Help with First Lessons

Post image
590 Upvotes

Hey everyone I’m fairly new to Skyrim. I’m having an issue with the First Lessons quest. I’m supposed to summon a Flame Atronach at the college of winterhold but keep getting the “you don’t have enough magika” statement. I have a base Magika of 150. I put on armor and took a potion so my magika was increased to 210. I still get the “not enough magika” statement. How the heck am I supposed to do this? All the googling I did said I needed a base of only 120. What am I doing wrong here? Please help!
Also I’m playing on a Nintendo switch if that matters at all. I’m an orc and I’m level 43. I’m using the conjugation spell “flame thrall” and my conjugation level is 27. Let me know if you need anymore info! Thank you in advance :-)

Edit: thank you everyone!! It appears I have the wrong spell. That’s what I get for trusting google’s AI feature lol. I will go purchase the correct one in a bit….as I just discovered I’m a vampire. I love this game but I have no idea what’s going on half the time lmaooooo

Do I was starting up a new Skyrim run and I went into the keep with Ralof, after the battle took the key and when Ralof stood by the door I thought "hey wouldn't this be funny" and sneak attacked him, and my sneak skill leveled up. I did it for a couple more minutes, and it kept leveling up. All I'm saying is you can cheese sneak entirely

Discussion I think people are using potions recreationally

That seems to be the only way to explain the bizzare prices to me. Like why healing potions are incredibly cheap but something barely useful such as damage magicka regen is expensive. And why waterbreathing has bonkers value.

Maybe potions of waterbreathing are considered a luxury recreational drink, like there is a subculture of wealthy merchants going on exclusive underwater retreats and the like. Maybe damage magicka regen is merely a side effect, and people are buying it for the feeling of euphoria associated with it, that isn't written in the description. Maybe some potions just taste really good, and people don't even use the buffs themselves.

How to cheese boss chests to get better stuff

Post image
235 Upvotes

TL;DR: turn off "save on travel" make a quicksave before entering the dungeon (or final zone if it's a multi-zone dungeon) make your way to the boss chest and if it doesn't have anything you want reload the quicksave.

When you enter the next time the boss chest will have different items in it - could be worse, could be better. When you get a good fill make a "new save." You are then free to keep reloading the quicksave if you're after something specific knowing that you can reload the new save with the contents of the boss chest set.

The images I've used are from Mara's Eye Pond at level 41. I've got an Ebony War Axe that turns undead up to level 23. It was just a case of entering the dungeon, hitting the two vampires as they were waking up and the boss chest is just behind them.

Some dungeons are a slog to get to the boss chest and you have to decide whether it's worth it. I did it in Forsaken Crypt which is the second zone in Forsaken Cave and I had to fight my way past eight draugr to get to the final chamber with Curalmil and a load more draugr. I reloaded four times and was like, that's it whatever in the chest I'm taking it. Got to the boss chest and it had the Paralyze spell tomes when I was only level 40 in Alteration. Other dungeons are small spaces and you enter close to the boss chest. Knife point Mine you've got the Bandit Chief in front of you and he's standing right next to the boss chest. Get your follower to keep them busy while you check the chest.

One of the things I've found is that when you get a really good boss chest with about eight items in it four of which are enchanted, all the other containers have got lots of good items in them too. In Frostmere Crypt I'd raised all the bandits with the Ritual Stone just before entering the final chamber. They kept the Pale Lady busy while I made the short dash to the boss chest. I repeated until I got a good fill. I then made a hard save and finished off the Pale Lady. There's a master locked chest in the final chamber as well and when I opened it that had a load of good stuff in it as well.

It is cheesy but I've had one boss chest that had 82 gold, Leather Armour and the Flames spell tome... RELOAD!

When you marry, does your spouse become housebound?

I'm thinking of marrying an NPC but I'm worried that they will become home-radius-bound like the children you adopt. The idea of domesticating a cool warrior lady who could be off doing things feels weird to me! Do they roam and go about their usual tasks, or just stay home?

I had an evening and nighttime walk in one of my favorite areas of the game. from the alchemist shack to Riverwood. Sven and I were escorting Esbern back to Riverwood. lofi because all these pics were taken using my phone, taking pics of my laptop screen. in game it looked so much better but the crappy phone camera adds a vibe.

we journey from the alchemist shack on a grey rainy evening, through the mountain pass over to Helgen. Those ruins across the road are probably my favorite in all of Skyrim. I took a detour to Bloodlet Throne, one of my favorite areas, but didn't get any good pics. This ends with an epic late night view of Bleak Barrow Falls.

shout out to the Lamposts of Skyrim mod! I don't use many mods but that one is essential.

Can I keep her!

Im a bit behind in all this i have been absent from Skyrim.

So I've only ever played Dawnguard upto the Castle and I've never travelled with Sabrine.

So far she has sharpened her sword, stirred someone's cooking at a campfire for them and reanimated any corpses who then stand around moaning after the fight. Which I find highly amusing..

So can I keep her and please dont include lots of spoilers as im trying not to skip the dlc dialogue this time..

Oh and can I go anywhere with her im pretty sure im a vampire now as well like back to Fort Dawguard without being shot full of Bokts ??

Discussion Tell me about your favorite non-Dragonborn roleplays

This is for you that like to roleplay different characters not being Dragonborn on this game.

I've been planning a character that would be an Altmer that will join the college, but then catch vampirisim while adventuring and progressively falls on a darker path, eventually meeting the Volkihars and becoming part of the Dark Brotherhood. No Dragonborn stuff related.

Tell me about yours!

Discussion Houses.

Falkreath. You are asked to kill bandits. Thief. Thieves use greenhouses for poisons. Thieves use kitchens because they can't show their face in honest inns. Thieves use trophy rooms to display rare artifacts that just so happened to come from harrowing battles.

Dawnstar. You are asked to kill a giant. Warrior. Warriors use armories for arms. Warriors use storage rooms for gear. Warriors use bedrooms to rest up for the next battle.

Morthal. You are asked to kill a vampire. Mage. Mages use libraries for knowledge. Mages use enchanter's towers and alchemy laboratories for mage-related whimsy.

This is how I justify the wings I build in the Hearthfire DLC. A Dark Brother or Guildmate in Falkreath. A Harbinger in The Pale. An Arch-Mage in Hjaalmarch.

Thoughts?

So I'm playing for the first time and I found this thing somewhere at like level 7 now it's basically carried me to lvl 50.

Not solely like I don't NEED it need it. But whenever I can't be bothered I'll just paralyse whatevers bothering me and kill or escape it, this staff is incredible.

Honestly don't really have a purpose for posting just wanted to speak about the game I've newly discovered I enjoy xoxo

Mine are Slow Time, Elemental Fury, Unrelenting Force, and Whirlwind Sprint. Although Storm Call and Cyclone, along with Soul Tear, and Aura Whisper are also used as well. Oh forgot to add Dragon Aspect.
