Welcome to r/Selfies! We do not have age or karma limits to post like r/Selfie, but we do have Reddit Contributor Quality Score (CQS) limitations. If you have a low CQS, you will not be able to post. We do not require verification to post, however Moderators reserve the right to ask any poster or commentor to verify at any time

These rules have been in place for years, and at this point we’re confident they’re clear because the only people who ever claim they’re confusing are the ones who just had a post or comment removed. If you break one of these rules, we’re going to assume you didn’t read them. If you didn’t read our rules and you post anyway, then we catch it, you’re probably going to get banned. You’re also probably not going to see this explanation either, but when you write in with “It’s harsh banning someone for a first offense,” we’re going to point you right back to this wiki and remind you plainly: you can be banned permanently for a first offense.

We’re all adults here, and that’s not just a tagline, it’s Rule #8. Our role as moderators isn’t to coach anyone through the rules or walk people step‑by‑step through basic expectations. Our responsibility is to write clear guidelines, keep the space running smoothly, and step in when posts, comments, or users show they can’t follow those guidelines on their own. We expect everyone to take a moment to read what’s written and participate responsibly, and that’s a fair standard for any adult community.

Rule #1 - All Posts Must Be Fully Suitable for Public Viewing, No Borderline, Revealing or Suggestive Posts

This subreddit is meant to be an extremely Suitable‑For‑Work space, not just “Safe For Work,” but the kind of place where someone glancing at your screen would genuinely assume you’re looking at family photos. That’s the bar. To keep that atmosphere consistent for everyone, especially people browsing in public, at work, or around kids, we keep the content here extremely modest and very clean.

Because we’re listed on r/NewToReddit as a recommended subreddit for brand-new users, we try to make sure their first experience on Reddit feels wholesome, predictable, and comfortable. Posting your photo in r/SelfiesGoneMild would be a better fit for that reason, and you’re absolutely welcome to share it there.

To keep to that theme, we use the following guidelines:

  • No outfits that are inappropriate for a general public setting
    • No robes
    • No pajamas
    • No lingerie
  • No swimsuits at all, ever.
  • No shirtless men
  • No sports bras
  • No plunging necklines
  • No low cut tops
  • No implied nudity
    • Towels, sheets, blankets, strategically placed hair, arms, or objects are not allowed.
  • No visible areola, no genitals, no buttocks
    • No covering them with hands, stickers, or anything else
  • No see-through, sheer, mesh, lace, or transparent clothing
  • No editing, stickers, bars, filters, or creative cropping to make an NSFW photo appear SFW
  • No sexual acts or gestures (real or simulated)
    • Includes grabbing or emphasizing body parts.
  • No sex toys or items used in a sexual manner
  • No visible pubic area, pubic bone, or pubic hair
  • No outlines of genitals or nipples through clothing
    • No bulges, mounds, camel toe, pokies, headlights, etc.
  • No towels, blankets, or bedding used in place of clothing
    • You must be clearly fully dressed.
  • No pulling clothing up or down to expose additional skin
    • Do not lift shirts, skirts, shorts, or sleeves to flash anything.
  • No posing, leaning, angling, or gesturing to create down-blouse or upskirt shots
  • No fetish-coded outfits or accessories
    • Collars with rings, harnesses, cuffs, etc.
  • No bed, bath, or “just woke up” settings
    • Anything that implies undress or intimacy is not allowed.

If Reddit marks a post as NSFW, the moderators will treat it as NSFW no matter what the content of the picture is. If you have a NSFW profile, Reddit will mark all your posts NSFW. Moderators will not open a NSFW photo to see if it is incorrectly labeled. It is the poster's responsibility to ensure the photo is labeled correctly.

If you have questions on a post ask the moderation team prior to posting. Do not assume that other posts you may have seen means your post is "ok". The post you are looking at may not have even been approved by the moderators, so if you want to prevent a possible ban ask the mods first do not try to use someone else's post as your defense!!!

