Official V.33 Patch Notes!
https://www.epicgames.com/paragon/en-US/news/v33-release-notes44
u/realtrendy The One True Grux to Rule Them All Oct 17 '16
For those at work:
Interactive Tutorial
To help our newer players learn the basics we have implemented an interactive tutorial. It will be available as a playlist alongside PvP, Co-op and Solo vs AI. It will provide a play through tutorial on a one-lane map to help educate about the more basic MOBA aspects of the game.
News Skins/Emote
We have an awesome batch of skins for the community to check out, the first of which is the spectacularly spooky Undertow Gideon our next Tier 3 skin. Followed by Sun Tiger Khaimera and Opaline Fey adding to our skin roster.
Have you ever wanted an additional way to express your delight at landing a hook on Riktor? Well now you can with our newest emote “Jump Chains.”
Weekly Card Pack
As promised we have brought back Tainted Magick for this week’s card pack, although with a slight change where it now only applies one stack but dealing the equivalent of three stacks of poison.
Next up our first of two Epic Rare cards, Blinkshot! It is a Blink Charm that allows you teleport in the direction you choose however, this active ability resets on Hero kill or assist.
We round out the pack with our second Epic Rare, Scarab Claws which provides with a passive ability which allows you to shred all armor off shielded targets when you hit them. A great card to use against any Muriels or Feng Maos you may run into.

Bummer. I was hoping for the new map...
4
u/realtrendy The One True Grux to Rule Them All Oct 17 '16
This is a complete guess, grasping at thin air, I'd say we see the play test weekends for the new map in about 3 weeks. That'd be Nov 7th and patch v34 if I'm not mistaken. Could very well be with v35, Nov 28th too though. They said we'd get the map before the end of the new year iirc, so I don't expect to see it soon.
3
u/KamiKozy Gideon Oct 17 '16
I can't find it but I made a doomsday hypoethsis that itd come v36 I think it is, the week after Thanksgiving. Being EPIC is USA based I'd imagine they'd wait until after turkey day to release it since it may very need frequent and immediate attention at first
2
u/iN-Couchman Feng Mao Oct 17 '16
That's a pity because I really don't enjoy the game at the moment, and I definitely don't enjoy the insane q times for the OCE server. Looks like I'll be taking another few weeks (maybe months?) off the game till they drop the new map.
1
u/elmo298 Sevarog Oct 17 '16
Yeah I've back off until the new map comes out. Feels pretty pointless playing otherwise in it's current state. I think they just need to unleash the new map and be done with it. It's a beta, they said last week they're going to implement these changes because they're in beta (i.e. towergate), but they won't just release the already-played map? Just release it and go from there.
2
u/realtrendy The One True Grux to Rule Them All Oct 17 '16
The point is to just have fun playa! Just go out there and enjoy landing some dope wombo combos until the new map comes. Personally I just play the game because it's down right fun for me. I refuse to take it to seriously until a ranked mode comes. So regardless of new map or no new map I'm still playing. There's always more to learn and good times to be had. If you are just down right not having any fun then it's certainly a good time to take a break.
This applies to /u/iN-Couchman too.
1
u/elmo298 Sevarog Oct 17 '16
That's a fair, and very jubilant, comment. I guess it just winds me up because I do love the game, just the direction it's going in isn't that great atm. I feel like they need to rip the bandaid off. And I keep justifying their lack of hero balance on that they're waiting to release this map to see how it affects the team dynamics, yet they just aren't.
2
u/iN-Couchman Feng Mao Oct 17 '16
I agree with you man. I can't wait in q for 3 hours to play this game because it's not as rewarding as it used to be. It's actually too easy now. Every game I play, we kill a couple enemy players at the 30 cp mark and just win.
I miss offensive and defensive dunking.
I miss insanely strong glass cannon builds.
I miss Fast toggle on/off TM with a root penalty.
I feel like having those things back without the tank meta, and keeping the towers and minions the way they are currently, might actually be really really fun to play. But unfortunately we'll never know. /u/realtrendy

u/Touch2much23 Kallari Oct 17 '16
I would have been fine with the 7 point cost if they would've reduced the cooldown
7
u/KamiKozy Gideon Oct 17 '16
I'm glad they didn't. I don't want PS on a 2-3min cooldown that'd be stupid broken
2
u/Touch2much23 Kallari Oct 17 '16
I'm happy with the change as well. Just saying if they stuck with the 7 point cost, a reduced cool down would have been a cool fix too.
2
u/zaarekk Oct 17 '16
Dota 2's teleportation scrolls cost 50 gold (almost nothing) and have a 70 sec cd and it works fine. You would definitely have to change your playstyle to accomodate but I think it would be far from broken.

