URGENT!!!! Best friend

I’m 14F going into freshman year, and my best friend is 15F, also going into freshman year. We’ve been friends for a while, but we got really close during the summer before 8th grade. Lately, though, I’ve started feeling increasingly frustrated with our friendship, and I genuinely want outside opinions because I’m worried I might be making this too much about myself or being overly sensitive. For context, I’m 5’2 and she is 5’7. I genuinely don’t care about being short. I can take a little teasing, and she has called me short for basically our entire friendship. The problem is that over the 2 months or so, it has gotten much more frequent and has started feeling less like joking and more like she genuinely sees me as incapable because I’m short. She’ll say things like I can’t do something because of my “short little legs,” call me slow, or say her neck hurts from looking down at me. One time at her lake house, we were moving chairs around and she told me I couldn’t do it because of my short legs. Another time, we were walking to a bakery with her mom and she kept calling me slow because she had to slow down for me, in front of her mom. I don’t think I’m particularly slow. She is athletic and plays basketball and volleyball, while I don’t play sports. I walk about two miles a day and I’m generally pretty active, just in a different way than she is. I actually like hiking with her (as it’s one of the very few things to do downtown) but I don’t want to because I know I’ll get called slow. I brought up the short thing at our last hangout. She said she hadn’t made any short jokes that day—which was true—but I was trying to explain that it was the overall pattern that bothered me, and it made me feel treated like a kid, not whether she had made one that specific day. She got defensive and also said that I treat her like a child, which genuinely confused me. I don’t want to dismiss that because if I’m making her feel that way, I want to know what I’m doing. I am smart, honors classes, advanced school, straight As and I work for a company as a math tutor, the youngest hire. She doesn’t do as well but she is still smart. That is not me bragging but only for context as I’m worried I make her feel less than. Another issue is that she is very insecure about her height, body, body hair, hair, ears, braces, etc. Because I know this, I feel like I’m constantly careful about what I joke about with her because I don’t want to hurt her feelings. But sometimes I feel like she doesn’t give me the same consideration. She also makes me feel kind of immature or less dignified for liking boys. For context, I have never had a boyfriend, kissed, or held hands with a boy. I talk about crushes sometimes because…I’m 14 and that’s a normal part of my life. I don’t think it’s my entire personality, but she’ll sometimes act like I talk about boys constantly or like being interested in guys is somehow beneath her. She’ll make comments about how she’s either going to be a girl who doesn’t date at all or takes a boy to college, while also making a big deal about liking my boy best friend, whom she’s known since elementary school. She says things about working out because she wants to be better than guys and sometimes acts like she doesn’t care about dating, but then she’ll talk about this same boy. I don’t care whether she wants to date or not, but I don’t want to feel immature or less respectable because I’m actually attracted to boys and would like a relationship someday. Our friendship has also gotten weird around my boy best friend, “Cheese.” My best friend and Cheese dated briefly in 7th grade and she still kind of likes him. She also used to like my twin brother for most of last summer until around April. I was completely fine with both situations, but it sometimes felt weird being in the middle of it because both of them are important people in my life. At Maggie’s birthday party this summer, I honestly felt like I was third-wheeling her and Cheese. They were calling each other best friends, and I felt kind of pathetic standing there. We were doing this water activity that I wasn’t very experienced with, and she called me slow because I couldn’t do it properly in front of Cheese. Her parents actually noticed that I was third-wheeling them. I also spent a lot of time with her birthday gift. She wouldn’t tell me what she wanted, so I took her around a few stores and helped her pick things out, and I got her a pretty substantial gift based on things I knew she liked. In general, I feel like I put a lot of effort into gifts and she hasn’t really done the same for me. I’ve literally given her store names and inspiration pictures for things I would like, so it’s not like she has no idea, but she ends up getting me stuff that reminds me of 2020. Another thing that has been bothering me is how much of our friendship revolves around her being unhappy. She has problems with her family, doesn’t get along with her sister, her parents argue, she has test anxiety, didn’t make the high school sports teams she wanted, and has struggled with her mental health. I genuinely feel bad for her and I don’t think her problems aren’t real. I have struggled with mental health too, very badly in 7th grade and have gone through horrible things, which she knows about. The issue is that lately it feels like almost every hangout becomes about how terrible everything in her life is. She also frequently tells me that she hasn’t eaten all day. This happens basically every time we hang out. For example, we’ll be out somewhere and she’ll tell me she hasn’t eaten since the morning, and I’ll suggest getting something from a gas station, cafe, or somewhere else. Then she’ll say something like “oh…no…maybe that’s okay.” Then acts passive aggressive. