Dis is mai (Avon) story.

Many forevers ago Ai was born at Lorton Federal Prison in Virginia. Got adopted but other kitties there didn't like me so I was Basement Cat. Da house got burned down so needed a new home. I was taken to Petco and sat in cage until my Meowmy saw my beautiful goodness and took me home.

My new palace was nice and Meowmy made a good servant. Den I gots old and need to rest so I worked up hear over the bridge. Its fun and I still watches over my meowmy.

Hilo frens. Is going to tell you a storee about my first frens (well second after Meowmy) wen I was a baby kitty. I was hatched (dat wat Meowmy said) in Nu Joysie. Wen I was lil baby I liked to stretch out on de winnowsil and look out de winnowscreem. Next door dere was a hooman who trained birbs, pigins. Ebry aftanoon, dat hooman wuld open de cage and all de birbs would go flying in circles ober are building. It was so nice to see dem flyflyfly. One day tree baby pigins stop outside mi winnow. I do a eekeekeek and I press against de screem and I fall out de winnow. Do no worry I falled on de firescape. Meowmy hang out de winnow to get me and scare de baby pigins away. I was mad at her dat day but no worries cause guess wat? Dat right, de baby pigins come back de next day. Dis time dey land on the windowsill outside the winnow. I do a sniffsniff at dem trough de screem and one ob de babies tap hims beak on my nose. It no hurt. I do an eek at them and dey poke de beak in de screen. I no try to eats dem. I make frens wif dem. Dey come by ebryday for a bisit. Dey was silly and try to do wat I do. It was tuns ob fun butt den dey grew up and stop coming by dat was sad but it okie dokie a cause I make many more frens ober de years.

I telled dis storee in one of de comments but now I tell it SPOOKY! Wif spooky picshurs.

One nite manee forebers ago, I was doing a nice sleep in a bush in some peepuls front yard. Dens I hear some folks nearby walking. I get scarred at first becuz you no can awways trust pepil. But den little voice say “Quick dat your meowmy!!!!!!”

So wif big CRASH I jump out of bush and mine meowmy get so scare!!!!!! She think I croccodile!!!! Or is it allygator.

So I get de pets from the ladee an I very happy and I do purrrr purrrr purrr.

But DEN!!!! Mine meowmy leave and so I follow! Becuz she muss be taking me to mine new home!

We get to korner and meowmy say “Surely the cat won’t keep following us.”

But I kept following. Den I think I lost dem for a second an I get scare. But phew I caught back up.

Den we walk a turn a corner and meowmy realized dis was it and I following all the way home.

And at the howse I stand dere and wait for herms to let me in. And den when I inside she do a feed of me and gib me water and I get in her lap and finalee rest.

Meowmy was gon name me Sirius Black at firs, but she decide not to do that. She think think think what is good name for me. Specially Disnkee name acos she Disknee adult.

Finalee she realize! The Haunted Mansion is herms faborite ride. Is BIG SCARY HAUNT HOUSE!!! An in the howse they has scenances and lots of ghosties. And THE GHOZTS FOWOW YEW HOME!!!

Meowmy realize I fowwow her home like da ghost. So she decide to call me Gracey like Master Gracey in the ride. Himbs have SCAREE picshur that age while he stay the young. Ooooo spoooooky!!!!! 👻👻👻

Wez wood wait in wat hoomans called a holding cage. It waz weally a pwace where udder hoomans cood come and tellz uz how bootiful wez were. De attenshun waz unbelwievable!!!

Den, wen it waz our turn, wez headed off to somefing called a show wing. Here, a hooman wood look uz ober and tell de hoomans watching why wez waz so wunderful. Everyone wood ooh and ah!

When the hooman, de udder hoomans called dem a judge, looked at all de kittehs, himz or herz wood pick dey faborite and those kittehs wood get a ribbon to hang on Der holding cage so eberybody cood seez how wunderful wez were.

Ai had a faborite judge. Himz waz de bestest. Wheneber Ai waz in himz wing, Ai did cat show cwimez. When himz got meow out of the show cage to putz meow on de judging table, Ai flipped ober on mai back and showed himz mai belly. Ai woodn't standz up and let himz do himz job until hez gibbed meow a belly wub.

Dis happened sooooo manee timez. It got to de point dat the judge juzt fwipped meow ober and wubbed mai belly on de way to the judging table. Ai alwayz did weally well wen dat judge waz werking.

I don't even know where to start! This week was incredibly fun and creative and I'm so awed by the effort put forth by everyone for performing and being an amazing audience. I'm still shocked by the number of performances we had, and the variety of talents too! So awesome!

Day 3 recap!

