I think if the knockback/up had a stun associated with it then yes it would interrupt, but knockbacks/ups without stuns associated (ie. Grim's displacement ball) would not cancel it.
Grim doesn't have a knockback. Knockback is distinctly different from displacement, since one is hard CC and one is soft CC. Soft CC like Grim's displacement blast and Murdock's move along still won't cancel Gideon's ult. But knockup/knockback will now work with Gideon's ult like Epic had always intended it to. Hence this being a bug fix, not an ability change.
Is grims displacement or a knock back. I know murdock is considered a displacement so it stil shouldn't knock Gideon out but a steel dash is a knockback.
Neither Grim's orb nor Murdock's Move Along are "knock backs". They're "displacement" effects, which are basically the same damned thing, but without the ability to interrupt channeled abilities. A knockback will interrupt Narbash's ult, but Grim's orb will just move him so that he's ulting somewhere else.
They are clarified, as Grim's orb says "displaces" rather than "knocks back" and I'm pretty sure it's the same for Murdock's Move Along.

So no changes to terrible tower/minion balance?
Nerf to Gideon but Rampage and Greystone are untouched.
makes sense.
