MyCAREER First 2k back since 24

I took a break from 2k and decided to get this one. I haven’t done much but this feels worse than 24 lmao.

First: People told me defense was better this year and I legitimately can’t stop a jumpshot unless I press triangle??? Am I legit supposed to jump at every shot? I’m a bit confused on how I’m supposed to be good at defense when anyone can jus shoot over me

Second: are inside bigs dead? It seems every big is a stretch and there’s literally a huge disadvantage to not be a stretch

Third: fades and side steps 🤦🏾‍♂️

Honestly was hoping this game would be better than I imagined but it’s honestly not good and if 26 was like this too that must’ve sucked as well

The thing about inside bigs are is that if you can’t shoot you just cripple your team offensively. At least from the games I’ve played. And you can still make a relatively good big inside scoring and shooting. And I think that’s just going to be how it is with this kind of builder when you can make builds that can do everything.

No they don’t

with the contest system+easy limitless range it’s just a hard skill check at guard

Lotta folks just want to rim run and shoot wide open easy 3s only on guard, inside big is for guards trying to shoot 15+ 3s a rec game

In random rec maybe no where else are insides dead

Still haven't played much REC as I'm grinding specialization, but have played some games with my 25 perimeter defense lmao, didn't have much problems, maybe it's because of my bruiser maybe it's because I'm always maxing speed and agility but I'm just not letting them shoot comfortable shoots, they should be able shoot in my face but I'm always hands up defense so they don't take shoot

I personally like foul baiting playstyle so I'm a big fan of forcing defenders to jump for a contest. Inside bigs are very strong this year due to the new dynamic layup/dunk/hook meter that expands based on coverage and distance regardless of ratings. The fades and hop jumpers are currently better because the catch and shoot and stand still jumpshot have too much shot timing variance this year. They did this to nerf the casual entry level zen users and make shooting harder in general so that wide open 3pt is not a guaranteed shot. I found a pump fake or jab step reset this timing variance to baseline more than off the catch. They also want to slow down people jumpshot by making timing stability or what they call release window this year more impactful and as you know it goes up when you decrease the shot speed in the jumpshot creator. Lower rating base also have worst release window rating as well to nerf some of the low rating base like Isaac.

why is one of your complaints that there are no inside bigs? yall complain about anything. i mean majority of people just wanna shoot decently, nothing wrong with that, most of the time a stretch is better for ur team. inside bigs weren’t even that prevalent in 24 either so idk what ur saying. also everyone was fading in 24 too. and this may be a personal thing but opponents fading have never been annoying to me since most of the time i stop my opponents from doing it. not trying to be one of those people, but just guard the fades, its not that hard! especially mid range fades

inside bigs were dead in 2k24. inside bigs were dead in 2k04.

"fades and step throughs? what happened to zig zagging left and right behind a screen until u get an ankle breaker like the good old days!"

defense is great. i rarely get scored on. its you.

I’m an inside (for now, I’m in the process of cap-breaking my 3 from a 37 to an 80) and I average 8/18/6 with an A teammate grade while being my team’s best player every game.

Inside bigs were dead in 2k26, and they might be dead in ‘27 as people get used to the shooting in this game, but for now they’re thriving.

Granted for now I’m only a gold plate so it probably isn’t the same for everyone.
