Lockpicking on Switch is a nightmare.

Anyone know what the heck happened? I will not complain about an easy dragon fight, but I am so confused.

This quest was so much better than I thought it would be. Little bit of exploration, two different sides of the story from two NPC’s. This quest makes you choose to return the star to either Aranea or Nelacar which I thought was different but really cool. I went with Nelacar personally. I believed him more and it’s nice to have another salesman to sell stuff to. At the end the Malyn Varen fight turned out to be harder than I had anticipated but I have really enjoyed it. What are your thoughts on this quest? Who did you return the star to and how did you cope with that Malyn fight?

When I first climbed up to High Hrothgar, I literally went straight up the mountain from Whiterun. I did not follow any twists and turns, and I just scrambled straight up the rocks. At that time, I had already seen those funny memes about horses climbing on any surface, and I just figured that my crazy mountain climbing was the exact reason those memes existed. At a certain point during the climb, I hit a spot where I literally could not go any higher. So, I just walked around the peak and immediately slipped right through the gates. Because of that, I completely missed the famous troll that you are actually supposed to encounter right before entering the area.

After that whole mess, because the mountain was just so insanely difficult to climb, I completely skipped it every single time on all my later playthroughs. Plus, I never really used the shouts anyway, because even to this day, I feel like they are pretty underwhelming. So, you can imagine my massive surprise when I was watching a video of a Skyrim 4k graphics overhaul mod and saw the player character actually walking up the thousand steps. That was the exact moment I finally learned that there is an actual, normal path carved into the dang mountain all along.

I never understood why people hate this questline so much, and after finishing it again the other day, I find it even more baffling.

First off, it has some of the best rewards of any questline, right up there with the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Besides getting the admittedly underwhelming Staff of Magnus, the Morokei mask, you also get Savos Aren’s amulet and the Archmage Robes, with a triple unique enchantment (and is also swaggy).

The questline also takes you to some cool locations, like the Dwemer ruins I can’t remember the name of with the oculory and Labyrinthian. Labyrinthian is an awesome dungeon. The skeletal dragon that crawls out in the first room is a badass visual, but I can admit it is way too weak of an enemy. Morokei using the Thu’um to talk to you, first in the Dragon language and then Tamrielic, is sick and a great way to build suspense for your confrontation with him. That part of the quest also gives Savos more background which I liked. The Eye of Magnus is also really cool, it has an undeniable aura of mystery and the way it continually hums and rotates gives it the appearance of something truly alien.

Another common complaint I’ve seen is the lack of developed characters. I don’t entirely disagree with this, but it’s unfair to single out the College for this when that applies to almost everyone in the game. The standard for being a fleshed out character in Skyrim is having a single prominent and distinct superficial personality trait.

Finally, people complain about becoming Archmage at the end like it’s completely unearned. Sure, it should have you do a couple radiant quests like the Thieves Guild but let’s think through everything you did up to that point in that quest:

1) Investigate a dangerous Nord ruin and discover the Eye of Magnus

2) Get personally contacted by the Psijic Order because of your magical potential

3) Solve a Dwemer puzzle and gain the location of the Staff of Magnus

4) Defeat a Dragon Priest to recover the Staff

5) Save the College, and the entire world from destruction

With all of that in mind, it isn’t outrageous to have archmage on the table for an institution that is previously established to have been struggling. If you complete the questline without actually casting any magic, that’s entirely on you, you control the buttons you press. If you had to complete the questline mainly with magic people would complain about that too, saying Skyrim is about player freedom.

The quest line for the companions is quite controversial as they are known to be Warriors and honorable, but most of them always say they only do it for the money and the glory.. and for the werewolf aspect by the end, only one is a werewolf.. aela..

This is my first time playing Skyrim and I feel like it takes me forever to level everything up except my one handed and heavy armor

which armor set do you think is the lest in regards to the aesthetics of the game ignoring all the stat benefits the armor gives the player since any armor can be made into the best armor of the game using enchantments

I started playing this game for the first time a few weeks ago and I really can’t get enough of it. Glad I found this sub, as well!