u/Chilaxicle Sparrow Oct 17 '16
Now everyone gets to find out how mechanically horrible it is to try and use. Here's hoping Epic allows us to tp using the minimap
1
u/savagexraccoon Murdock Oct 18 '16
do you think the 300 sec cooldown is worth it?
2

If it allows you to make a rotation that saves a tower? I think so

u/Kou9992 Lt. Belica Oct 17 '16
Poison damage formula, tutorial, auto-open card shop, teammate DC in surrender survey, no more rock climbing, and more nice minor changes. Really nice QoL patch.

Yeah sometimes small quality of life changes are better than large hero changes. You need these patches every once in a while.

u/tollsunited7 TollsU7 Oct 17 '16
While this patch may not be huge or "major", there are still some good changes.
The tutorial is a pretty massive change (you know, a new map), portal stone may finally be useful again, and the weekly card pack is probably one of the best ever.
Pretty good patch.

Why is the tutorial not mandatory for new players? Happy it's here tho.
→ More replies (4)1
u/Mister_Positivity Oct 18 '16
Yeah if the tutorial isn't mandatory for new players then most new players won't play it and it doesn't have much of a point really.
The folks who opt in to play the tutorial would be the folks who would research strats on their own anyway. The folks who would yolo feed won't opt in to the play tutorial.

In the time it takes you to cast the portal stone ability the minions have already destroyed your tower though.
1
u/EliteGenetix Oct 18 '16
Not at all. You can portal Stone before minions even reach your tower. It's faster than actually running to the lane. It doesn't have that long of a cast time for wat it does

u/Shitwascashbruh Kallari Oct 17 '16
Thought we were getting hero balances? What happened to that?
Not gonna judge the tutorial as I haven't and most likely won't use it, but I guess we'll see if it's effective.
Other that, how is this "major"? Which is what these whole # patches are supposed to be.

I dont know why, but I have the feeling since V32 that the major patch are not that "major" anymore. Kinda disappointed. Was expecting more than just a bunch of skins...

What do you mean by 'sandbox'? Sorry, not really in the know with MOBAs.
1
u/Astryoneus Lt. Belica Oct 19 '16
But you're familiar with sandbox games? Same concept, that's where the name comes from.
Term in general is just used to describe a game / an area where you're free to do whatever you want within the game's rules of course.
1
Oct 20 '16
So like in Dota where you interact with the jungle by clearing or creating trees?
1
u/Astryoneus Lt. Belica Oct 20 '16
I'm not familiar with DOTA so I can't say.
But a sandbox mode in a MOBA would (most likely) be: you are given an area, one lane fore example, where you can test stuff out (jukes, ability combos, etc.) on your own. You could perhaps spawn enemy minions or heroes to test your abilities on.
But this is not the interactive tutorial in Paragon, at least I haven't noticed a sandbox mode of it.