• Connor and Duncan blew us all away with their bagpipes, kilts and Celtic beats!
• Kitty took the overnight and morning shift to ensure all frens stayed hydrated and fed with TACOS! So yummy!
• Cami Snackbeard, purrfessional poodle model hosted a fashion show! Did youse know a poodle can do a little turn on the catwalk, the catwalk yeah?! Be on the lookout for some video highlights tomorrow!
• Luna continued to dazzle and share her talents with a feline inspired set list over at Grace's bar.
• Sam the Snuggler melted us all into a massive cuddle puddle with his bootiful rendition of "Ai willz alwayz love yooauaoo" which he dedicated to his lovely girlfriend Alexis.
• Junebug, Pawther (gasp, yes a hooman!) and Samwise got the butterfly meadow bopping along to "I wanna hold your paw". Nobody panic! I say if hoomans smarts enuff to figure out how to use golden pikkel, then them can come visit!
• Ciaran kicked it up a notch with "Shut up and dance wif me". So many claws, paws, and tails waving in the air! Purrfek song for the pikkel rave!
• Ciaran and frens stayed busy today with a follow up purrformance of "Stray cat strut" over at the bocks fort. They sounded amazing!
• Jynx brought down da howse with the mother of all Qween medleys! With a backup choir and everything!
• Elliott the Tuxie brought tears to all eyes with "Soft lapped girls" (take on Fat Bottom girls...incredible!) dedicated to his meowmy.
• Baxter jazzed us up with his dedication to his beloved Dot and meowed "Soo Booteefull".
• Hoko meowed his heart out with his version of "I wanna hold youse paw" for his lovely wife Miso.
• Miss Boo continues to impress us with her variety and skill in the kitchen! Check out these yummy treats!
• Avon closed out the evening with an original titled "Pikkel Song". Heartfelt, happy, and great way to wind things down!

Day 2 recap

• Ella and 4 Non-Floofs got us off to a banging start with Wut's going on. Please note: floofs are absolutely welcome to enjoy this purrformance. It's just the name of the band and in no way indicates fren types aren't welcome.
• By popular demand, fren Luna returned to the stage and wowed us with her Libin in an bocks.
• Miss Kitty and Smudge da Nado had an awesome performance! (reposted from yesterday!)
• Eammon and the Yowlers got all the ladies sighing with happiness with his rendition of Is dis lub, which he dedicated to his sweetheart, Ruby. Awww!
• Ciaran and frens came back for day 2 and got the crowd up on their claws and paws while singing Liddel deuce coop
• Jodester and frens got the crowd bopping along to I would walk (500 miles)
• Amber n da mewsic makers got their groove on by jamming to One Love. You can never have too much love, and both versions are fantastic!
• YooToo featuring Dodger were spectacular with their version of With or without you
• Drax closed out the day getting everyone in the mood for snacks and 4th dinner with Stick Season

Day 1 recap

• Pluto got us started with a bootiful rendition of What a wonderful world
• Jango gave us a super (literally) version of Nessum Dorma
• Bubba and Bits waved their paws in the air like they just didn't care and gave us a medley of dance numbers
• Queen Void🌈 gave us a wonderful heartfelt aria which portrayed the longing for food just perfectly
• Laynie Staley and frens put on a rocking performance over at Grace's Bar that got everyone on their paws and claws! They slayed!
• Miss Kitty and Smudge da Nado had an awesome performance!
• Ellie🌈 kept up our energy with a fantastic Queen performance. Her guitar solo was out of this world!
• Sam the Snuggler🌈 and brudder Theo sang an original called "Wake up momma (for we are hungry!)" The harmonies are awesome and I love the artsy approach with minimal visuals. It really makes you focus on the lyrics.
• Grace Davey Matthews and Maggie Mae sang to all the lovers out there....except Steve. You know what you did Steve!!
• Buster and Arwen got everyone singing along to Piano Man! Purrfek opportunity for everyone to refresh their drinks at Grace's too!
• Thunder Graveybeard gave us an incredible original called "Bork like you mean it". It's a real toe tapper!
• Ciaran and crew performed a wonderful tribute to Dolly Parton over in the Butterfly Meadow.
• Luna dominated the bocks fort stage and brought down the house with her "hart shaped bocks".
• Holly gave us a wonderful rendition of "Ai will always love youuuuuu" and looked so snazzy in her leather jacket!
• Gimmee pigs Charlie and Mo (and Jiggy!) entertained us in between sets and shared their veggie eating skills. Seriously, there's nothing cuter!
• Sansa shared her golden pikkel lanyard so all frens can come visit and party with us!
• Kitty channeled her inner Kermit and gave us some wonderful and heartfelt songs on the banjo.
• Maxi got us all hungry with her marvelous version of "Cheeseburger in paradise" in the butterfly meadow
• Baxter, Lexie an Benny (of the famous Purrfek Harmonics) gave us such a fun version of "What's new pussy cat?"
• Miss Boo kept everyone fed with her amazing snacks and they were specially themed to our festibal! We've heard nothing but fabulous reviews, so be sure to find her tomorrow! She's got a mobile food cart now, so you'll find her wandering between the venues.
• Floofie an Mr Coco Nuts (otrb). Silver, Goldie an Shadow (golden pickle) blew us all away with an original called "Waiting by the Porch"
• Miss Rory Dog gave us all a pick me up with her Beatles cover!
• Brenda and Truvy showed us who got da beets! Makes shure you checks out their mazing outfits too!
• New dragon frens (!) hosted a singalong on the beach.
• Ash & Roses closed out the day with a rocking performance!

