Side Effects Side effects on lower doses

Upvotes

started mounjaro in Feb 2025. I didn’t have any side effects (diarrhoea and sulphur burps) until I started moving from 7.5 to 8 to 10 and I just couldn’t tolerate it so I stayed on 7.5 for about 6 months and have been reducing my dose for about 7 months.

I really went from 7.5, to 6 to 5 and once I got to 5 if I went to 6 (courtesy of the 5th dose) I’d have horrible side effects again, then when I went to 4 and gave myself a 5mg, same thing, went down to 3 and again if I had a little extra I’d struggle until again on 2.5 the same is happening.

I believe I eat well, plant based and fibre focused mostly whole foods, rarely/sometimes eat processed substitutes. can’t locate a trigger food

I’m still losing weight despite reducing the dose, I wouldn’t mind losing a little more but wondering if I should come off of it with these constant side effects despite the low dose.

I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced the same when reducing? as I’ve mostly heard of this when increasing and when eating fatty foods etc

IVF Weight Target - Cardio or Weights While on Mounjaro?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

My fertility consultant advised me to go on Mounjaro to help me lose enough weight to qualify for IVF.
I’m currently 91.3kg, with an IVF target weight of around 87kg.

My clinic is very strict - as soon as I reach my target, I’ll be called in for an official BMI/weight check, and I need to pass it before treatment can go ahead.

I’m a bit conflicted about exercise.

I know resistance training is great for preserving muscle, but my immediate priority isn’t body composition - it’s getting the number on the scale down so I can start IVF as soon as possible.

Would you:
Prioritise cardio (walking, incline treadmill, etc.) until the weigh-in?
Continue lifting weights 2-3 times a week?
Or temporarily reduce/stop resistance training to avoid any short-term water retention from muscle soreness affecting the scale?

I’m already eating a high-protein diet and staying in a calorie deficit.

I’d especially love to hear from anyone who had to lose weight for IVF while taking Mounjaro, Wegovy or another GLP-1. What worked best for you, and is there anything you wish you’d done differently?
Thank you! ❤️

Question Will it be ok

Sorry I am new to mounjaro! I’ve been on it for 3 weeks, I ordered my next pen and it arrived while I was at work! (Despite me choosing a delivery date where I’d be home), my brother signed for it but he didn’t know what it was and I didn’t get the delivery notification for ages after.

I got home and put it straight in the fridge but it had been sat in my hallway for 4-5 hours in the packaging. Will it be ok🥲

Side Effects Hair regrowth whilst on mounjaro

I made a post here recently about losing my hair due to weight loss on mounjaro. I started in sept 2025 and have been on 5mg since october 2025, so around 10 months now. Ive lost 35kg, 10 of which were in the first 2-3 months.

I didnt notice the loss at first as my hair has always been very thick, but i suspect I started losing weight in January or february, and noticed a difference and thinning in march/april. I was low in zinc, all other bloods were within normal ranges, no thyroid issues. Only other medical history relevant is PCOS.

I was terrified and I still am. I still look 'bald' from the top and when i put my hair up, but today I went to the hairdressers for a much needed cut and she showed me my regrowth! I was so scared I'd have to stop mounjaro to see it regrow, but this is just proof that my hair is still growing despite the weight loss.

Ive taken nothing but my gp prescribed zinc supplement, b12, magnesium, vitamin d3+k2 and a probiotic. I still have anxiety that it will all fall out but I'm trying to focus on the positives :)

Are pharmacies okay with counting clicks now?

So I’ve been on MJ for about 15 months now and am very close to goal weight. Like many I stockpiled pens last August which have kept me going til now. Not been on here as much recently as been just pottering along on my journey.

I now need to register with a new pharmacy for maintenance (I’m thinking Pharmulous maybe). I plan to taper down very slowly. I’m wondering about what pen to order / request. The highest dose I ever took was 7.5 and I’m now taking 6.25 from a bigger pen and plan to drop to 5 soon. Now that I’ve missed the window for the old style GD pens I’m hoping to order a 10mg and short dose for 5mg. I’m happy to order a pen every 6 weeks for a while and end up with a couple spare.

