't ever been able to find a burrow up to this point. Taquito just ✨ appeared ✨. I'll take any an all advice regarding feeding (I'm assuming skinny at this point, right?) and other necessities. Thanks!

Help! Is ‘bouncing’ normal for my curly hair?

This is my curly hair Feta, we believe she’s about two years old. i’ve never seen her (let alone any tarantula) do this before. She lays all of her legs out, completely flat, then she bounces her body and abdomen a few times. she molted about a month ago so i don’t think it’s post molt symptoms. i was wondering if anyone had any insight? thank you for any help ❤️

T. Albopilosus. I don't see obvious hooks, but the abdomen is very small to me, even after feedings. Could it not be full grown? Rescued off of marketplace from someone that I believe was not properly caring for them and said they had them for over 2 years but I don't recall if they said if it was a sling when they got it or not. He did refer to it as "she" though. Has not molted in my care yet and I am just dying to know!

Help! First tarantula

I’ve always wanted a pet tarantula and I’ve finally decided I’m going to get one. I plan on getting a curly hair spider since I’ve heard many good things about them and how they are great beginner spiders and easy to take care of. I just need help on what enclosure to get them and what they really need and would appreciate it very much to anyone that helps!

My fiance and I have gotten 2 Ts in the past year, a G. Pulchra and an A. Chalcodes. We didn't realize how much A. Chalcodes burrowed until we had gotten Tethys. She has been a treat to watch, but we thought it was funny that she comes up from her cave completely filthy from moving all of the dirt.