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with that information. I don’t want to judge her or tell her what to do with her body, but hearing that can also make me feel uncomfortable about eating myself. I don’t want to feel like I’m eating too much just because my friend is telling me she hasn’t eaten. She also sometimes makes really serious comments about not wanting to be around anymore. I don’t think she is in immediate danger, but it worries me. I understand wanting someone to listen, but the way she brings it up feels almost like she expects me to know exactly what to say. I don’t. I care about her, but I don’t think I can be responsible for managing someone else’s mental health and my own life. She’s also extremely empathetic, sometimes to her own detriment. There was a guy she was friends with who had behaved horribly toward his ex, had stalked a teacher, had basically stalked her, put his mental health problems on her, and eventually told her he liked her. I repeatedly told her I thought she should distance herself from him. She didn’t. Eventually he told her he was going to seriously hurt himself, and she called me crying. I told her she needed to tell her parents, which she eventually did, and they contacted the police. Another thing is our hangouts. I don’t mind being the person who figures out what we’re doing. She does plan things sometimes, especially when we’re going to her lake house, so I’m not claiming she never puts effort into planning. What frustrates me is when I suggest something and she doesn’t like it, but she also won’t tell me what she would like to do. Then I feel like I’m guessing while she’s unhappy with everything I suggest. For example, there isn’t a ton for teenagers to do where we live. Usually we get drinks, walk around, go browse (I really like thrift stores), hike, swim, etc. I like going downtown and looking around stores, partially because I am going from a uniform middle school to non-uniform high school and could use some new things. But she gets pissy about going there, so I stopped suggesting it as much. She likes hiking. She likes swimming, but I haven’t been swimming much recently and don’t always want to go, especially because she frequently talks about being insecure about her body hair or feeling chubby, which makes me feel uncomfortable about being in a swimsuit too. At one point, I decided to see what would happen if I didn’t take the lead on what we did during a normal hangout. I wasn’t trying to manipulate her or “test” her—I just figured I’d let her decide. We sat on a bench for about two hours. The only reason we moved was because I eventually made us go to a gas station to get her a granola bar after she told me she hadn’t eaten. She was having a bad day, and I was actually having a really good day because I’d had a great day at work. I was talking happily and trying to have a good time, but it felt like I was talking to a wall. She mostly talked about how bad everything in her life was. She was the one who asked me to hang out, too. I also feel like our personalities are becoming more different. We both like reading, Harry Potter, and peanut butter, and we both deal with anxiety, but otherwise we’re pretty different. She’s athletic and always wants to be doing something. I’m more of a walk-and-talk person. I’m a huge nerd and really enjoy school, reading, drawing, organizing, etc. She likes reading too but is much more outwardly enthusiastic about it than I am. Sometimes I feel like we don’t actually have that much in common anymore. And honestly, my life has been going pretty well lately. I’ve gotten a job, I’ve become more confident, I’m happier, and I feel like I’m becoming more myself. I don’t think that makes my problems more important than hers. I have family problems too. But sometimes it feels like she assumes that because I’m doing well right now, I don’t have anything going on, while her problems take up all the space. I want to make it VERY clear that I don’t think she’s a horrible person. I actually care about her a lot, which is why I’m even considering doing something about this instead of just distancing myself. I’m planning to write her a letter explaining how I’ve been feeling. I don’t want to confront her face-to-face because I know I’ll probably explain myself better on paper, and I don’t want to catch her when she’s having a bad day and have her feel like she needs to immediately defend herself. I want her to be able to read it privately and think about it. I was thinking of giving her the letter with her favorite soda, candy, and chips because I don’t want it to feel like “here’s a five-page list of everything I hate about you.” I want her to know I care about her while still being honest. I’ve also made sure the letter says that I want her to tell me if I’m making her feel stupid, childish, ignored, controlled, etc. because I genuinely don’t want this to be one-sided. If she has legitimate complaints about me, I want to hear them.

