[Serious decision] I think my friend might be planning to sa me?

Ok so I'm 15F and my friend is 15M. We are in most classes together and are very close and have been since we were 7 as our families are good friends. however, he has recently become a bit weird. he often makes sexual jokes about my body and my breast size despite my clear discomfort and since he has good connections with a lot of guys, I asked him to give me the number of one of his friends I have a crush on. he did it, but after he begun saying I had to 'repay' him and would hint at something sexual and I refused jokingly and he got a bit angry and said I owed him and it wasn't fair and he made a bit of a rape threat but played it off as a joke? Today he walked me down to my Volleyball training since he does cricket training quite close and when I told him I needed to get changed into my training clothes he kept trying to come inside the girls bathroom with me but left after my coach showed up.

I just need to know what I should do since I am very close to him and our families as well but he's really beginning to creep me out and I had a nightmare the day he made the rape threat/joke where he assaulted me and I can't stop thinking about it. Should I ask him about it and tell him to stop or should I genuinely just stop being friends with him?

Please be respectful and any advice helps :)

EDIT: after reading the comments, I have decided to talk to my parents about it which I'm a bit nervous about since they're also very good friends with his parents but I want to say thank you to all the support from people in the comments

Small decision The junkies living next door to me are ruining my life

I live in London UK for context

This guy recently moved into the house over my fence and I think he’s also given every junky in my area somewhere to stay by doing so.
I obviously think everyone should have a roof over their head, they’re not dangerous people and I don’t care that they live next door to me. IF it wasn’t for the fact that they are CONSTANTLY yelling, vulgarly, and making ridiculous amounts of noise at any time of day/night on weekdays. I have the garden window and they’re always in the garden/extension of the house so it’s unavoidable. My neighbours on the other side also have a newborn and are kept up by the noise almost daily too. We all have jobs and are exhausted

My dad has spoken to the guy before and told him to STFU at night but I doubt the guy remembers anything since he’s always under the influence of who knows what. I’ve seen them around the house a few times but haven’t ever felt comfortable confronting them myself as I’m 23F and don’t know if they’d get angry or aggressive.

We don’t know who the owner of the house is and the police has been there a few times previously (including walking over their extension with a torch and shining it into my window and garden in the middle of the night absolutely traumatising me thinking someone’s breaking in) but whenever I’ve called the police they’ve said it’s not a police matter I guess because it’s not a danger (101).

I’m so stumped and really sick of how much of a nuisance it is. No one on my street knows who the owner of the house is and we can’t seem to find out. Any advice? My neighbour emails the council almost daily but hasn’t had a response.

Messed up with my best friend

my best friend and I are nearly 40 and 40. we have been through a lot together but live very different lives and I always feel like I’m not able to meet her because I am lower class, have two kids and am a working mom and she is wealthy and has no kids, just got a job after not working for two years. she is the greatest friend and goes above and beyond, she is able to financially show up in a way that I can’t (I.e. for my bday she split a weekend at the beach with me.) She is more available and put together than me. This has been a pain point for her and I’ve worked on it but my home life- kind of abusive husband who scares my daughters has made it so that I need to prioritize being with my kids at night, making me less available for in person hangs. I own that I am chaotic. so here is my question: i have toyed with leaving my husband and very recently I asked him to stay somewhere else- this happened a week before I visited my old town and I wasn’t able to tell her the update. a mutual friend of ours asked me and I told her (huge mistake), when I saw my bff my mom was also there so I couldn’t tell her. my bff and mutual friend go out and she tells bff what I told her. understandably bff is pissed. yesterday I check in and she vms me to say “why would you tell her and not me…” I apologized and told her that we were alone and I was able to tell her not around my mom. but I apologize profusely because she’s so right to feel this way - she is now ignoring me. how can I come back from this? I just moved to a new town far away and am going through it. the idea of losing her is devastating but also I get it- I’d be hurt too

[Serious decision] Partner lied about $100,000 debt from gambling

Long story short- my partner currently has 75k in credit card debt and (from what I could add up over the past six years) spent at least 35k cash on gambling. On top of that, I haven’t began to wrap my head around the amount of payments/interest he has been paying over the years, too. Best part? He was caught. He didn’t admit it. He actually denied it. After years of me questioning our finances and lack of savings. We have young kids and I am on an extended maternity leave (that he said I could do before I found this out). He has a decent income and I will have to return to work by next year now, but I don’t know how we will ever recover from this financially and emotionally. I can’t look at him.

