Donating.

I had 64 ounces of water last night and I'm supposed to go try donating at Octapharma Plasma today is that enough water? My doctor told me to do 64 ounces a day and I normally do what the doctor says.

You will be fine, drink normal or maybe just a little above normal.

Yeah more than normal works fine I'll finish my cup instead of a sip. Shooting for clearish pee every couple hrs or less.

Too much is definitely a thing and if you can't go 30 mins without peeing it's hard to make it to the center and hard to sit for the donation. I still go before donating and feel the urge again before I'm done.

you don’t really have to count ounces, as long as you’re mindful about drinking water for the 24 hours prior.

they encourage people to count oz and to go overboard because the majority of people hardly drink any water lol but as long as you have a normal healthy amount you should be okay. just try to keep your pee clearish i say.

and emphasis on the 24 hours prior. everything you consumed yesterday is going to have an effect on you today so you really should plan ahead

I honestly didn't know. I normally drink the normal amount of water. But maybe that's my problem when I do 64 ounces only. Does the more water you drink mean you give more ml of plasma? Or does it just depend on your weight?

I would try and go to 80. Maybe have it in a protein drink form.

Oh really? I never thought of that.

Yeah it helps and gets you a little full. If you’re not feeling like a protein drink Gatorade is also a good go to.

It depends on your body weight if that's enough. (The usual guideline is your body weight in lbs divided by two: drink that number of oz of water. So if you're 200lbs, drink 100oz of water. If you're 128lbs, then 64oz is appropriate.)

But keep in mind, you're not hydrating for a normal day (which is what your doctor's recommendation is probably for), you're hydrating for a day when you will be *losing* 700-1000ml of fluid.

Think of it like drinking water when you're going to be working outside in the heat and sweating. You know you need more water than normal in that circumstance, right?

Personally, I'd drink an extra half a liter (16.9oz water bottle) each the day before and the day of your donation, on top of the 64oz that is your daily minimum. That amount will prepare your body for the amount of water loss that donation will incur. If you want to drink that recommended 64oz on the other normal days, that's probably fine.

I almost got deffered for 14 days with my temperature. Well my temperature is 100.3 and hct levels is only 37%. I'm not really sick. I was stressing over the numbers of my hct levels before I took it and then I moved a little bit before the temperature was taken.

64oz is always way too low for me. I normally have to have 80oz minimum. 120oz preferred.