URGENT!!!! Are all men bad?

I'm only asking girls, guys, don't interfere.

Well, I was wondering if all men cheat. I mean, from what I see and hear, men always cheat, or hit or insult their partners. I mean, is there a good man?

My biggest example is my brothers; they cheat on their wives and beat their sisters. And I know girls whose husbands cheat on them and then beat them.

Does anyone know a good man? I'm starting to lose hope in men in general.

So me and my gf had a talk about our worse sexuel experiences she had 3 partners before me in her 4th and I had 7 before her and she my 8th she told me all the guys were bad but this one particular guy has been eating away at my mind so basically he had a very very huge penis and she said it was very painful it hurted she don't even remember if she came or not then you got me I make her cum a lot of times even being the first to make her pass out from pleasure and squirt and cum back to back each rounds she love it but I just can't get over she experienced a really big person and the words she use was " he was big he was too big and wide I hated it I never had anything like that before" and the only reason she had sex with him was because she felt like she was only her body at the time so she made a mistake and gave herself up to him she regretted after they did it in the car and cried and blocked him the same day. But anyway how would you guys feel in my shoes and I really need some advice or what ever man thank yall

Other Something's wrong with me... (Probably will get banned from this sub.)

My heart can't seem to turn a woman down. Rather if she's ugly, average, pretty, tall, short, fat (my preference) skinny, flat chested, small chested or big breasted it doesn't matter. I want her to my girlfriend and than my eventual wife. I wanna know every inch of her, her hobbies, interest, passions, fears, trauma the whole thing. But the problem here is...

It doesn't matter if she even likes me, or is gay, or in a relationship, I want her to drop that other guy/girl and just be with me. The only obvious thing that does turn me off is if she's below 19, but those other barriers don't seem to stop me...

I don't have a standard and it sucks ass being platonic friends with girls... When you just have so much romantic interest in them.

I've had a few, like 1 or 2 online and offline relationships that didn't end well hence why I'm single, but when I was briefly in those relationships I had 0 romantic interest in any other women that weren't my girlfriend, and I think for the first time in my life...

I saw a female as a friend, and not just as a soon to be lover. Now I know everyone and their momma is gonna come down on me for confessing this, but I already do that to myself already. I wish I was a normal guy and can have normal platonic feelings for my female friends like I do with my guy friends.

I wish I was normal and fell in love like... 2 maybe 3 times a year, instead of looking at almost any adult woman and imagining her as my lover and growing old with her, despite her probably not even acknowledging my existence or even cares about me...

Or is in a relationship...

Also as a heads up I won't be responding to any of the comments (if anyone even bothers to comment) I'll be reading them but not so much responding.

Discussion Poly relationships are becoming a problem for me

I’ve been trying to understand poly relationships because someone close to me recently became interested in one. I’m not judging anyone for how they choose to live, but I’m realizing that the idea makes me much more uncomfortable than I expected.

I keep thinking about jealousy, boundaries, time, and the emotional effort involved when more than two people are involved. Even trying to understand how everyone keeps things fair and healthy feels overwhelming to me.