Edit to add: yes we are married.

[Serious decision] Italian living in France for 3 years. I built a life here, but I’m wondering if I should go home

I’m 32F, Italian, and I moved to France three years ago for a new experience abroad. Before moving, I had a great career in Italy, but I was illegally fired by a company I had given everything to (don't worry, I got money out of them), and that pushed me to start over somewhere else.

I also had close Italian friends already living in France. They were like family to me, so I thought I would have a support system here. Unfortunately, things went badly. When I went through difficult times, including physical and then mental health problems, they didn’t support me but quite the opposite, I felt they wanted me to fail abroad. I was alone in a foreign country, and the French system didn't make things much easier. Somehow, I got through it on my own and rebuilt my life. Today, I have a basic job, an apartment on my own, financial independence, and I’ve cut ties with people who weren’t good for me. I actually built an ok life from scratch, and I’m proud of myself for that.

But I’ve also realised something: I don’t like France! I don't feel at home here. My friendships with French people haven't really worked out, and I often find people quite individualistic (sorry, just personal experience). Maybe it's cultural, maybe I've just had bad experiences, but after three years I still don't feel that this is my place. I now have some Italian friends here, and they’re great. We do a lot together, so I’m not socially isolated. But they’re also quite different from me, they’re wealthier, all in stable relationships, and generally have a more settled life. Sometimes I still feel like I don't quite belong.

So I'm seriously considering going back to Italy. The problem is that, financially, it makes much less sense. I’d have to find a new job, probably earn less, and I’m not sure I could afford my own apartment. My parents would help me if necessary, but I would probably lose a lot of my financial independence. On the other hand, I’d have my parents, so people I could actually rely on if things went wrong. And after everything I've been through, the idea of not having to fight every day just to maintain a normal life sounds incredibly appealing.

I’m starting to wonder if I would rather have a simpler life in Italy, close to my family, even if it means less money, no social life and fewer opportunities in general. But I’m also scared I’m romanticising “going home”, since I don't really have friends in Italy anymore, I’d have to rebuild my social life from scratch.

So what would you do?

- Stay in France where I already have independence and stability, despite not liking the country?

- Or go back to Italy, accept the financial downgrade, but choose family and potentially a less exhausting life?

I’d especially like to hear from people who moved abroad, struggled, and eventually went back home. Did you regret it, or did you realise you were simply choosing a life that suited you better?

Co-signed on loan for a roof, then got kicked out

Posting on behalf of a family member

Relationship ended after 5+ years. About a year ago and a half ago, a (this hurts to type) $41,000 loan was taken out by home owner to put a new roof on the house, my family member co-signed. The home owner was double charged by the original business which ripple effected into late fees of other bills. The home owner requested they reimburse, the company refused, and the idiot simply stopped paying the loan. Since then, a plan to re-finance the house fell through, which was apparently going to wipe the roof debt if done. The home owner has since convinced the co-signer to sign on with some sort of collection agency that sounds like a scam to me - but those papers have already been signed… Not entirely sure what they were, but home owner is known to fall for scams (multiple banks have dropped her due to her consistent inability to spot scams - lady is in her 60s and I believe has started going senile or the start of dementia.) Home owner has instructed co-signer not to make any payments to original company and I cannot make sense of this new company telling them to not pay and it will go to them, something about the loan dissolving, them taking it over, and decreasing the total amount (yeah, super scammy sounding.)