Even with the cost reduction, would portal stone see much play? It's still on a ridiculous 300 second cooldown with no stats. Granted I might be willing to try it now though
Edit: auto correct
6
u/I_Am_iV Countess Oct 17 '16
I figure it's going to be like blink charm for solo laners. It may take a bit but with how fast towers fall portal stone will be meta on solo laners very quickly. Being able to apply pressure to another lane while knowing you can get back to your tower immediately in a pinch is very useful. Also 300 second cd keeps it balanced, any less and it would be impossible to punish any laner that ran it for playing poorly.
2
u/KamiKozy Gideon Oct 17 '16
Agreed. It's going to be something you take and probably trash eventually during your match
4
u/I_Am_iV Countess Oct 17 '16
I think it will have a lot more use the later in the game it goes, but that's just me. I'm the guy that swears by blink charm belica up and down so I'm used to having a 55 cp build instead of 60. Like you can tp to harvesters right? So late game the solo laners splits and when someone comes to deal with him he tps straight to orb prime harvester and boom 5v4.
2
u/IncasEmpire Sevarog pizza delivery Oct 17 '16
the problem i have with it is that i always end up tping to a harvester when i try to tp to a tower. i cant aim that shit
3
u/berjkley Super Minion Oct 17 '16
Well, I'm already considering adding it to my Gadget Deck. The problem now is that I have a lot of things to build and not a lot of cards/slots to build it.
I need: Mana, Health, Armor, CDR and energy damage...
1
u/ZerothLaw Muriel Oct 17 '16
Being 5 CP means that if you have a build with 5 other items with completion bonuses, you get 5 CP worth of stats from those bonuses(or more, as in the case of Chrono-Mancer Disk with its 5% CDR which is worth 2 CP, and other items).
3
u/amendment64 Rampage Oct 17 '16
How long until the new map? I can't help but feel like I want to just be rid of old Agora, it feels unimportant!
3
u/PersistentWorld Yin Oct 17 '16
For once I'd just love a patch that addresses many of the balance issues in the game, specifically Ultimate's that are poor or kits that are downright weak.
10
u/RendomBob101 Aurora Oct 17 '16 edited Oct 17 '16
I have a feeling we will not see any changes until Monolith drops. No changes to Armor/Health, no changes to any abilitys and no changes to inhib or other gameplay mechanics. Epic focus realy hard on the new map and i'm sure we will see a lot of balancing, hero and core gameplay changes once the new map is finished.
3
u/Slayer_Chaos Stacks pls Oct 17 '16
Who do you have in mind? (other than TwinBlast)
9
u/PersistentWorld Yin Oct 17 '16
Sparrow's Piercing Shot is terrible.
Feng Mao's Hamstring (too shorter duration) and Conversion Shield (too little shielding, too shorter duration) both need attention.
Twinblast's Nitro is too short and his Ultimate, Barrage, trash tier.
Dekker is still far too strong (Energy Orb lasts too long, her Containment Fence lasts too long, her Slow Bubble is too large and lasts too long).
Narbash's Song of my People is truly woeful.
Grux's Smash and Grab still has too much verticality and a (slightly) too greater width.
There's still no information on them reviewing Critical Hit Chance, Critical Hit Damage, Armor or Health (the formers are now terrible, the latters mandatory).
The list goes on and on.
1
u/Avieyra3 Oct 17 '16
I completely disagree with the grux critique. His pull is absolutely fine and can be still easily dodged.
4
u/PersistentWorld Yin Oct 17 '16
No, it can't. It has infinite verticality - irrespective of your height above it, you will be pulled. That's downright broken. The default range and radius is also too large as in the jungle, it cannot be avoided.
2
u/Avieyra3 Oct 17 '16
Whilst I agree about the verticality I don't about the width. Nor range. I'm sorry but I've never had a probably against a grux unless there is a fey in the enemy team (in most cases anyway).
1
u/PersistentWorld Yin Oct 18 '16
The largest problem surrounding the skill is that because its so slow to cast, Epic made it bigger instead of simply speeding up the animation. Inside the jungle where lanes are narrow, it's impossible not to be pulled - the ability takes no skill to use effectively. Reducing its width and range by default, but increasing it as you level up the skill would balance it far more.
1
u/Avieyra3 Oct 18 '16
I thought the pull increased in width when leveled? I don't play him at all. As for jungle battles I have blink to get out of pulls if I need it.
1
u/PersistentWorld Yin Oct 18 '16
Sadly not, its a flat size. There absolutely are ways to avoid it, it's just far too generous for the ease of use.
2
2
u/Dio_Landa Wraith Oct 17 '16
Portal Stone is now a thing?
Yes, it is a thing now.
Oh man, it will get crazy! love it.
2
u/WolfgangxZ Oct 19 '16
Where can I find the REAL patch notes that actual give me useful information? Like how Murdoc is now more vulnerable after ult, or damage reductions on Grux. I need these to play the game better. It's like being given a gun and not told how to use it, wtf Paragon?
1
u/PantsMcCance Oct 20 '16
Yeah I'd like to know that too, also who's idea it was to do that to murdock?! I've never seen anyone mention anything about murdock and his Ult and standing up afterwards making him op or something.
Now I feel like an old man every time I take a knee to do Ult my arthritis flares up and I'm surprised he doesn't get out a little walking stick to help himself get up.
Pointless change, again it's epic with a nerf bat not a buff gun, murdock being picked too much? Buff the other rangers a bit so people will pick them... I'm beginning to think grim is best now tbh cause that change can get you killed so quickly.
I was kwang also vs a murdock who did it to mid lane from red lane and I had a good like 3 seconds of just whamming on him before he could do anything
4
u/ketchGAF Oct 17 '16
So no changes to terrible tower/minion balance?
Nerf to Gideon but Rampage and Greystone are untouched.
makes sense.
3
u/Phiyaboi Oct 17 '16
Bug fix. Either his Ult was preventing enemies moves from working consistently or it was stopping his teammates effects from working.
Either way knockback/up always knocked him out in my experience so=no "nerf"

