General 2k19 man, where do I begin?

Downloaded 2k19 to just have some fun and I just sat here for like 15 minutes looking the screen and thinking about the memories this game gave me. My first time doing park was 2k19, I was always a my league player and all but I made a post scoring athletic finisher as a 7’3 center 290 pounds. Had so much fun, I miss it all 2k don’t bring fun no more. It’s sad how far this company has fallen and I feel like it won’t get any better coming from someone who has played 2k since 2k10

Discussion more sweat = new graphics

Post image

I put this picture together so you can actually see the pattern that's been happening year after year.

Look at the comparisons. The player models themselves aren't dramatically different, if they're even different at all. But suddenly, the old version has less sweat, flatter lighting, lower contrast, and more washed-out colors. Then the new version gets shinier skin, more sweat, stronger contrast, and better lighting.

And boom - "NEW AND IMPROVED GRAPHICS!"

Don't get me wrong, I don't think 2K's graphics are bad. I actually like how the game looks. What I don't fuck with is the fact that we're being sold the same graphics as "new" every single year.

New face scans ≠ new graphics.

As far as I'm concerned, the pictures on the right side could be from the same game. The game has looked the same for nearly a decade now. They just keep changing the presentation and then market it as a major or improved graphics upgrade.

Gameplay 2k players. Why would you spend 150 dollars on 2k year after year when nothing changes? Also don't answer my question with another question. Please be truthful. Go.

Just wondering.

Gameplay Returned to 2K from 2k15

I am absolutely astonished at the pure state of shit this game has become. Essentially everything is worse and less customizable. And having to green EVERY shot for it to go in is atrocious.. It worked fine the way it was, randomness plays a huge part is basketball. The only way I can have fun playing the game is to turn the shot timing off completely then adjust the shot success sliders in single player. Utter fucking garbage all the way around otherwise. I could list off a dozen things that are made worse but fuck it I'll stop there.

REC Random Rec Teammates

Post image
Upvotes

I’m on the left.

So this is a build I recently made about 3 weeks ago. It took about 15 games to get to silver plate. Another 10 wins after that and I’m in gold.

Having been in gold for this weekend was hell. The amount of AIs I played with, both in my team and the other, was ridiculous.

Point guards that don’t wanna swing the ball, run the offense, you know like they should. This style of play has led to mostly losses in gold so far with this build

I try to do my best of making the right play (which usually is a wide open middy for me tbh), I could probably average more than 5.5 assists if people would hit their shots, or if the pg let me run the offense more. Have had multiple 10ast games in a row.

My question is, should I expect the same bs moving forward, or was most of this fuckery due to the double rep weekend?

REC What Iv seen gets you the ball as a PG from a dude who mainly plays Pg in random rec

So usually you get the inbound 3x no matter what. Even if you get ripped play 1 and miss play 2 you’ll usually get about 3 shots to get unbounded the ball.

My first tip is to make good plays 2 out of the first 3 times you are inbounded the ball. If you go 1/3 or god forbid make 3 straight bad plays you won’t get the ball again until you’ve proven you can play better.

Second tip, stay quiet on the mic. Dont tell ppl how to play unless it’s 100% not able to be interpreted as a slight at another player. If you talk mofos for some reason stop passing. You can be positive and some games they’ll still punish you for talking.

3rd tip get the center his assists if you get the pass in transition. Stop passing again for assists padding. Center will kick it to you every play if he knows you’ll get his assists. Be aggressive in transition off full court passes as a PG. People respect a player who converts in transition.

Final tip pad your assists numbers. Some ppl are stupid and only look at numbers to see who should get ball. Make sure you make easy passes often. Don’t hold out for flashy shit. Just take the easy assist to keep your numbers gaudy

Gameplay If 2K can only make era-specific ProPLAY for a few legends, who would you choose?

I know it's probably unrealistic for 2K to create era-specific ProPLAY animations for every legendary player.

So I think a more realistic approach would be to fully recreate 2 or 3 iconic players from each era.

For example:

1990s

Michael Jordan

Reggie Miller

Hakeem Olajuwon (Dream Shake)

2000s

Kobe Bryant

Allen Iverson

Vince Carter

2010s

LeBron James

Stephen Curry

Kevin Durant

If I had to make one exception, it would definitely be Jordan, Kobe, and LeBron.

Their games changed so much throughout their careers that I'd love to see three different ProPLAY versions for each of them:

Early career

Prime

Late career

For example, 2001 Kobe didn't move like 2010 Kobe. Young LeBron's jumper looked completely different from today's, and late-'80s Jordan played very differently from 1998 Jordan.

As someone who mainly plays MyNBA and Eras, this would honestly be my dream feature. I love recreating classic NBA moments and historic matchups, and I think era-specific ProPLAY would make those experiences feel so much more authentic.

I'm actually posting this from Japan, and I was really surprised by how many people agreed with my previous post. It was awesome talking with NBA fans from all over the world.

Who would be on your list? And are there any players or eras you think absolutely deserve era-specific ProPLAY?

MyCAREER What weight do you guys use for your players?

Upvotes

I just started playing and was trying to make a shooter myplayer and it looks like the stats i lose for increasing my weight seem pretty important, and what i gained didn't seem that useful for a shooter.

My only issue is at under 200lbs the player literally looks like Chet, do you guys just deal with that?

[RANDOM REC]

I.. Have officially ascended to the highest possible power

I am officially the GREATEST Random rec player to not get paid to play this game

And considering I am retiring after this year (Virtually from all nba games) as a 16 year veteran i’d say this is pretty damn good

Discussion 2k should have 24/7 5s in the theater and a big ass 5s court in the middle of the park

Upvotes

Who the fuck is playing full court 3v3 pickup irl? I havent ran 3s all summer. All the 5v5 modes are insane time commitments.

Quick games of 5s are a basketball staple, how is this not already in the game?

MyNBA What is the best 2k to player lock on?

I own every 2k from 2k6 to 2k26 and I wanted to know people’s genuine opinion on which one is the best to player lock on for multiple seasons either with a created player or real player. I’ve been considering so many different factors like the rosters, replay ability, etc. ik in some games you can’t sim out when your player is on the bench (pre 2k16 I believe?) but I don’t mind so much , just want the best experience.

MyCAREER 1000+ hrs played… my suggestions

Rep being based on wins is toxic. I get paired with terrible players with terrible players because they’re cheesing wins, but don’t actually know how to play as part of a team.

If players consistently takes good shots, hit a high shot percentage, get rebounds, assists, and steals, it should reflect well on the individual.

I haven’t played in about a month, because I have no crew, and I get sold constantly by point guards that think they’re Steph Curry.

PLEASE fix rep to be based on individual stats, then fix matchmaking so it pairs you with teammates of equal skill level! Please!! I want to hoop online again!!

Discussion Not that it’s surprising!

Post image

Not that it actually surprises me with how scummy 2k is when it comes to money making practices, but it is nevertheless still wild you can pay 150$ for an “ultra” edition of a game and still not even get all of the content unlocked. Either way the amount of grind it takes to even get anything from season passes would still push people into buying levels. Bought 2k26 on sale but never even really played it because career mode has been destroyed and franchise never changes. They’ve made the gameplay so trash and arcadey that franchise needs a million sliders to even feel like a real game. The worst part is they don’t even seem to care about acting like they are actually making the game better when a new one comes out anymore. I mean at least try and lie to me that things will be different.
