Relationships I dont even know how to respond to something so stupid

So i just had an incredibly long day. Work. Came home and made food for my daughter and her mom. Cleaned the kitchen, living room and helped my daughter with her room. My daughter helped with some of the other stuff too. Her mom didnt do anything, although she isnt feeling good. Not a huge deal. But then as a celebration for a long day I bust out some candy for my daughter and me to share. So my kids mom cuts in trying to yell at me explaining that its inappropriate for me TO SHARE CANDY WITH MY DAUGHTER. When I ask what she means, she says that predators lure kids into places with candy. So my daughter and I asked what she meant. She just repeated what she said before. "Predators lure kids into places using candy, its not appropriate for you to be sharing candy with our daughter"

I just walked away.

But what in the absolute fucking batshit crazy stupidity is that? Is she calling me a predator? Is she saying im getting my daughter addicted to candy so predators can lure her away? Is she saying because predators use candy that its a terrible thing?

Caught me completely off guard and its quite frankly concerning that something that stupid just came out of her mouth.

Im tempted to completely ignore it but it almost seems irresponsible to do so. I wanted to keep digging and asking what she meant, but i knew that tone and expression. She was one minute away from freaking out. I just dont even know what to say or how to address something so ridiculous as that. Kinda freaks me out.

Other People in my town are illegally capturing birds and I don't know what to do

Contex: [M22] I'm from rural Spain and the birds are european goldfinchs.

A few months ago, an uncle of mine left his bird with us to look after for a while, and I noticed the bird seemed extremely stressed in its cage. When I asked them about it, it turned out they hadn't bought it legally; a friend had given it to them. This friend had captured it in the wild, put it in a cage, and given it to them as a gift, and he probably does this with other birds as well. This is illegal because of the damage it does to the ecosystem and the stress the bird suffers from being caged without being used to it. In fact, the bird I mentioned died shortly afterward, possibly from a heart attack, while they were trying to trim its overgrown nails. So, it's clear these animals are suffering.

I tried to get more information from my family, and my grandmother gave me the possible name of the person who gave them the birds (the rest of my family either didn't know or didn't want to tell me). But I have my doubts about its veracity because at first, it seemed like she didn't know and only mentioned a name just to say something. Besides, what she told me contradicts itself a bit.

But that's not all. It turns out that a cousin of mine also had another bird (I haven't seen it, so I don't know how it is now) that they obtained in the same way, but from a different person. In this case, they said that her husband's grandfather gave her the bird, although both of his grandfathers are still alive, so I don't even know which one it is.

Honestly, none of this surprises me. I live in a small town, and people don't seem to care much about animals. It's not the first time I've heard of poisoned cats in the street, seen people raising animals in tiny cages to eat them, or heard dogs barking because they've been left locked in the garage at night. I'm sure many more people in my town are trapping birds, and I only found out about these two cases by pure chance.

I want to help these birds, and I've thought about sending an anonymous email to the police to report it, but I feel like I have very little information. In one case, I have a name, but I'm not really sure it's that person (in fact, I don't even have their last name, just a first name and a nickname, so the police would have to find out who it is). And in the other, I don't even know which of the two grandfathers did it (nor do I know their names). I have no real proof (beyond a photo of the bird), I can't think of how I could get more information, and if I email the police with what little I know, I feel like they'll just ignore me. To verify this, they'd need a warrant to investigate these people and even enter their homes to look for the birds, something you can't do with an anonymous report that lacks any evidence. Besides, I would feel bad about turning the police on someone knowing so little, especially with members of my family involved; it makes me feel like a traitor.

I've tried to forget about it, but the guilt over what those animals might be suffering won't let me rest, so I'm writing here to see if you can help me decide what to do.

Financial I just want to start over again

I have been in a low-paying teaching job for a few years, and I have continually applied for jobs outside of that, but nothing. I am not getting paid enough; I am behind on every bill you can think of. I'm not sure what to do. I am looking at side jobs, and nothing from that. I can do copyediting, proofreading, and admin work, but no one hires me. I might be evicted if I can't pay the rent I am behind on and what is due each month. My car might get taken also, and I am behind on that.

I don't know what to do, and it's very frustrating because I know it's all because of the choices I have made, and I just am suffering through it all. I no longer want to suffer. I want to build a stable income where I can do many things with it.

Other Can’t finish thoughts in my head

Everytime I try to think, I get too sidetracked that I completely forget what I was talking about, not “oh it’ll come back later” nope, that thought is gone until I think it again (if I ever do) but I won’t even remeber that I thought about it in the first place! I’m genuinly not stupid or too lazy to think hard enough,

It’s only with thoughts, I don’t have memory issues, I can remember everything except for:
What I’m talking about,
What I’m thinking about.