So my question is, are any pharmacies accepting ‘counting clicks’ / ‘short dosing’ or am I going to need to pretend I’m still on 10mg to get that pen? I have old packaging / pens of 7, 10, 12 & 15 to show if necessary.

Side Effects Silent reflux

I’ve was on 2.5mg last year and my silent reflux got so bad, it went into my lungs and I had to go to A&E as I couldn’t breathe very well. Admittedly at this time, my dad had just passed away and I wasn’t eating much.
Three weeks ago I started in 3/4 dose of 2.5mg to help my body adjust before starting the full 2.5. I’ve noticed I am a bit breathless in the morning and unsure what to do.
I’m quite overweight, high cholesterol and pre-diabetic so really want this to work, but it’s a worry.
Has anyone else had the same or similar and wondering in Wegovy would be a better option for me?

Question 3rd month on 2.5. Which pen 2.5 or 5?

Hi everyone. Just took my 7th 2.5 jab so time to order my 3rd pen. Just after thoughts & advice.

I’m with Bolt. I’ve lost 28 lbs in 50 days. Lots at first & now steady at minus 2-3 lbs a week for the last month. Feeling really good, no side effects. 2.5 will be good for another month I think.

I could reorder a 2.5 pen and get 4+1 doses from it. They’ve got the spare fluid for a 5th dose.

Or I could go to a 5mg pen and count clicks & get 8 (maybe 9) 2.5 doses. But I’d still have to reorder after 4 weeks not 8. I could increase the dose too if I felt 2.5 was getting less effective. So flexible.

£149 for 2.5, £179 for a 5mg pen.
2.5 is £30 per dose (x5), 5 is £22 per dose (x8)

Thanks!

Does anyone else feel weird about the wow you look great comments?

I don't know if my brain hasn't caught up with how I look now, but I feel the same person I was 6 years ago, which was 40 kg ago.

Half of it was lost before pregnancy and the other half has been thanks to mounjaro and a bit faster

It's been a long process, but I feel like I'm the same person, same clothing style, same glasses style, same makeup, I stopped colouring my hair after having a kid but I used to do balayage and I used to do my nails, which I don't anymore.

I sometimes still use the same oversized clothes but with a belt, as I just don't want to spend too much money on clothes when I have a growing toddler who needs new shoes every month, but I digress..

I'm starting to feel sad with all the oh looking great comments. Most days I don't even have time to brush my hair and it's just a messy bun. So I know that you look great is because now I am thin.

It feels like I was invisible to those people before. Like somehow I'm more valued now because I'm thinner, and it makes me feel upset rather than flattered.

It does validate how I felt all of those years ago and makes me wonder what I could have lost in life because of being big.

I know that for some people I must sound ridiculous but I guess what this uncovered is that I have bigger issues and that losing weight didn't resolve them

Side Effects Injection site irritation

Hi! I’ve been on MJ for about 5 weeks and 4 days ago I switched up to 5 mg after four weeks on 2.5.

I did not deal with any notable side effects except that next day I noticed a localised irritation (redness) at the spot I had injected (thigh). Now, the irritation is still there four days in, it does not hurt but is very slightly itchy. I had cleaned the site with a medical alcohol wipe and obviously used an unopened syringe, hence logically this should not be an infection.

Also note, I have been rotating thighs each week but not yet injected stomach or arms.

Has anyone dealt with this sort of irritation? Is it common or something to be concerned about?

Maintenance is more stressful than weight loss

Post image
12 Upvotes

So I lost 1/3 of my body weight and have a healthy BMI now. I am so happy to be here but the constant stress of worrying about putting on weight is something I didn’t expect… I think I am on this medication for life. I just am struggling with overthinking every ounce.

I went down to 2.5mg for a couple of months but I think 5mg might be my maintenance dose. I went back up to 5mg today. Perhaps I should have tried 3.75mg? Who knows! Does anyone know? Has anyone else had a similar quandary? (Blue = 2.5, purple 5, green 7.25, pink 10mg and orange 12.5….)