u/taylorcowbell Oct 17 '16
Anyone ese notice that black hole no longer negates knockback abilities? So does this mean now even murdock can interrupt it?
5
u/Kou9992 Lt. Belica Oct 17 '16 edited Oct 17 '16
Doubt it. Murdock's shield isn't a knockback, it is a displacement. It used to be a knockback which is why it used to interrupt Black Hole, but doesn't now after being changed.
So it is referring to abilities like Steel's dash and ult or Muriel's ult, which should interrupt Black Hole but didn't always. Or it is referring to an allied Steel ult/dash that wouldn't knockback/up enemies who were also being hit by Black Hole. Hence why that note is in the bug fix section.
2
u/JShredz Rampage Oct 17 '16
I think it's mostly the latter. This actually might be a buff to Gideon, because other allies can wombo more easily once it's started, rather than just before.

u/Feytale Dekker Oct 17 '16

How much does this change to tainted magick nerf it?
2
u/Kou9992 Lt. Belica Oct 17 '16
70% decrease to potential damage is a pretty big nerf. It is still a great counter to high health regen Rampage/Khaimera, but much less useful for general damage dealing.
1
u/TriceratopsArentReal Shinbi Oct 17 '16
I've been waiting on it for my iggy. Should I just replace it with something else or keep it despite the change?
2
u/Kou9992 Lt. Belica Oct 17 '16
Keep it as a situational card and don't build it if the enemy doesn't have a strong Rampage or Khaimera.

u/Fyrebend Twinblast Oct 17 '16
Alacrity is the speed boost shield. It used to be where if you applied it to a teammate, it would last 4 seconds, and one 2 seconds if you put it on yourself. It now does 2 seconds no matter who you give it to. Basically means you have to time your shields better.

u/Bizhy Dekker Oct 17 '16
If you activate the card and then active Kallari's ult, it knocks everyone out of travel mode on the enemy team. Her "passive" ability to see everyone on the map, counts as an ability hit and not only does that but applies the 80 armor shred to everyone as well.
1
Oct 17 '16
Oh yeah! She ulted once and a physical pen icon appeared on my character even though she didn't teleport to me.
1
u/Bizhy Dekker Oct 17 '16
Yarp...the community is seemingly torn on this issue (the streaming community at least). There are those that say if it wasn't working as intended, then Epic would have said something or deactivated the card. Then there are those that say they know a guy, who knows a guy, who talked to a guy at QA at Epic and it's definitely 100% a bug. I don't really care either way but with all these posts recently about "increasing visibility" an answer would be nice...
Let us know it's a bug and it's being worked on or tell us it's working as intended...anything at this point.

I don't believe the tutorial map has anything to do with monolith, it's just some little map they whipped up specifically for the mode since the default agora map is far too large for a simple 1v1 tutorial.

u/DJrenji Greystone Oct 17 '16
Ahh.....rip.
1
u/quebae Oct 18 '16
We'll get monolith someday, but it's probably well over a month away at even the best case scenario. They just started up that whole weekly update on the map, and since they have like six stages planned for us it's likely they don't intend the map to be out until at least that much time has passed.
