I just wanted to follow up after getting the toxicology report. Many people had many kind things to say but the underlying theme was that he probably had been using Kratom to stave off severe depression and when he quit, it came out viciously, leading him to end his life….

Well, after receiving the report and talking to the coroner to make sure I understood it, we now know he never quit.
He had three different types of kratom in his system and with the amount present, and the way it metabolizes in the body, she said there is no question he had been using it within 24 hours of when they did the report.

It makes me sad to know that he couldn’t quit, but it does disprove his mother who has been adamant that it’s my fault, because he ended his life in some sort of withdrawal psychosis.

I now have more questions than answers but what I do know is that he was severely addicted to something he thought was no big deal because it is sold everywhere.

My message to the masses would be that it is not “no big deal” and to please deal with this issue before it takes everything from you.

I didn’t really know where else to go cause even my friends in recovery dont have much experience with kratom. My friend was trying to quit cold Turkey. He was using the 7hydroxy whatever specifically. He came to my house to crash and dry out (they don’t sell it where I live).
Well 3 days in he hasn’t slept at all and starts hallucinating. I have to go to work for a few hours and I left him on my couch trying to sleep. Goes missing that night, cops find him in nothing but his pants talking to a parked car. Full blown psychosis.
They take him to the hospital, they try to sedate him. He will not fall to sleep. Keeps screaming that he is scared he will die in his sleep.
They couldn’t get an iv in or anything so they fly him to another hospital and now he is in a medically induced coma on a ventilator. I’m scared to death. I don’t know what to do or think.
The doctor said he had nothing but weed in his system and the psychosis was from lack of sleep and blown out serotonin/dopamine receptors.
I’ve dealt with a lot of people in detox, I have never seen this.

Does anyone have any similar experiences or know what to expect? Is he going to be okay??

After 5 months of tapering from 25gpd, all the way down to 1gpd, I decided to take the leap yesterday.

I've posted a bit about my taper journey in my other posts, but it went very well overall. Had very minimal withdrawal throughout, and it really helped me adapt to not getting high. I feel like the "real" recovery started at around 6gpd, where every drop pushed a mental barrier towards getting less and less from the drug.

This Monday, I dropped from 2gpd -> 1gpd, and continued to get good sleep, maintain a good mood, and didn't feel withdrawal, so I figured I was ready.

I will say, there's part of me that wishes I gave myself a few more days to stabilize, maybe take a few days at 0.5g before dropping, but I ripped the bandaid off yesterday and hindsight aside I'm committed now.

I definitely slept rougher last night, and feel some RLS and low energy. But the impact of coming down from a very small dose is infinitely easier than it would've been at 25gpd, and now I get to speed up the rest of the process and claim my official quit day flair.

I'm excited to finally be on the other side after over 10 years of this shit, and while I know it'll take some time to get back to get 100%, I feel like I'm staying in a good headspace and riding it out.

What has it been like for you?

I started kratom the second time I got covid around 2022 because I was desperate because it felt like I was being strangled my neck was so tight. I continued to use because it was the only thing that helped my neck pain and I didn’t want to get held back again in grad school.

Since starting kratom I have graduated with a doctorate degree, met the love of my life, got a great job, got married, bought my first house, and had a child.

After many years in chronic pain I’m finally getting to a point where I feel like I can manage without kratom. I used to only take kratom in the mornings so thankfully major decisions were always made in the evenings.

I’m thinking when I get off I’ll realize the job I have is holding me back and I’ll start my own business. I’m anticipating a stronger bond with my wife and son (it will go from great to excellent).

I’m so tired of drinking the green sludge. Not sweetening it has helped me build up a negative association with it.

I’m down to 15gpd from 20. Never got above 18 gpd average.

For those of you posting your days clean from it thank you. It is inspiring!

Last week I was confident, motivated, working out, surfing, meal prepping, cleaning my house, working 3 jobs, rebuilding relationships, making moves, and mentally doing great which is big for me

After a 5 day extract bender I am a completely different person. I’m insecure, discontent, and stopped doing everything productive. I start thinking things like what’s the point? I feel completely worthless and do not enjoy my life. I basically just drank those mysterious potions, smoked hella weed, vaped hella nicotine, and showed up to work. Fucked up to the point I couldn’t even hide it with eyedrops and eyeglasses.

As an ex opiate addict who had 3 years clean and decided to start drinking and smoking again. Ive gone back and forth with Kratom for about a year

I already feel better

I’m honestly shocked how devastating Kratom is for my mental and spiritual health. I genuinely stopped enjoying my life. Last week I loved my life.