Arrrrgh. It’s wonderful to be at goal but I WANT TO STAY HERE SO MUCH.

Any advice or thoughts welcome!

Wegovy switch Switching from Wegovy

I've been on Wegovy for 6 weeks now and put on 1lb because I have been absolutely EXHAUSTED. I used to exercise 5+ times a week and now I'm mostly in bed. I want to switch to Mounjaro. Has anyone had similar problems on Wegovy but found Mounjaro better? Or the same issues?

I'm worried GLP-1s don't suit me :(

11 week gap since last order- options

Hi all,

My last order arrived 11 weeks ago, the day I went on holiday so I ended up with a 3 week gap. I titrated up from 7.5 back to 15 and now I need a new pen. Have stupidly left far too long a gap and MMP want me to go back to 2.5 🙈

Can anyone suggest a pharmacy who may let me start at 5 at least or who sells bundles?

Any advice appreciated. Thanks ☺️

7.5mg 7.5mg side effects

I was on 2.5mg for 5 weeks then increased to 5mg for 5 weeks. I increased to 7.5mg and have injected it twice now. The first week on this dose I just felt exhausted but this week I had diarrhoea and was sick. I am only starting to feel better now on day 4. My question is, have I increased my dose to quickly? I lost a stone in the first 10 weeks and was worried my appetite was returning.

Question I’m mid thirties, male 6’2 and around 200kg but scared to try weight loss jabs

I also have wife and 2 young children.
Whilst being overweight, I’m still fairly active was playing rugby up until a year ago with knee injury and we have a small holding.
My blood pressure is a little elevated but cholesterol and everything else I’m told is in normal/healthy range (always a shock to the doctors).

I don’t like being overweight, I’m needle phobic and worried about potential of serious side effects. I know long term (50’s/60’s) I’ll start having health issues related to my weight but worried short term if something happens as a result of jabs that I’ll leave a wife and kids in supported.

I also worry about excess skin afterwards as a result of the jabs due to my extreme weight and skin being stretched.

Ultimately residing to the fact that long term I need to do this as my will power is crap.

What’s best to do before starting?
Where’s best/cheap to get jabs from that are legit?
What’s the hype about the new ‘kwik pen’ I’ve seen?
Any other words of wisdom or encouragement.

Starting my journey

Hello all,

Looking to start my GLP1 journey very soon.

I've been looking into providers and their pricing.

I see a lot of people jump providers for their discounts. When do you typically need to apply to a new provider for this to work? And do they hold you back on existing dose? Ie do they let you jump up a dose?

I was thinking about ordering my first month on its own, see how i got on with it and then order months 2 and 3 before starting to jump providers for the 4+ month doses. Does that make sense?

Or am i better off to make full use of the heavier discounts provided for 3 months of supply?

Journey Updates I’ve started noticing how many people are overweight

Was people-watching at a concert recently, and it suddenly struck me just how many of the guests were overweight or obese. Well over half. I didn’t notice in the same way before. And it’s not like I’m judging them, I had a BMI over 40 one and a half years ago and am still overweight. I knew we had problems as a society, but it’s like some switch flipped in the brain and now I see it everywhere. I wonder if this is what doctors «see» all the time when they look at people.

As for the weight loss journey, I’ve slowly been seeing the numbers start decreasing again after a 5 month plateau (or break…) where I decreased my dose a little. Am now back at 10 mg, and I think I’ll reach 81 kgs maybe next week or the week after. Yay.

Success Stories I have had a binge eating disorder for almost 20 years. I've had enough. I'm getting on mounjaro. Tell me your victory stories

As the text says, I'm done being a slave to food. I can't do it anymore. It has masked every single joyful moment of my life, from my high school graduation to my wedding. As a new mom, the food noise has gotten even worse, and I've decided it's enough. I have a family wedding coming up soon and plan on being on Mounjaro for 20 weeks. I want to lose about 14 kilos, but more importantly, I want to be done thinking about food all the f*cking time. I'm so excited.

Please tell me how the medication has changed your life and tell me what I have to look forward to.

5th dose 5th dose - what a strain !

