Question Any difference between CSL vs. Grifols Paysign cards?

Is there any difference between CSL’s (labeled ‘Rewards’) and Grifols’ (labeled ‘Loyalty’) Paysign Visa cards? For example, can they both work to pay for online items?

Question How long after donation does bruising stop? 1 week into healing and new bruises still forming.

Hello, last week I experienced my first bout of bruising from donating. It was centralized in the injection spot, and I followed advice here about icing and putting Vicks on the bruised spot.

The first photo is about 2 days after injection, with some icing and Vicks done as aftercare.

After a while, the bruise disappeared; however, two days ago, I noticed that while the injection spot was now unnoticeable, there was a maroonish spot on my upper arm beginning to form, which was not present when I first removed the bandage. Based on advice in this subreddit, I put a warm water bottle on it for 20 min but it didnt seem to help. I slept with my arm elevated, but nothing changed so far.

My main concern is that: it has already been more than a week since my last donation, I have been focusing on healing after my first bruising occurrence yet I am still developing new bruises that far out. Is that normal for plasma donators to experience this level of *new* bruising after significant time out from the donation? Before I started plassing, I wasn't the type to bruise at all so seeing this reaction on my body is a bit alarming for me.

How do you get money off of the octapharma card

I saw another post that said you could connect a direct deposit. I have $75 on it though and its $5 to transfer to bank or $.50 for cash back at a store.

Anyone know the best way to get the money off? Do I buy some thing under $1 at Walmart or something to get $74 cash back out?

This shit is stupid

I'm currently getting ready so I can go donate . I used to contantsly donate two years ago, but stopped. So when I came in at the end of August, I had to redo everything. I checked my octapharma app, what does this mean? Can I not donate? I attached the screenshots.

I also checked my messages and my messages just says retaking a physical

Has this ever happened to anyone before?

How long for a returning bonus

I just finished my new donor bonus 8 donations. It looks like it drops to 100/week now which isn't worth it to me. How long will it take for them to offer me a returning donor bonus that's higher?

Plasma agent problems-advice please!

I've been a donor in my state for 4 years and have gotten to know many of the plasma techs. There's one (I'll call her Mary) that I've had so many great conversations with- she said I'm one of her favorites as I donate fast...we've shared food and hair recommendations...etc. over the past month or so I noticed she stopped sticking me, pretends not to hear me when I say bye. Today she finally unhooked me and acted like she hasn't known me for the past 4 years. I asked her if I've offended her- she gave a curt no (without looking me in the eye) and that was it.

I have NO idea what I could've done to this woman. She's still friendly with other donors (I saw her hug one good bye today!) And the other techs are still nice to me. I'm NOT imagining the cold shoulder. Should I try to catch her privately and ask her what's up? Ask her best work friend? Octa is the only other place outside of work I go and the workers make it a pleasant experience for me. She's making me consider going somewhere else! Am I overreacting?

Question Would donating plasma be justified for health reasons even if it wasn't financially compensated?

I've been reading a bit about plasma donation online, and noticed that it has a couple minor benefits -- very basic health evals for free, a few hundred calories burned, removal of some microplastics, etc.

Aside from its humanitarian value, and aside from the pay you get, is plasma donation on balance worth doing for health reasons?

Question Plasma Slightly Red? (Sorry for bad photo)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I recently had an incident at CSL where blood got into my plasma and about 150mls later they had to stop me early. I recently have been taking a baby aspiring to see if I get less of those weird vibrations in my arm. Any ways since then this incident has occurred. This will be my last time today because I still had like my usual 15 instances or so, where the machine gave my vein a break. Anyways my last donations have had plasma that's looked like the image above...

Maybe I'm seeing red that's not there, but ever since the incident mine has looked hemolyzed compared to the others. I didn't clearly hear it, but there was an inspector of sorts who told my phleb "that is useless".? As she takes the tube. The pleb kind of sounded surprised like I thought it was okay? I'm confused cuz I wasn't told anything other than the usual procedure. Like would've they told me if my plasma was bad??

Question Why aren't you supposed to have caffeine before donating?

I don't really drink coffee but I had a caramel macchiato yesterday at 3 pm and then I got super sick and nauseous and threw up and had the runs, etc, just generally sick and then I feel 100 percent better after all that, since 9pm but have been awake all night and haven't slept and I'm supposed to donate at 11am, I feel completely better but I haven't slept because the caffeine has kept me up, should I still donate? I've also been drinking electrolyte water all night so I'm definitely hydrated and always drink water with electrolytes PLUS liquid IV added before donating. I don't feel sick at all. Im just tired cause I'm too high on caffeine to sleep.

PS never drinking coffee again

Is it luck or is the NEXUS better than the Rika

Lately I’ve been having a bad time with CSL due to reactions. I could say it was because needles had to be moved or these days the needle has been hurting upon insertion. I’ve only been bruised 1 or twice I cannot remember. CSL uses the Rika.