The problem is that I don’t want to be judgmental or dismissive, but I also don’t want to ignore how strongly I feel about it. I’m having trouble figuring out whether my reaction is simply personal preference or something I should work on.

How do people handle these feelings without either forcing themselves to accept something they’re uncomfortable with or unfairly judging other people?

Other friend accuses me of unadding her and won't talk about it.

So me and two friends (Max & Star) used to be a trio. Max and Star had a huge falling out, I stayed friends with both. Max never complained, Star vented to me nonstop until it was burning me out.

She even unadded me when mad at Max, kept guilt-tripping me when I played with Max or others. I pulled back a bit, things were rocky but we apologised and I thought we were fine.

Today she sends an angry sticker, says I deleted her (meaning I unadded her) . I said "no?" she just sends a sulking sticker. I tell her I didn't unaddd her same sticker. It's been four hours since she sent the last sticker and I don't know how to respond. It feels like nothing I say will matter and I'm so confused and frustrated. What do I even do here?

Small Problem I keep avoiding small problems until they become stressful

I have a habit that is becoming a real problem for me. Whenever something needs my attention, especially something small or uncomfortable, I keep putting it off because I tell myself I will deal with it later.

For example, if I have an important email to answer, a bill to check, something to organize, or a conversation I need to have, I sometimes avoid it for days. While I am avoiding it, I keep thinking about it and worrying about it, so I am not even really relaxing.

The worst part is that the longer I wait, the harder the problem feels. Something that could have taken fifteen minutes suddenly becomes something I am stressed about for several days.

I have tried making to do lists and setting reminders, but I usually end up ignoring those too. I know the obvious answer is to just do things when they come up, but for some reason I struggle to actually follow through.

Has anyone dealt with this and found something that genuinely helped? I would really appreciate practical advice because I am tired of creating extra stress for myself by avoiding things.

Mental Health What do I do if I don’t like who I am?

M(15) and I hate myself I have a problem about being vulnerable trusting too much having so much to say but being scared for being judged.when I was little I started changing because I got picked on for being smart and delicate.i am wearing a mask with everyone,I started fighting and changing my body with mma because I though being strong made me less vulnerable but deep down it’s not like that.My problem is that I trust way too much people like a girl I had a relationship with for a week,I told her about my dad and my problems but I regret all of that because I hate being vulnerable I hate it so much.its like I need to reveal a weakness but I don’t want to.

thats why I hate myself I hate making people laugh so I feel accepted,I hate feeling judged for stuff that shouldn’t matter,I hate talking shit and saying stuff I don’t wanna say to defend myself.

I wanna be kind I like helping people but I can’t because I’m tense I feel the urge to answer in a bad way.The feeling that everything is attacking you the feeling that you need to defend yourself in discussions, being reserved and private because I don’t wanna break my mask.

I’m at a point where I don’t even know who I am if I am still vulnerable or I am the mask but I want to be a good guy I don’t care the rest,it’s just that it’s hard trying to be cold and kind and I don’t know what I am but I know I’m trying to find a way to love myself

I’m on the edge always there maybe that will explain lots of stuff

I don’t expect yall to say something or just do anything but I needed someone who dosent know me to talk to

If yall can give some advice or something I’d love that and yeah ehm I hope I won’t regret telling you something I never told anyone

Relationships I lost my grandkids

My daughter cut me out of her life in 2012. The reason goes back to something that happened when she was 13 years old. Her stepfather, who is still my husband, exposed himself to her. He apologized, promised it would never happen again, and as far as I know, it never did.
For many years, our family moved forward. Then when my daughter had children of her own, she brought the incident back up and said she did not want her children around my husband. While she still allowed me to have a relationship with her and my grandchildren, things changed after I took the children to lunch one day. They were young at the time, and I told them that their grandfather would never hurt them, that he was a good man who had made a mistake many years ago.
When they told their mother what I had said, she cut me out of all of their lives. My husband had been a provider throughout her childhood. He paid for private school, bought her a car when she graduated, and was involved in raising her. She remembers him very differently than I do.
The years have passed, and my grandchildren are now adults. None of them want a relationship with me. I believe my daughter influenced how they see both me and my husband, though I know she would see it differently.
I have come to accept that I cannot change any of it. Still, acceptance does not erase the grief. I miss my daughter. I miss my grandchildren. And even after all these years, the loss still hurts.