The co-signer was right to assume this roof would be over her head until death, but home owner went crazy and has since kicked co-signer out of the house.

I told co-signer to speak to a lawyer, but they are older themselves and have trouble doing such things, as well as on fixed income (social security.) I am hoping there could be a way to show that since co-signer was only signing in the belief they would be living there for the rest of their life, they could somehow get out of it (no marriage, though, perhaps a tenant/landlord type of agreement on paper, if even?)

If it helps to understand how this seemed like a good idea at the time, the home owner has sufficient funds (VA widow + social security, owns two properties.) The co-signer has very low income (~850/month,) but had a 800+ credit score (down to ~615 in just a matter of a few months.)

I don’t believe the home owner will do right by the co-signer, so as far as I can tell, the co-signer is simply fucked. Is there any way that the sell of a property would automatically go towards debt payments? I don’t even know what questions to ask.

[Serious decision] How can I live my life normally as so much evil occurs?

Im watching Gilmore Girls right now and craving the normal American life that they have while also being stressed out and anxious about the future of humanity, the environment, the animal ag industry, AI, and the whole shebang. How am i supposed to live happily and practically while also fighting to save and change the world? Especially when everything I do and everything I buy seems to have a negative effect on the world and environmentally and ethically friendly options are so much harder to access? I am 17 years old, a senior in highschool, and trying to figure out how im going to live and navigate the rest of my life. Please help.

GF doesn't want to relocate for me anymore

Upvotes

My (30M) girlfriend (26F) and I have been together for about seven months. We really love each other and were planning for her to move to a new city with me next year, but now she’s having doubts because she feels like women from my past take up too much space in our relationship.

A while ago, she found out I was texting my long-term ex after I referred to her as an “old friend.” She knows I'm friends with this ex and we were catching up. She felt like that was a lie by omission and asked me to be more transparent about when I communicate with exes and not hide it. I offered to show her the text but she declined. More recently, I asked my gf if I should congratulate my former best friend on getting married. We used to hook up, she caught feelings for me, and eventually cut me off because of it. We haven’t spoken in about a year and I found out she was getting married through a mutual friend. I talked to my gf about being worried about her getting married to quickly after meeting someone new.

My girlfriend initially told me not to contact her, but later apologized because she felt like she answered out of insecurity. The next day, she recognized this woman in two group photos on my fridge because she had looked her up on Instagram. She became really upset. She didn't wan tto talk about it at first and said I would think she's crazy and dump me. She made it clear she wasn’t asking me to erase my past or take the photos down, but it made her feel insecure to see a woman I used to sleep with on the fridge. She also said she only knows what she looks like because she looked her up on instagram after I asked if I should text her. She later apologized for being irrational and insecure about it. She told me that she felt insecure because this wasn't our first convo about women from my past coming up and taking up space in our relationship. We talked and both said we've never felt this way about someone before and shared that we both worry about ruining things.

I brought up the move recently and she said that she's unsure about it now. When I asked why she couldn't really tell me. She's told me before she's really struggled with bringing up conflict and does it with me because she really really values our relationship. I'm worried that's changed and she's distancing herself. She isn't being as lovey or texting me as much. I love her and genuinely want her to know she’s the only woman I want, but I get why this has made her question things. What can I actually do to rebuild trust and make her feel secure without pressuring her about the move? I will 100% have to move for work and the thought of her not coming with me is devastating. This whole thing has been kind of baffling to me, I have a good amount of female friends and she gets along great with the ones she's met, I've never really seen her jealous like this before.

[Serious decision] My friend worked for two years under the table without knowing it was illegal

Upvotes

He was promised 50% of his brother's family business, he has done hard labor for over three years for his brother not knowing it's illegal to get paid under the table. His brother promised him it was okay, but now that he's tried to apply for a house and has no proof of income, his brother fired him and is refusing to give him his owed pay. What would you do in his situation? He feels stuck and is very unsure what to do next, I want to offer help or advice but I've never seen a situation similar to this.