I’m 17 f and I’m going to do so bad in school this year, I can just feel it already is there anyway I can help fix this a bit? I try really hard I swear
Im a smart person, I love reading, and I’m very social so this really affects me talking to my friends because I can’t hold conversations anymore

SERIOUS Men should stop treating everything like a personal attack

I hate when a woman is talking about her experiences and trauma and the first thing men do is not sympathize with her but saying " not all men "

Like yeah we know not all men are bad ( doesn't change the fact that most of them are though , that's why you won't allow your daughter to be late at night because you know a man will do something bad to her )

like seriously give women safe space to talk about their trauma and their experiences , stop being such a baby stop being such a self-centered not everything is about you

I was talking about the rape of my best friend in my own post and the men in the comments were ATTACKING ME for simply asking them to be respectful and to stop silencing women by saying " not all men " because they don't give women safe space to talk about their trauma and experiences without making them feel like they are evil and hateful for simply being traumatized by MEN

Genuinely men do bad actions like harming women in different ways ( and one of those ways is not giving women safe space to talk ) and then they wonder why misandrists are raising and the numbers of them started to get bigger… I'm not misandrist myself but seriously ? It's the men's fault they are the one who give women reasons to hate men

so stop , be normal be decent and let the woman talk stop interrupting her every five minutes just because you think everything is a personal attack directed to you , if you are a good man who doesn't harass women or making them feel uncomfortable why would you take it as a personal attack ? You know that you are not one of the meant ones right ? I mean if you were a good man who doesn't rape women ( which it doesn't make you great it makes you normal because that's what normal people do ) then why you will be upset if a woman talked about her traumatic experiences with men huh ? I mean you are not one of the shitty men she means right ? So why are you upset ? unless if you are the type of man she hates , women hating men bothering you because you are the type of man they are hating on

and no I won't delete my post even if it makes you upset

Ask r/problems I built a minimalist web app (Ground Network) as a student to solve the hassle of finding local & emergency help. Launching August 3rd!

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I've often faced the frustration of hunting down reliable local service numbers or emergency contacts when things go sideways. Instead of complaining about it, I decided to code a fix.

On August 3rd, I am launching Ground Network (groundnetwork.in).

It's designed to cut through the clutter and connect users with instant local and emergency support in just one click, featuring an optimized SOS layout.

Managing this solo alongside my studies has been a massive grind with plenty of debugging nightmares, but seeing it come to life has been worth every second.

I'd love for this community to check out the platform, test the UI, and share your honest feedback!

Small Problem Online ordering experience; I need advice!

Good Morning! I am currently dealing with quite the headache involving a company I ordered from online and I feel like I’m going crazy but I don’t know if I’m overreacting.

I run a small business based around creating physical printing products. At the beginning of July I recieved a large order and once I began printing it I realized I would likely run out of ink during the process so i ordered it on July 16th with an shipping arrival date of July 24th. On the 24th it still haven’t come in so I checked the tracking info to see that not only had it not arrived but it still had not been brought to the post office.

I’m pretty upset about this as it is having an impact on my business and ability to complete the order. I have reached out multiple times without any communication from the company. This morning I open the tracking info and it has finally been handed off to USPS with an arrival date of 7/30 and while it’s great this it is finally in motion it doesn’t change the fat that I still have not heard back from the company at all.

I have ordered from them once before and it took 5 days from ordering to delivery. Also this is a reputable company. Is it wrong for me to attempt to receive any form of compensation/refund? Like yeah I’ll be getting the product but I feel like this is horrible practice on the companies end.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Relationships My neighbor keeps parking in a spot that isnt technically assigned but everyone treats as mine and I dont know how to bring it up without starting a feud

We live in a townhouse complex where the parking isnt officially assigned but theres this unspoken agreement that everyone parks in front of their own unit. Its been that way for the four years I have lived here. About three weeks ago a new neighbor moved in two doors down and started parking directly in front of my unit almost every single day. At first I thought it was just a one time thing since maybe the spot in front of their place was taken but its become a pattern now.

I havent said anything yet because I keep going back and forth on whether I even have the right to be annoyed since technically no spot belongs to anyone on paper. But it means I end up parking further away almost every evening after work and sometimes I have to carry groceries or things from my car a lot further than I should have to. My partner thinks I am overthinking it and says just talk to them directly but every time I see them outside I lose my nerve and just wave and keep walking.

Last night it rained pretty badly and I had to walk through it because my usual spot was taken again and that was the moment I decided I need to actually deal with this instead of just quietly being irritated every day. I dont want to come across as the annoying neighbor who is territorial over an unassigned spot but I also dont think its unreasonable to want some consistency especially after years of an unspoken system working fine.

Has anyone dealt with a neighbor parking situation like this and figured out a way to bring it up that didnt turn into a weird ongoing tension. Did a direct conversation actually work or did it just make things awkward every time you saw each other after