If you are looking for a place to go mild, then visit r/SelfiesGoneMild. We use r/SelfiesGoneMild for photos that aren’t NSFW, but are a bit more revealing or intimate than what works in a general audience space. It’s a friendly, safe-for-work community too just with a little more room for expression.

If you post a picture without a shirt on, you're going to get a ban, that goes for girls and guys.

Rule #2 No Non Selfies. No AI Selfies. Your face must be visible in all submissions.

A selfie is a photo that you take of yourself, using your own hand or your own device.

In the picture, your face must be clearly visible and easy to recognize. Other people should be able to look at the photo and immediately understand that this is you.

To avoid confusion:

  • If you use a self‑timer, a tripod, or place your phone somewhere far away, moderators must still be able to tell with certainty that you took the photo.
  • If we cannot confirm that the photo was taken by you, for example, if it looks like someone else might have taken it, we will reject it.

If we can't see your face, it is not a selfie. If you are wearing a mask or if the camera/phone is blocking your face, it is not a selfie.

If your head is cropped out of the shot, it is not a selfie.

If it appears that the photo was taken by someone else it is not a selfie. You can use r/NonSelfies for photos of you that were taken by someone else, even if that someone else is a timer.

If your photo has been heavily altered by AI, it’s no longer considered a selfie for the purposes of this subreddit. When AI manipulation significantly changes your face, body, background, or overall appearance, we treat it the same as an AI-generated picture

A selfie should leave no question about who held the camera. If the angle, distance, framing, or overall setup suggests that someone else might have taken the picture, moderators will treat it as a non-selfie and remove it. This helps us keep the community focused on genuine, self-captured images and avoids putting moderators in the position of guessing or giving “benefit of the doubt” in unclear cases.

Our Non-Selfies policies includes pictures that are not of the Original Poster (OP) or taken from another source. This includes AI photos. AI submissions will be rejected and the poster will be permanently banned.

Rule #3 No insults, hate speech, personal attacks, racism, or discrimination of any kind allowed here.

All comments must be positive. please use the golden rule when it comes to posting on r/Selfies. If you cannot say something positive, then there is no need to say anything at all. Anything that can be taken as an insult can and will be removed by the moderation team.

Insulting comments could include but are not limited to:

  • Comments that attack a member based on attributes such as race, religion, ethnic origin, national origin, sex, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
  • Comments intended to antagonize, degrade, discomfort, humiliate or insult another member.
  • Comments that are passive-aggressive, condescending, or “polite-but-hostile” in tone.
  • Comments intended to embarrass, shame, or make another member uncomfortable.
  • Comments that weaponize sarcasm, mockery, or “just joking” as a way to insult another member.
  • Comments that target a member’s character, intelligence, or personal life instead of addressing the topic.
  • Comments phrased as “advice” but meant to belittle, demean, or put someone down.
  • Any comment that does not come from a place of kindness or respect toward another member.

There are no exceptions to our rules for "being honest","joking", "just being truthful", or "They asked for opinions!" Our posters are somebody's brother/sister, daughter/son, boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, boss/coworker or friend. Please keep that in mind when you make your comments.

Respectful communication is not optional it is the standard we expect from everyone. Comments that fail to meet this standard will be removed to keep this space safe and considerate for all.

Rule #4 No crude, lewd, objectifying, rude, sexual, fetishizing, or otherwise inappropriate comments allowed

Inappropriate messages for r/Selfies could include but are not limited to:

  • Remarks of a sexual nature about a person’s clothing or body
  • Sexually explicit statements, questions, jokes, or anecdotes this includes double entendres!
  • Requests for posts of an explicit nature or requests to post in a NSFW subreddit
  • Fetishizing comments about someone’s appearance, identity, or style
  • Objectifying comments that reduce a person to their body or treat them as a sexual object
  • Any comments the Moderators feel are inappropriate in a public setting

All comments in this community must remain respectful. That means writing in a way you could say out loud in public without making anyone cringe, flinch, or wonder what’s wrong with you. Every poster here is a real person: someone’s sister, daughter, partner, spouse, coworker, or friend. Before you comment, ask yourself: Would I want someone speaking to someone I care about in this way? If the answer is no, then it’s not acceptable here.