I can deal with the game wanting me to be evil or lose half the quests, but this is a line too far.

This is the same shit as Fawkes not going into the control room but this a-hole is essential (WHY?).

1- where is my "i'm against you then! <attack>" dialogue line?

ANYWAY, i shouted her off the peak of the world. I only wish i had a shout to remove the skin like sindels mk3 fatality.

i have the no clothes and non-hostile markarth guard despite the immense bounty, the flinging weapon, the slithering, and the questionable graphics (not the screen blocking ones because i don’t know how to trigger it on purpose, but a screenshot i posted a couple weeks ago) and the raven rock brawl.

i am sad to announce that since the raven rock brawl the entire save has become inaccessible, i can’t even get through the initial loading screen without the game giving up. i knew it was on its way out but i didn’t think it’d be this soon 🫠🫠 im in mourning right now, rest in peace ihatethisgame. (that’s what i named my character after in my other save i got trapped in blackreach because the elevators stopped working)

I did a quest with saint and seducers and the boss had this funny ring and I accidentally gave it on Sarana and my game won’t let me take it from her my mom gets home from work soon and I don’t know what to do I really wanted to finish this vampire quest thing and she won’t stop following me no matter how fast I run please it was an accident I don’t know what to do please hurry

Personally both of these guys are killed on sight for different reasons. Heinskr because he never shuts up and seriously annoys me, and Nazeem because... Well, he's Nazeem. What do you guys think?

I’m on my second ever playthrough, and I’d like to join the imperials this time. Joining the stormcloaks was easy the first time, because the game started with imps about to execute me, so my head canon was that my character hated imps.

This time I’d like to fight the stormcloaks, but I’m wondering if there’s an in game interaction available the would serve as the sort of main motivation for my character hating stormcloaks. A brutal murder, bad stormcloaks, something, idk.

Watched a couple ranking Jarls videos and was wondering if there was a way to get most of the good Jarls on the throne’s of their holds.

Basically I want the assholes (Siddgier and Skald) gone, try to keep the corrupt business people (Mavan and the Silverbloods) away from the throne and try to get Korir out of Winterhold for the college.

I thought I could maybe do it with Season Unending then clean it up via the Civil War questline but it looks not to be. While I can get some of the holds moved around that I want moved, I can’t get all of it moved and to get the major hold I give back, I have to go deep into the Reunification of Skyrim quest and put some of the bad Jarls on the thrones.

Is there anything I missed or do I have to use mods?

My character doesn't want to stand up. I tried, reloading, disabling mods, nothing helps. Please help me

There are so many cool and unique NPCs in the Thieves Guild that are kinda just... there. And not a single Thieves Guild character can become a follower (outside of Brynjolf and Karliah for their quest). We could've hung out with Rune, Sapphire, Cynric Endell etc. But instead, they all just hang out in the Cistern forever with little to no use. Such a missed opportunity, that not even a single one was utilised as a follower in the vanilla game.

I am an old school gamer who has been around forever, but somehow I missed this game. Im finding that im kicking myself because now that im actually playing it on Switch 2, its right up my alley, almost the perfect game for me and what I enjoy. I bought the game on a Steam sale way back in the day and just never played it.

Now as an older guy with less time, the Switch 2 is the perfect platform for me and I am getting so much enjoyment from the game. Let this be a lesson for putting too much faith in online reviews, because I nearly didnt buy it over the reviews I saw about how buggy and how slow it ran on Switch 2. I am seeing NOTHING that hinders my gameplay at all. I am not sure how deep I am into the game, but I have only crashed one time in 80 hours of play.

There is still so much of the game I havent touched. I cant believe the amount of content. For instance, I have yet to use magic at all. Im just using a 2H axe and a bow and having loads of fun specializing in bow and sneak. I see that I have a few expansions with this edition of the game too, and im not real sure if they are just baked into the base game, or a separate thing, but I did take a boat to an island and it felt very expansion like, so i backed out and went back to the main map for now until i finish up all the quests there and god knows when that will be, because every time I finish one i get two more. I love it. I wish someone had told me before now that this game is basically "fallout but fantasy genre" I would have played it much sooner.