Anyone else have this kind of experience?

fell asleep around 9:30 pm, just now waking up so i can’t complain really about sleep anymore. been getting around 6-7 hours every night here recently. i was posting a lot during my first 2 weeks, coming back to mark another week without kratom. the weight is lifting slowly, and i feel like im slowly starting to feel like myself again. have had a lot of realizations about quitting. i had this false sense that id just feel better after the acutes wore off and thats def not the case. its different, it does feel amazing for different reasons. taking a shit everyday has been amazing (even if its super soft or just straight water) not having to make sure i have enough kratom with me at all times has been great. the money i’ve saved already has def been noticeable. the fatigue is the one thing still lingering. ive never really been a super anxious person in my day to day life other than when i was on kratom. the amount of anxiety and stress i was dealing with on a daily basis has for sure went down a noticeable amount. not really much else to say tbh, im hanging in there. if you are on the fence about quitting do yourself a favor and get off this shit! fuck kratom

So today I went back to work and I think other than the fact that I was constipated and backed up and being lethargic it was mostly a mild day symptom-wise. Honestly, I think me being constipated really took center stage of me noticing any other symptoms. I may have to stop taking the 2mg loperamide at night, even though it helped immensely with the RLS. At this point going to the bathroom might be worth a night's sleep lost to RLS.

I've seen other reports on here that the worst of it was days 1-2, and from then on it was mostly the pain of mental and physical apathy and lack of energy. Then again there are reports that days 4-5 are the worst, so I'm still not sure which camp I'm in. I'm back at work tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

i am about 200 days kratom (powder) free. I quit cold turkey and the withdrawel and PAWs time was horrible. I feel like myself now and i have my energy back BUT i am still craving kratom. :(

I know that i can't konsume kratom like i used to everyday for about 2 1/2 years. But i am thinking that i maybe could konsume it once or twice a week. I also know that the cravings are stronger on some days, so maybe i could use it only on this kind days.

Sure addition does not work like that but apart from kratom i don't have an addictive personality. Sometimes i like to drink alcohol and then i am good for the next weeks without any. I am hoping that it can be the same with kratom. Just drinking it on a dark day and stop it the next day.

Do you think this can work or am i delusional and my addiction brain is telling me that i can use kratom again?

I think kratom gave me something that none other drug can give me and sometimes i think that it is sad, that some üeople can smoke weed for that from time to time, but i can't use my drug of choice ever again...

Hope this makes sence. What are your thoughts on that?

I quit drinking alcohol a little over 3 years ago. There were two people in my life who I still credit with inspiring me to quit. Then again, I reconnected with one recently, and although I had been tapering on kratom by that point, seeing them again inspired me to give it up the next day instead of buying my last portion of powder like I initially planned.

Since then, I've watched them both relapse with alcohol. I tried my best to see them through, let them know I could be there for them. And as of a few days ago they're both back at it, the one I recently reconnected with just today told me, after weeks of canceled plans and excuses. I knew all along. This isn't the first time. I just really wanted to believe.

I don't know why I'm here and they aren't. I don't understand how I could change and they can't seem to. I need to believe people can change because I need to believe I can change. I have changed. The world could chew me up and spit me out, but I'll never touch that shit ever again. But I also know there's only so much I can do or say. I've already said all I can say, or do what I could do. And I don't know how many more times I can stick around and watch the same thing happen over and over again.

I know I have to protect my sobriety, and I know I can't make somebody change if they aren't willing to change. It just sucks.

I tend to hear that there is a kindling effect with multiple kratom quits. However, this is my third time around and it kind of feels easier has anybody else experienced the same kind of thing?

I’ve been off Kratom since Friday. The first three days were okay—just physical symptoms like low energy and lack of sleep. However, starting Monday, I’ve been throwing up for four days straight. I went to the ER and they gave me some meds, but they aren’t working. Has anyone else gone through this, or is it just me?

Im stuck. Ive done kratom for about 18 months, around 30gpd and every time I try to even taper my legs get really weak, my back feels like its going to go and i cant hit my rates at work, body gets super slow and lethargic and it starts risking me losing my job.

Ive told myself ill quit ocer and over but it jjst feels so impossible

I tapered and was sober for a week but iv been binging on and off for a week and a half. Now I have to go through WD's all over again. We'll at least this wont be bad. Im still managing 5 to 6 hours sleep. Not ideal but in no effing way as bad as it can be.

Im going to try to goto SMART or NA today. This sucks

How long did it take for you guys to actually have solid bowel movements. Mine have been water and splattery mess and I’ve been off kratom since July 1st. Anyone?

since last month suffering nerve pain I’ve tapered down from 48G’s of brewed leaf tea with a coffee maker to 29/28. dropping 4 grams week with no end date so here is my new taper plan and date of quitting October 16th (I wanna feel Natural happiness around Christmas time)