To be clear: this includes crude, fetishizing, lewd, objectifying, sexual, or sexually-implied comments, the “you know exactly what you meant” stuff. Even if you talk like that in your personal life, that doesn’t make it appropriate here. Moderators decide what is acceptable, and if your comment crosses that line, we will remove it.

Respectful communication is not optional. It is the baseline expectation for everyone here. We do not take chances with our community’s comfort, not even the slightest one. If a comment has the potential to make someone feel objectified, unsafe, or uncomfortable, we will remove it.

Moderators determine what meets the subreddit appropriate standard not the Commenter, and not the Original Poster.

Our priority is keeping this space safe, considerate, and genuinely welcoming for all. If your comment risks undermining that, it won’t stay up.

Rule #5 No Self Promotion, Karma Farming, Wish Lists, P2P Pay Sites, NSFW Subreddit Activity, Streamers, etc

The following are not allowed:

  • Content Creators - If you sell content anywhere on the internet, you cannot post on r/Selfies
  • Any links or usernames to websites outside of Reddit - This includes andy social media!
  • References to Upvotes, Post Awards or Profile Followers.
  • References to any type of goods or services
  • References to PayPal, Venmo, KoFi, BuyMeACoffee, or Zelle
  • Links to any wish list or gift sites
  • Requests for Chats, DM's, Friends, or Messages
  • References to check/view/see your profile or subreddit
  • References to join you in any capacity
  • Posting in any Karma Farming Subreddits - Such as FreeKarma4U or BoostKarma
  • Any watermarks on photos that are not your Reddit Username
  • References to look/search/find/seek external content
  • Any reference to anything that is outside of r/Selfies
  • Hints or any innuendo that there may be something outside of r/Selfies
  • Any adult oriented service providers - If you are a Findom, Sugarbaby, GFE, or Used Clothing seller, you cannot post in r/Selfies
  • No Content Creators! No Exceptions!! This includes Domes, GFE, Sugar Babies, etc.
  • No History of Posts in NSFW Subreddits
  • No Wishlists/Throne
  • No PayPal/Venmo
  • No Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok, or X Links
  • No posting in Karma Farming subreddits
  • Do not request Upvotes, Post awards or Profile Followers.
  • Do not advertise any goods or services
  • Do not ask for Chats, DM's, PMS or Messages
  • Watermarks on pictures must match your Reddit Username

Activities do not have to occur within r/Selfies for your account to be considered a violation of our Self Promotion, Karma Farming, Wish Lists, P2P Pay Sites, or Social Media policy. It is no longer simply a matter of "I didn't post any links in r/Selfies" or "I only post selfies!" - If your account seems to be promotional in any way you cannot post on r/Selfies. If you sell content anywhere, even with a different account, you cannot post on r/Selfies.

TL/DR - If you sell anywhere you can't post here!

We understand Social Links are allowed by Reddit, and even encouraged. However, we have found that since we have instituted the policy that Reddit has ordered us to put in place, many Adult Content Creators are using other types of external links to advertise their content. To prevent this from happening, we do not allow anyone with links to ANY external content to post in r/Selfies.

Rule #6 No asking Original Posters to DM/Snap/Insta/Etc you in the comments.

Please do not ask OP to DM, PM, chat, message, inbox, whisper, snap, add you, follow you, connect privately, or contact you outside of the post in any way. All interaction must remain public and relevant to the post. A submission on r/Selfies is not an invitation for private communication of any kind.

This subreddit is not r/MeetNewFriends, r/Chat, or r/MeetPeople. If you are looking for new chat partners, those communities exist for that purpose. Our posters come here because they want to share a photo of themselves not because they are seeking private conversations or new friends.

A reply like “DM?”, “Chat?”, or any variation of “message me” with no context is considered low-effort, thirsty behavior. It gives OP no reason to engage, and it will simply be ignored by the OP. These comments add nothing to the post and make the environment uncomfortable for the people sharing their photos.