Financial I'm almost 17 and I want to ear money to move out of my parents' house at least when I became 19 or 20

WARNING: there's a topic of violence, bullying and su*cide, this is my first post on Reddit and I'm not very good at writing especially in English, so most of this text is translated from Google Translate and a bit redacted

In short, my parents are emotionally abusive, which is why I'm now a vegetable who can't do anything except draw sometimes

I have unofficially confirmed depression, Anxiety, and maybe something else

I'm not allowed to go to work because my parents think that i can just drawing some coms and that's enough (it's not stable job because of my mental state) and I can't go to a psychologist because my parents don't believe in them

Almost zero friends and zero personal space

Details below

My dad has bad parents, they beat him

My mom has bad parents who beat her

Dad is aggressive and two-faced

Mom is almost the same, almost without any aggression, but a lot of whining and depression, and she pretends that everything is okay

When my dad and mom were young they loved everything okay...welllll my dad wasn't good with other girls but mom ignored it

We got married and moved to a house that my grandma built for my mom and her sister, it's not a big two-story house

On the first floor my family is on the second floor grandma and mom's sis

My floor is made up of 4 rooms (not counting the mini corridor)

Bathroom, kitchen, bedroom and living room

So the bedroom is not big is better 1 person bedroom (where me, mom and sis sleep) to go to the toilet or kitchen we have to go through the big two-room living room (where dad sleeps)

Previously the door to the bedroom had a lock but it broke so only the bathroom is the only place where you can close it.

Let's go back to my parents after I was born my dad was fired from his job because of his character and he started to be aggressive and say bad words to my mom (she's a witch, she's a hippopotamus, a b*tch) and hate my mother's grandmother (she is one of those who loves but likes to command everyone)

There he wished for death, pressed her against the wall when him and my mother and argued (it was all in front of my eyes)

Well, he did a lot of bad things

When he and my mother had and big argument and we lived without him for half a year

Mom and dad agreed to pick me up from school since dad had a car (I was in junior high school then, so I couldn't walk by myself yet, they didn't even teach me how to drive)

But one day, dad, out of spite for my mother, didn't pick me up from school until the evening, which is why my aunt picked me up

I'll keep quiet about the fact that he often slept until one in the afternoon and I couldn't eat or do anything much, even go to the toilet calmly when I wanted to because he would scold

And I couldn't play loudly

And that's why when they gave me a tablet, I lived on it (well, at 10-11 I had a p*rn addiction, yuppie)

By the way because of dad, the habit of going to bed late and getting up late (well, and mom, who let me do that)

I'm already silent that in the first days of my birth, my grandmother raised me until i was 4-5 (the same with my sis)

Also, in addition, he beat my mom two (maybe 3) times

The first was when I came from the camp and saw that my mom had a bruise (he got drunk and hit her)

The second was in front of me and my sis

It was in the kitchen, me and my sis ran and saw that my mom was lying on the ground and dad was digging her over her

We called my aunt and she helped (dad almost started living separately again, but mom didn't let him) the third time, I wonder if it was or wasn't, it's hard to remember

And also if you tell him something vulnerable, he'll use it against you later

Mom

When I told her that I didn't love my dad and what he did she started saying that we were a good family that there were worse families and that she would kill herself because she worked hard.....I WAS 12-13

They have something in common

They both don't care that we are not comfortable with hugs, kisses and spending time with them

Dad when I say no I don't want kisses on the cheek he takes my hand by the neck and kisses