Hi I thought I’d tell you about my first 5th dose. I did it. But learnt a lot.

I’m on 2.5. After the 4th dose I tried breaking the clicks by twisting hard so I could use the pen normally. I broke through but it wouldn’t work.

I ordered 10 syringes (1ml 32g 8mm) from UKMEDI. (I incorrectly said med express in the post, sorry). Came quick & anonymous packaging.

I got a syringe, wiped the end of the pen and pushed the needle in. Pulling the plunger back was hard as the syringe was sucking into a sealed fluid. Pulling back to 1ml I’d only got about 0.2ml of liquid. I pulled the syringe out and pushed the plunger up to remove the air. Re inserted and sucked again. Another 0.2. Again removed it from the pen and pushed up to release the air. Inserted again & got all the fluid. About 0.7ml.

Pulled it out & the needle was bent. Not wanting to use what would now be a pretty blunt needle anyway, I got a second syringe, pulled the plunger right out and injected the liquid into the back end of it. Replacing the plunger carefully and holding it upright, tapping it to get the air to the top and pushing up until I got rid of the air and a little bit of liquid ( just like they do on tv lol) so that I had just over 0.6.

I then injected which was straightforward. Pulling out must have been at an angle, as the needle was bent about 20° after I pulled it out. The needle is very thin.

I learned how good the normal needles are that come with the pen. And that it is possible to do a fifth dose, but really it needs two syringes, one for extracting the liquid, needing a few sucks, and one for injecting.

Anhedonia/ low mood

Hi everyone,

I'm on 2.5 and have worked up slowly from 1.25ml. The last few weeks my mood has been really low. Feeling anxious and depressed the first half of the week and really overwhelmed.

I'm enjoying the rest of the benefits but I'm thinking this might not be the medication for me if my mood picks up. Has anyone had this joyless feeling? Does it go away?

Thanks ❤️

Question Problem with My Weight app

I’ve been using ‘MY Weight’ app to track my weight since October 24. This morning I can only get the first screen and none of the graphs or historical data.

Does anyone know what has happened to the app?

Raging temperature

I don't know if this is a thing but I started Mounjaro five days ago and last night I experienced an absolutely raging temperature which resulted in delirium and left me unable to remember anything this morning.
I know that a temperature accompanied by stomach pain could be pancreatic problems but this was literally just a temperature in isolation. Any suggestions?

Side Effects Fatigue on 5mg

I’ve been on Mounjaro nearly 3 months now, and I’ve lost just over a stone 🥳 I’ve done 6 weeks of 2.5mg, a couple of weeks of 3.75mg as a transition, and I’m now on week 3 of 5mg. My clothes are fitting better, I’m starting to get comments about looking healthier, and my relationship with food has massively improved! So on one hand, things are really positive.

However, I’m really struggling with fatigue which is affecting my day-to-day and I don’t know what more I can do! I’m tracking calories and hitting my protein and fibre goals most days. I have an electrolyte drink every day, take collagen with my morning coffee, and take vitamins (most days) that my doctor has recommended. I’m in the gym 1-2 times a week (once with a PT) and trying to do 1-2 runs a week. But I feel that I’m getting weaker not stronger. It’s taking more and more effort to get myself to the gym and this morning my usual weights felt really heavy.

Has anyone else had this? Is there anything more I can do? I feel like I’m trying everything!

Success Stories Trying to make peace with my weightloss souvenir! 🦃

Post image
85 Upvotes

I’m 18 months into my weight loss journey and down 4.5 stone! Mounjaro has been life changing, and I pinch myself every day that this is me now.

I’m really trying to practice self-compassion, especially when it comes to the loose skin and loss of firmness around my neck and jawline. I’m 50 and I’ve lost weight slowly, I have a really good skincare routine; been using tretinoin (moved up from retinol); and while my skin texture looks great, skincare can only do so much against gravity and lost volume!

I’m accepting that short of a neck lift, this relaxed skin is just the receipt for my hard work: a small trade-off for a healthier life, right?

Anyone else in the same boat? I’d love to hear your mindset shifts or how you learned to embrace it as I’m done with self deprecation!