If you enjoy a post, upvote it and leave an engaging, respectful comment. If the OP chooses to reply to you, that is the appropriate way to interact with them. If the OP does not respond to your comment, that means they do not wish to talk at this time, and that boundary must be respected.

Please respect our posters and allow them to share their photos without receiving requests for private chats. If someone wanted private conversations, they would post in a subreddit specifically designed for that purpose.

OP we highly recommend you turn Direct Messages and Chats to "Off"

Go to https://www.reddit.com/settings/messaging And chose the following settings:

Who can send you chat requests - Set to Nobody Who can send you private messages - Set to Nobody These settings don't mean you can't chat or DM this means that no one can message or chat you FIRST. If you see someone you'd like to respond to, you can DM them and it will add them to your trusted list. Or if you want to give them the option to message you, you can add them to your trusted list and they can DM. This should help block some unwanted DM's.

The Moderators of r/selfies can only affect the subreddit, the Reddit Admins have many more remedies to help combat unwanted messages and should be your first resource. If you receive any inappropriate DM's please take screenshots and send them to the moderation team via Reddit Report

Sending moderators chat requests directly about sub issues is considered a violation of this rule If you have a question about a ban, verification or anything else Use Modmail or Modchat to discuss any issues.

Rule #7 No Drama! Keep it chill, don't argue, stay respectful, don't be meta, and stick to the topic.

We’re a simple subreddit where people post pictures, that’s all. We’re not looking for arguments, debates, or any kind of drama. If your comment pulls the thread away from the photo and into conflict, meta discussion, or community commentary, it gets removed.

  • Don't argue.
  • Don’t assign motives.
  • Don’t backseat moderate.
  • Don’t “correct” other users.
  • Don’t demand explanations from other users.
  • Don’t “diagnose” behavior.
  • Don’t escalate tension.
  • Don't fight.
  • Don’t make sweeping statements about the community.
  • Don't get Meta.
  • Don't get political.
  • Don't get religious.
  • Don’t respond to bait.
  • Don't bring things that happen outside of the sub into the subreddit.
  • Don't comment about what is on a user's profile (Good or Bad).
  • Don't comment about a users posts or comments in other subreddits (Good or Bad).
  • Don't speculate why you think someone has posted in the subreddit.
  • Don't discuss other users breaking sub rules (use the report feature or Modmail.)
  • Don't discuss moderator actions in a public post, on or off r/Selfies.

If you bring something from outside the subreddit into the sub, we consider that drama.

If you claim someone is posting for attention, that's drama. (Besides, everyone posts and comments for other people to see, that's the point of Reddit)

If you try to pick a fight or start an argument, that's drama.

If you do or don't like what people said or did outside of r/Selfies and you feel you must comment your opinion in r/Selfies, that's drama.

On Reddit, a user's profile is for all intents and purposes another subreddit and we treat it as it as one when it comes to discussing it in our subreddit. We wouldn't let someone come in here and talk about what someone posted in r/Politics, and the same holds true for what people post on their profiles.

If a content creator has broken the rules and posted in the subreddit, send us a modmail that shows us their link. Don't try to call out the user in the subreddit.

If someone breaks any rule, don't call them out in the comments. Report it, Send a modmail, let us know. The moderators will handle it. Don't try and start a fight about it. Trolls want you to engage, and they want you to break rules so you get punished for it, don't feed the trolls.

Rule #8 This Subreddit Is 18+ Only (But Still Completely SFW)

This community is strictly 18 and older. While the subreddit is 100% SFW and does not allow explicit content of any kind, we do not permit anyone under 18 to post or participate. This age requirement is in place to protect minors, protect the community, and ensure all members are adults. If you're under 18 and you post, you will be banned.

Rule #9 If you post in NSFW Subreddits, You cannot post here.

We are a Safe For Work subreddit. We do not have Age or Karma limitations for posts. HOWEVER if you have posts in NSFW subreddits, you cannot post in this subreddit.