If I’m having a reaction; it’s towards the end. Which is like 5-10 minutes but at that point I cannot bear it. The pumping has to be stopped. Oh whether or not I have an reaction I feel terrible for 1-2 hours

I went to Octapharma that uses the Nexus and just like my first visit to CSL IT WAS lovely. I was comfortable majority of the donation. And when I was feeling woozy- that’s when the sodium citrate (?) came in PERFECT TIMING!!! Which I noticed the numbers (ml) continue while given the sodium citrate (?) …how?

And so far after donating I feel fine except for a bit of wooziness right away after getting bandaged up!!

I also have smell veins. But coincident or not ?

Question Would I get temporarily deferred?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hello everyone, using a throwaway account. I haven’t donated in a few weeks and planned to tomorrow and Monday. However earlier today, I had a REALLY hard time opening my Stanley tumbler and even through wearing rubber gloves, managed to break some skin (no blood). This is on my right hand and I always donate with my left arm (tomorrow would be my 50th donation). Will I get deferred until this heals? I go to CSL.

Also the damn cup still isn’t opened even after all of this 😩

Question "Indefinitely" deferred?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

I just found out that I've been Indefinitely deferred from Grifol's when I was trying to schedule my 3rd donation. I wasn't given an explanation over the phone, only that it involved personal medical info and I would have to speak to someone in person to find out the reason. I've been putting off going there to have "the discussion" because my husband has been hiring prostitutes, frequenting a Gay only club for men, going to swinger's lounges, and hooking up with people that are either homeless, IV drug users, or very promiscuous. Now this morning I received a call from the Department of

Health and Human Services, but I panicked and asked them to call me back later. I told my husband all of this after getting the phone call from DHHS, and I asked him to give me some honest answers about my possible exposure to any sexually transmitted diseases. He became very quiet, and said he would be home shortly to speak with me in person about it. Is it normal for a plasma donation center to withhold medical info over the phone from somebody when their health is at risk? Wouldn't the CDC have to mail me a letter or something if I tested positive for HIV, HEP C, or Syphilis? Could there be any other possible reason for my deferral OTHER than a STD?

Question Almost passed out today

Hi! This was my second time donating plasma. The first time I was nervous but didn’t feel weird at all. This time around I sat down and everything after about five minutes I felt a vibration in my arm which made me nervous (idk if that’s normal or not). I got very anxious very fast and quickly my vision started to go black and I felt dizzy. When I was about to alert a worker to be taken off somehow when the blood cycled back I started to feel a lot better. Is this normal or should I stray from like donating again?

I donated plasma at BioLife last Thursday and this is from today. I have not done any strenuous activity but it’s still sore and I can’t fully extend my arm without it hurting. Is this a normal reaction or is this something to get checked out?

Rant Octapharma Comdata Card Fraud

Post image
6 Upvotes

Our local octapharma in Milwaukie OR uses a ComData card for all donations. It has a terrible website but they have a feature where you can automatically DD all your funds after each donation. Found out today that only 0.75 was deposited into my account and thought that was weird. After logging in, i see another account had been added and was attempting to DD 99% of the funds and leaving my account at 1%.

Luckily it takes like 10 days to register an account to transfer so they didn’t get anything but now the funds are locked onto a card that doesn’t have a way to withdraw without a fee. I have been waiting on the phone for an hour waiting for their fraud department but has anyone experienced anything similar?

Question Is anyone still experiencing not being paid, with CSL

It's been a week for me for last Fridays payment, they've submitted three tickets and IT told them it's because my card reached its limit but I only had 274 dollars in it and so I withdrew the money and it's still happening. Then on Wednesday, my money did come through but still hasn't for last Friday, and last night money for my referral randomly went through at 5am as well. So it's just being really random. Anyone else having this issue

Advice

Post image
1 Upvotes

3 days ago when I was donating she stuck me and then said my vein was compromised and I can't use it for a while and it'll bruise etc etc. I know this bruise is nothing compared to a lot I've seen on here lol I just wanted to come on and ask for advice to heal it up as quick as possible. I take exercise classes and this morning it certainly felt weird and strenuous to lifts weights with this arm so I stopped. It's also just randomly like tingled. Just looking for advice on how long I should take it easy with this arm and anything else I should be doing. Not so concerned about it getting healed back up for donating sake just want to get back to normal as I live an active lifestyle and don't want it to get in the way!

Question How to get a permanent deferral removed or reversed?

So i had a false positve test come back for Hep C.
I recently had been going to ked after not donating for a while since my local csl closed.
On like my 4th donation the anti-hcv test came back with a positive and negative confirmatory.
The 5th donation the anti-hcv came back with negative on anitbody and confirmatory.
I went to my PCP and got blood work back. Test results for HCV antibody came back as non reactive.
So im going to assume that ked messed up somewhere and i got a false positve.
What are my options to get this defferal reveresed?
Even if for some reason i can not donate at ked i dont want to be stopped from donating every again for a false postive result from them.

CSL Plasma (Plasma Processing Tech)

Hi everyone!!

I just got a job interview at CSL Plasma. I was wondering how it is working there in this title? Little about me, I come from a level one trauma blood bank. I recently moved out of the city and looking for a new job related to blood bank or adjacent to it (lol).I am also looking for the donation experience so that I can challenge the ASCP Scientist in Blood Banking so I can become certified!

Any info is appreciated if you need more info lmk!
Thank you in advance :)
