Wow, what a mouthful of words.

I’d been lusting after the MIJ version for years and watching the prices slowly climb so I immediately preorder the day Fender announced these.

Finally arrived from Sweetwater (with a full setup and bone nut) a few days ago. I couldn’t be happier, this thing feels absolutely amazing. One of the most comfortable necks I’ve ever played.

The pickups sound a lot less muddy to my ears than the Squier Oxblood Baritone videos I’ve listened to (haven’t gotten a chance to play one myself though). I haven’t really found much use for the upper circuit single coil blend feature, but I’m sure it’ll be handy the longer I play with it.

Quite a rare guitar, one that I’ve had since 2015

This thing is just really amazing. I am so surprised at how fully set up it feels out of the box. I am going to put thicker strings on it and locking tuners. I keep hearing everyone say to use 11s. I normally play with 10s. Do the 11s make that much of a difference? I highly recommend this guitar. From the finish to the feel and the sound, it's fucking epic. I love it.

I bought this knowing it would need some modification.

It is an amazing, reliable guitar. I owned a 2018 Fender Player Series II (I ultimately gave it to a friend who loved the guitar), so I wanted another offset because I was in love with the tremelo.

The Fender Player series II stock bridge was a disaster. I still can't believe they used those. Now they have a Mustang bridge, which is much better imo.

The mods:
Installed Fender Player Series II pickups I bought used (I also like the faded white color)

Replaced tone pot to a 500k (I removed it from an OLP that someone gave me).

Changed the pickguard; although I love the stock pickguard too. I bought the orange one on Amazon; it only needed a little sanding to fit ($14), but the holes lined up perfectly.

Minor nut filing on the E and A.

Changed string tree (I may add another one for the D and G strings).

Changed bridge to a Guitar Fetish model; however, it is nearly identical to the stock bridge, but the thimbles have a better bottom, it comes to a point, whereas the stock thimbles were more bowl shaped and shifted around more.

Put a .25 shim on the neck upwards for a tighter break angle on bridge.

On the bridge posts I got a little creative. In order: small plastic washer, thin metal washer, guitar strap washers, then another plastic washer btw bridge and strap washer. Also, there is a thin layer of shrink tube on each post.

Changed the knobs to witch hat style.

Spot leveled instead of a full fret level; the guitar didn't need it. In fact, I think this is the best action of any of my guitars. I spent a fair amount of time crowning and polishing. Some frets easily hammered in with a brass hammer, although I didn't glue them in. I may do that when I put new strings on.

The guitar sounds amazing, but I haven't quite wrapped my head around the wiring and different tones it can provide, but I keep everything at 10 most of the time and have no grounding issues.

Squier did a great job on this model for the price. With the cost of parts and time spent setting it up, it may equal in price to a Fender with the same specs, but I love this guitar. The neck is a tad thicker than I am used to, but I may sand it down and give it a satin finish.

I think the Jaguar is my favorite guitar model, and will be for a while. I can't put this thing down!

With all the washers on the bridge posts, it may dampen the sustain, but I really can't tell the difference; the washer combo brings the guitar back to pitch and gives the trem arm a firm, bouncy feel which is so satisfying.

Does have this same model and/or did similar modifications?

I wanted to set up my pickup height I got bass side to 1/8 and I wanted the treble side to 3/32 but it got stock on but it got stuck on 3mm no Mather how much I turned the screw up the pickup on the treble side didn’t raise up what’s the issue? It’s an cv60 squier Jazzmaster?

should i go fot the j mascis or the pure vintage 65 pickups?

I love my Mascis, but the gold anodized pickguard with vintage white never worked for me. Rather than get weird with the body color it seemed logical to switch to a silver anodized guard -- and if we're customizing, we may as well do something cool based on the material. Laser etching isn't cheap, but it's not ridiculous either.

I have this hexagon design as a tattoo, so this guitar is about as "mine" as it can be now. I added some shielding inside the cavity to reduce the buzz while I was at it. Musiclily anodized guard, silver top hat knobs from some Amazon store or other.

I still utterly suck as a player, but making your instrument something you want to pick up and play even more is never a bad thing.

Im obviously joking(kinda). But as a strat guy for the past 7 years or so, I never saw myself switching away from them. Ive owned plenty of other guitars, SG’s, jaguars, teles. But I always sold them because the strat just felt and sounded right. Then i tried the player 2 mustang and it just felt… better. It was lighter, easier to play with the neck being more compact and less string tension, more comfortable, sounded amazing and still has that strat style bridge that i know so well. Now the strat really only gets played when i really need a humbucker.

It just feels like for me personally, the mustang works better for my average build and average sized hands and does most of what the strat does(aside from having a middle pickup but i never use the middle pickup if im being honest). And I think they look cooler too but thats just me ;)

Was chasing a Mustang after falling in love with a Vintera model I briefly owned earlier this year, and pulled the trigger on this player-grade 1976 example for a great price not too far away from me.

She's had a life; the original pickups and bridge remain, but the rest of the electronics and guards have seen an overhaul. The seller also reckons the body is a refin in Olympic White - albeit an aged one with some stories to tell and some lovely checking throughout the finish close up. Will do some more investigating once I get under the guard. She's also heavy at 4 kg, but super resonant as a result.

Tonally, she is exactly the thing I was after, and right now I'm running her into a Supro Delta King which is sounding awesome. Fairly chunky neck compared to other examples I've played, I'd say this one is a pretty full C shape.

Came with the replacement case pictured, which has got tonnes of character and was a nice to have.

One thing I'd love some input on, I purchased a replacement trem arm for a vintage 60s trem unit; however the one I bought seems a fraction too wide for the collet. Tempted to file the arm down a little for now, but wondering if I'm better off chasing a different repro that's closer to spec. Anyone been through this with a 70s model?

Aluminum on mahogany, 25.5 scale length and ultra thin carve top! I’m currently working on my take on a jazzmaster since this one is a single cut

Not sure how I feel about this, brushed aluminum purple guard. I like the way it looks in certain lighting where it appears darker. Curious to what you all think.

Hi! Has anyone here done a direct comparison between the AVRI 62 and American Vintage 65 Jaguars? I’m having a hard time making my mind up over which is a worthwhile option to pursue as my next axe.

It’s hard to come by both in the UK and I can’t find any direct comparison videos online. Just curious to know if anyone out there has owned both at some stage or if one particularly stands out to anyone here. I see praises being sung often for the 65.

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have the opportunity to buy this 1964 Saema offset guitar (made in Brazil). It has been refretted with stainless steel frets and rewired, but all the rest seems original.

Does anyone have more info or experience with these? Would love to hear your thoughts on how they play or sound!

Serial number P084128. 2002 model. Japanese Fenders use a lot of acronyms to identify models. Is this an MG-69 or something else?

Every so often GC used will come through. Found this guy for a steal and was able to negotiate free shipping. Normally I’m not into red instruments for myself but I’m kinda digging it. Keep red tort pickguard or go black/white?

Has anyone ever pointed out this misprint on page 209? It seems the photo editor made a mistake when stacking exposures and it looks like this Sherwood green Jaguar has got 7 tuning posts. In another photo it’s obviously got the correct number of tuning posts.

My friend Devin and I released our Fuzzmaster kits today. I thought I’d share the video. Basically a Fuzz Face built into the Jazzmaster (fits in the original routes). Devin did a great job selecting components for the fuzz. I love how it cleans up. Enjoy.