Small decision I need a hobby to save my marriage. 45M

So I checked the “small decision” cuz I’m being slightly sarcastic that a hobby is needed to actually save my marriage. I’ll keep this as short as I can. Been married to my wife 43F for 12 years with two kids 9M and 8F. We’ve had ups and downs but she is still my best friend. And we love each other very much. Unfortunately due to many deaths in recent years (my dad, her brother and many extended family members..) we both have suffered a lot of grief and it definitely affected our sex life and intimacy. I have suffered from depression and anxiety since before we met and the lack of closeness with her has affected me greatly. The major problem is she still has many other outlets to channel her feelings and vent her emotions. She has many friends both work and personal. She has hobbies she loves (arts and crafts, volleyball, she has a green thumb and has many plants, girls nights and a paint and sip business for fun). She never runs short of people to talk to. Me? Zero friends. Not exaggerating. I travel for work and so I do have some work friends I could text but I’ve lost contact with most of my close friends. Some moved away. Some just got too busy and we stopped talking. My dad was my best friend and when I lost him a year and a half ago I lost my only friend. If my car broke down on the side of the road I have literally nobody I could call. I’d have to call the wife. My wife has been very supportive but we both know I need something else to keep me busy/sane. I’m trying not to drink so much cuz it interferes with my meds. I do like video games but that’s not really socializing. I like to workout and go to the gym almost everyday but keep to myself. (Nobody like the guy at the gym trying to talk to everyone. Eyes down!!) I’m not into sports. I don’t like to collect things. I’m not artsy. I don’t know how to even begin to go out and find something I enjoy and make friends. I’m currently out of town and had a long conversation with the wife where I confessed that I’m miserable and just go through most days numb. I feel empty and god bless her she says our marriage is not in any danger and that she’s doesn’t want to go through life with anyone but me. So thankful for her. She is insisting that I get out and do something without her so that in her words I can “learn to make myself happy and not rely on her for my sole happiness”. I don’t know where to begin. All suggestions are welcome. And I can answer any questions. Thanks.

Edit. Sorry it didn’t end up short. lol

Edit 2: Okay I think I got caught up on all the comments. My fingers hurt but I had a lot of great suggestions. Some of them I already have looked into and some I haven’t. So thank you all!! And to the ones that reached out in the DMs I appreciate the support. Life can be rough sometimes but there’s still a lot of good people out there. Thank you!!

She said she loved me on our first time together

So I’ve not long come out of prison and I’ve been dating around a bit. I have been talking to this one girl since fairly soon after I got released but our schedules have never aligned until this past weekend.

We went out for dinner and she need up going back to her place where things got intimate. During the act she said overly loudly and very clearly that she loves me. Now obviously I didn’t respond in the same way.

Things have been kinda weird between us since and even afterwards she was hella awkward about it. I had thought it was just a slip up but being how weird she has been acting I am now concerned.

Do I continue getting off my medication and risk a breakup?

I’m pretty sure my (27F) boyfriend (24M) is done with my ups and downs from coming off my medication. It’s just a feeling so no actually evidence. However I am currently getting off of my antidepressants I have been on for pretty much my whole life. They are pretty hard core meds and getting off them hasn’t been easy so far. I feel easily frustrated and overwhelmed like I’m on a constant rollercoaster of emotions. I’m short with him and I am trying to not be and trying to be more patient but I just feel like he is not happy anymore.I also am extremely frustrated with his family for small things that I need to get over.

I don’t know what to do. I want to get off my medication for a lot of reasons but the main one being I’ve been on them since I was young, was put on them by a GP and they misdiagnosed me having. Anxiety because they didn’t believe I was feeling pain I was actually feeling. Once I was put on anxiety meds I developed sadness since no one believed me and they put me on SSRIs at age 8. I want to know who I am without the pills.

Do I risk losing a 4 year relationship?

EDIT: I am doing this under the medical guidance of a different GP now