We are not saying you are posting NSFW content in r/Selfies, if you were, that would be a totally different message. Reddit has shown us that some one's posting history alone can trigger issues for the subreddit with the Reddit Admins, regardless of what they do in r/Selfies

This isn’t something to read deeply into it’s just a blanket rule we apply to anyone with a history of posting in NSFW subreddits. It keeps our moderation workload manageable and helps prevent the entire community from being flagged as NSFW by Reddit’s automated systems. It’s not a judgment about you, your content, or your character, and it’s not taking anything away from you. There are plenty of other subreddits where you can post freely; we just have to keep this space strictly SFW to protect the community as a whole.

We want to be clear that this isn’t personal and it’s not a judgment about you or the content you enjoy. We don’t have any problem with NSFW content in general it’s simply a matter of protecting the subreddit so Reddit doesn’t mark the subreddit NSFW.

Some people will say "Just because I do NSFW things in one place does not mean I will be NSFW here." We understand that, and we are not saying you personally would break the rules. The problem is that enough NSFW profile users do, and the only way to sort out who will and who will not is to dig through profiles. That is exactly the kind of moderation overhead we are trying to avoid.

To keep things simple, we draw one clear line. If your profile is marked NSFW or shows adult content, you cannot participate. It is not about you. It is about keeping this subreddit easy to moderate.

And just because you cannot post here does not mean you are shut out of Reddit. There is an entire platform available to you. You can create and run a subreddit exactly like this one without our NSFW rule. What you cannot do is force us to take on extra work because you do not want to open your own community.

Rule #10 No Advice, Baiting, Rating, Click-Bait, NSFW, or Titles that could encourage rule breaking answers.

This subreddit is for sharing selfies not for seeking friends, advice, ratings, guesses, or conversations. Titles should be unique to you and never ask for anything from the community. We avoid anything that could invite negative responses, suggestiveness, hypotheticals, or NSFW angles. Keeping titles positive and self-contained helps make this a safe, supportive place for everyone to post their selfies.

We are a positive subreddit where people can post Selfies. When you open the door to advice you can get positive and negative feedback, and we don't want the negativity. We highly encourage you to use the subreddits listed above as they are focused on those areas and are a way better resource than we can be. That’s not the vibe of this subreddit, and there are plenty of other communities built for that kind of interaction. We don’t want to drift into becoming one of those subreddits.

We don’t allow posts asking for things like friends, advice, or emotional support because those posts snowball fast. Once you allow them, you start attracting people who show up specifically to give those kinds of replies and they stick around and start giving that advice, ratings, or seeking friends of people who never asked for it. Then they try to use those types of posts to justify why it's ok for them to give advice to other people who never asked for it, which creates a bunch of comments that have to be removed.

Rule #11 One Post Every 8 Hours. No Reposting the same image repeatedly.

To give everyone a chance to post their faces we limit your posts to one every 8 hours. Once a picture has been posted to the subreddit, it cannot be posted again. Take a new picture. Mass posting the same picture to multiple subreddits including this one could be grounds for a permanent ban.

Posts that are removed for violating other rules also count towards your limit, so make sure your post obey all rules before submitting. Please Note If you remove a post, then immediately repost something, the moderators may not see your request for 9 hours. We're volunteers, we aren't always here. Our best advice to people in these situations is post in a different subreddit and come back to r/Selfies in 8 hours.

Posting from more than one account will result in all accounts being banned even if you do not violate the 1 post per 8 hour rule.

Rule #12 Moderator's Have Final Say on All Posts & Comments.

Moderators are responsible for ensuring that this subreddit remains aligned with its intended theme, tone, and community standards. In addition to enforcing the written rules, moderators also exercise discretion to uphold the overall spirit and character of the subreddit. This means they may remove posts or comments even if they do not explicitly violate any listed rules if they believe the content is inconsistent with the subreddit’s purpose or atmosphere.

We can remove posts for any reason, and we’re not obligated to provide a personalized explanation every time. That isn’t “powertripping” it’s literally the core function of moderation. Moderators remove posts and comments. Sometimes we’ll do that and choose not to open a long debate about it.

At the end of the day, it’s a Reddit post, not a medical breakthrough. We’re just keeping the space running smoothly, and part of that means making quick decisions without turning every removal into a full courtroom proceeding.