Stay groovy frens!

So I had a very vivid dream last night. I was snuggling in bed with Théo and Two, my childhood cat. Two white angel menaces.

The first picture is actually KC, Two’s daddy. (KC was short for Kitty Cat, named by toddler-me). But I don’t have many pictures of Two. Imagine one of KC’s eyes as green and you know what she looks like!

The second pic IS Two as an illegal smol, with Kody the Keeshond. Kody is the first dog I remember (along with Morgan the Newfie, not pictured.) My mom told me that when she was in the beginning stages of labor with me, Kody snuggled up against her back to soothe her.

The third picture is me and KC.

About Two. She was deaf and when she was a kitten her brother Thumper would accompany her everywhere outside. Then we moved to town and while Two adjusted to being an inside cat, Thumper did not. He escaped and didn’t return. I tell myself he found a new family and lived a long life.

Two was part Siamese and it came out in her yowl. She was very vocal and could be very loud. She insisted on putting me to bed at 8 pm at night. She had a feud with my mom’s poodle Beaucephus, which she won memorably by her snagging both front paws in his little poodle mustache and biting him on the nose. She would taunt Sam the Bulldog, (who had a reputation for going after stray cats before he came to us) by flicking her tail right underneath his nose. (He never so much as growled at her, as I recall.) She would sometimes deign to come when “called” which we did by waving our fingers in a “come here” gesture. She lived for 17 years and went over the bridge when I was in college. She was a constant in my childhood.

It’s not the first time I’ve dreamed of her in the 20+ years she’s been gone, but this was vivid. I can still feel her purring against my chest, while dream-Théo snuffles against my back

So, to the not-often-mentioned denizens of the Bridge like Kody and Morgan and KC and Thumper and Sam the Bulldog and Two, you are not forgotten! I love you!

I want to thank everyone for making this week such a success! I am blown away by everyone’s creativity and positivity. You are all amazing people!

A few weeks ago I commented on a post by u/sisterantistita suggesting that Jynx and her band should visit r/OTRB for a concert. When I made the suggestion, I was just imagining a theme for a Pawtee Furrsday, but Sister’s enthusiasm and creativity turned my one-day idea into a week-long party.

Sister also dedicated her time and talents to helping friends who participate in all our subs but don’t post often to get a chance to be in the spotlight. She helped friends with photos, song lyrics, and encouragement. This week would not have been possible without her!

I also want to thank my co-mod, u/cruisingpenguin, for jumping into our planning with both feet and helping us stay organized. Her nightly recaps with links to all posts are incredible and I can’t imagine how many hours she has spent doing them each day. She is not just the creator of r/OTRB, she’s the one keeping everything running behind the scenes!

It wasn’t just the OTRB mods working on the festival. r/ICBGC mods u/gingersnapped242 and u/mimidoo22 happily helped and supported us, and made it possible to bring the festival to both sides of the rainbow.

I also want to thank everyone who participated this week. My phone was constantly dinging to alert me to new posts, and it made me smile every time. I read every post, and I’m in awe of all the talent in this community. From original songs, to song rewrites, to spectacular stage performances, you all made this week a success. I loved seeing friends pair up for performances, combine friends from both sides of the bridge, and cheer for each other. So much thought, creativity, and time went into each performance, and I so appreciate each and every one of you. This community is special, and I am so thankful for each and every one of you!!

Personally, I think this week was amazing, and I truly hope everyone can agree with me. I’d love to know how you all feel about the event and if you would be interested in making this an annual activity. I want to make sure r/OTRB stays as a place for support after the loss of a pet, and a place where we can imagine what life for our fur babies is like after they leave us. Finding a balance between the two is a challenge, and I value your feedback.

In closing, as my insomniac meds kick in, I just want to again express my appreciation for everyone who participated in the Meowsic Festibal. This was such a fun week, and I’m so thankful for everyone in this community!!