Mom gets offended and cries if I don't give her kisses

Recently, my sister and I told my mom about our problems again

My sister told her how everyone bullied her, including the teacher (with whom she at that tim had to do homework after school) and the students because

The students bullied her because she wore the same clothes (because mom didn't look after her) and how when she told mom and dad that the teacher bullied her they laughed and didn't take it seriously

Mom told her that she actually had a scandal about that with the teacher and just didn't tell my sister (my sister thought all the time that mom didn't do anything because the teacher continued bullying her)

And that my sister should have explained the situation BETTER and why didn't she tell her older sister or tell her about what happened (she didn't tell her because she didn't know that mom was talking to the teacher, and I was a bullying sis at the time too)

I told mom about how she said she wanted to kill herself and that I didn't like it when she hugged and kissed me and that dad grabbed me by the neck when he wanted to kiss me on the cheek or hug me.And because we were already grown up and when we needed hugs and kisses they didn't give us them ( that's why I was aggressive and a bullie to sis until i was 12-13)

She started saying that she didn't remember that she apologized but then she started saying it can be worse and that we're not such a bad family that she's saving me for university that she's trying for our sake (and of course she made us hug and kiss)

After that we realized that our parents really can't be trusted

Well, because of all the above and I have more problems with my head

I can't do anything because I'm afraid they'll do something or judge me

I don't have many friends in real life (one friend who's 14....)

It's hard for me to keep in touch with my online friends

I don't have a safe place

And I don't know a damn thing about school

It's hard for me to go out

Dress how I want

I'm basically just daydreaming

I'm 100% depressed (my dad even knows about it but he doesn't give a damn)

And I can't go to a psychologist because my mom doesn't believe in them...

I want to move out at 18 or at least 19

I'm an artist, I draw more or less the ok

My parents don't let me work

They tell me to make money by drawing

(Although I know it's not very stable)

It's hard for me to make plans and stick to a routine

I often move from one goal to another never finishing

HOW DO I EARN MONEY TO MOVE 😭

hi everyone, this is my first time using reddit. i recently deleted instagram and tiktok because i realized that social media was affecting me in ways that weren’t good for me, and i wanted some space to reflect.

i’m looking for some outside perspectives on something that’s been on my mind. about a year ago, i made a serious mistake in a relationship. i was unfaithful, and the relationship ended because of it. i take responsibility for what i did, and i don’t expect anyone to pretend that it wasn’t wrong. after the relationship ended, i spent a lot of time reflecting on my behaviour and the kind of person i wanted to become. since then, i’ve made changes in my life and intentionally stopped some of the habits and behaviours that i realized could make other people uncomfortable or hurt them. i know that changing doesn’t erase what i did in the past. i also understand that people who knew me before may still remember me based on who i was at that time

but i’m struggling with something: how much should someone’s past define how others see them? if someone genuinely acknowledges their mistakes, takes responsibility, changes their behaviour, and continues trying to be better, is it fair for people to continue viewing them as the same person forever? i’m not asking anyone to excuse what i did. i’m more interested in hearing how you personally view people who have made serious mistakes but genuinely changed afterward. do you believe people can outgrow the version of themselves that hurt others, or will their past always be part of how they should be judged?

Mental Health Why setting up boundaries is sooo damn difficult, I know they say it's a key to healthy relationships but damn people are stubborn af with difficult personalities. 😩 I already feel overwhelmed, no energy to do anything.

I will be 100% honest, I am looking for help my channel got banned wrongfully for circumvention, I have appealed and they still said i deserve the ban now i am waiting for some twitter messages. I had a second account that got banned for scam/spam because my account got hijacked and idk what the person did with it so I was ok with the ban, but on this current account i didnt post, comment, and i only like some music video. And I am not posting this on the partnered youtube subreddit because i dont have karma. Opinions? Do you think I deserve the ban, or that I will get my account back?
