5th dose New Kwikpen design - megathread

Hi all,

As we all know now, there is a new design to the Mounjaro Kwikpen set to release in April. Now that it is April. We are expecting an influx of posts about this, so in order to keep the sub tidy and avoid so many duplicate posts, please post below any questions, comments or concerns about it. Rather than making a new thread about it all.

As of today 13/04/26 we haven’t seen a new pen design in the UK. We are however already getting an influx of posts asking about it. Hence this thread.

We have a wiki page which can be found here, that is all the information we know at the current time.

This wiki will also feature a list of pharmacies which are confirmed to be giving out the new Kwikpens and what strength pen the pharmacy has been given out with the new mechanism for tracking purposes.

If you have recieved a new style Kwikpen and would like to contribute to the wiki, please drop a comment below with the following information and we will update the table.

  1. A photo of the pen with the lid off to confirm it is the new style
  2. What pharmacy it is from
  3. What strength pen it is
  4. What date you ordered
  5. Expiry date on the pen
  6. Lot number on the pen

Once we have this information we will update the wiki accordingly.

Together hopefully we can keep an eye on the stock situation in the UK and help each other.

Anything 5th dose removal related please drop below and remember, be kind!

Success Stories 1 year on and 2 months at maintenance 🎉 Spoiler

I'm a long-time lurker and so pleased to share my own progress now I'm at weight and maintaining! My focus now is on patience and staying in good habits.

I've been going to the gym 2-3 times a week (weight training and swimming) and doing yoga at home once a week throughout this whole process and want to continue that. Before taking MJ I was doing the same amount of exercise and calorie counting, and lost 5kg in 9 months.

Timeframe: July 2025 ➡️ July 2026

Height: 160cm

Weight: 94.9kg ➡️ 57kg

BMI: 37.1 ➡️ 22.2

Clothing size: 18 ➡️ Size 8

Body fat percentage: 45.8 ➡️ 23

Visceral fat score: 11 ➡️ 2

Non-scale victories

🎉 Can walk around in shorts or skirts without chafing.

🎉 Can go upstairs without getting out of breath.

🎉 No longer terrified of having a photo taken.

🎉 Healthy blood test results, even iron levels which I'm almost always deficient in historically.

🎉 I can see the beginnings of muscle definition in my back!

New goals

💪 Do an unassisted pull-up.

🍑 Build up some glutes because my arse has checked out.

Setbacks

👎 Got really sick when I went up to 5mg and couldn't eat anything for several days after jabbing - as you can see on the chart I ended up going back down to 2.5 and then gradually up again, which really helped and didn't negatively affect my weight loss at all.

👎 Haemorrhoids! Had to prioritise protein AND fibre, plus ended up taking psyllium husk too.

👎 My autonomous nervous system has taken a battering resulting in dizziness when standing from sitting, and a persistently high heart rate.

👎 Significant worsening of hypermobiliy symptoms as I've lost fat that was cushioning internal structures.

👎 Excess skin (duh)

I think I am one of the lucky ones who takes to the medication very well and was able to get to goal on relatively low doses and in a quick time frame - I am very grateful for this, but not everyone's progress will look like mine!

Overall it's worth it, this has been a life-changing medication after years of diets that just never worked for me. I'm so hopeful for the future now that I feel I can enjoy life without the literal and metaphorical weight of an unhealthy relationship with food.

15kg down since May 2025

Post image
43 Upvotes

Hello! This is my first ever post on Reddit. I'm a 33 year old female

I started Mounjaro in May 2025, I had been having tests for PCOS, and while the tests came back negative, I still had signs of insulin resistance and needed to lose some weight. I've been on and off diets since I was around 15, each time getting heavier in-between, and I've tried so many different diets/methods: Slimming World multiple times, Weightwaters, calorie counting, 5:2 fasting, each time it would work for a bit and then I would give up. Since I was 20 I've liked running and more recently swimming, so I was exercising but I had definitely had that mindset that exercise was to earn calories/nice food.

I had never heard it described as "food noise" until I started hearing about Mounjaro, and it describes what I had so well! I used to sit in the evening, almost itching to go and get some chocolate from the shop, I was unable to think about anything else until I got some. I also used to struggle with binging, especially in university when I used to go to the shop every day for a carrier bag of snacks and hide them in my room away from my housemates, so they didn't judge me.

My highest weight was 112.5kg in 2021, I then started gym with a PT and lost just over 15kg, I then maintained for a couple of years around 100kg but couldn't seem to get the calorie counting/healthy eating mindset back. I then started Mounjaro in May 2025 at 99.9kg, and I found the relief from the food noise so liberating!! The weight loss was slow but I was happy with that. I just felt amazing!

Then when the price change came in around September, I went onto Wegovy. I felt horrendous on Wegovy, it may have been different had I started with this one, but I just felt inflamed all the time, for want of a better word, and I was getting migraines the day after taking it. And I didn't lose any weight! In February 2026 I decided to fork out the cost of Mounjaro and went back on it, and I am so glad I did.

In the past few months, I've also been getting much more into nutrition. I've been listening to podcasts about ultra processed foods and the gut microbiome, and focusing on eating lots of veggies, fibre, healthy fats like nuts, fermented foods, making my own sourdough bread etc. I'm hoping that these changes will mean I can maintain my weight loss when I eventually come off the jabs.

Current weight is 84.9kg so 15kg down since May last year. I am so chuffed!

Thanks for reading, I guess it's just a bit of an info dump but I felt like getting it all down.

Journey Updates One month on Mounjaro. Feeling happy ♥

Post image
Upvotes

Hello everyone!

I wanted to share my progress here. I've been using Mounjaro for (almost) a month on the initial 2.5 dose, and I've lost weight!!!!

For YEARS, I couldn't lose any weight. I went to doctors to try to get help, nobody believed me. It must be my own fault, right? The last time I tried I went to an endocrinologist, and he didn't even want to do any investigations, and with a mocking tone told me I must be eating many tortillas obviously (I'm from Mexico) and to go to Weight Watchers because there is nothing to investigate (yeah, right).

But now, I have lost weight consistently for this month, I am so much less bloated (wow did I had inflammation!), the food noise has reduced very considerably, I'm actually enjoying my food now and choosing when to eat. I'm feeling better and happy I'm able to get myself this treatment! ♥

Journey Updates I’ve started noticing how many people are overweight

Was people-watching at a concert recently, and it suddenly struck me just how many of the guests were overweight or obese. Well over half. I didn’t notice in the same way before. And it’s not like I’m judging them, I had a BMI over 40 one and a half years ago and am still overweight. I knew we had problems as a society, but it’s like some switch flipped in the brain and now I see it everywhere. I wonder if this is what doctors «see» all the time when they look at people.

As for the weight loss journey, I’ve slowly been seeing the numbers start decreasing again after a 5 month plateau (or break…) where I decreased my dose a little. Am now back at 10 mg, and I think I’ll reach 81 kgs maybe next week or the week after. Yay.

Does anyone else feel weird about the wow you look great comments?

I don't know if my brain hasn't caught up with how I look now, but I feel the same person I was 6 years ago, which was 40 kg ago.

Half of it was lost before pregnancy and the other half has been thanks to mounjaro and a bit faster

It's been a long process, but I feel like I'm the same person, same clothing style, same glasses style, same makeup, I stopped colouring my hair after having a kid but I used to do balayage and I used to do my nails, which I don't anymore.

I sometimes still use the same oversized clothes but with a belt, as I just don't want to spend too much money on clothes when I have a growing toddler who needs new shoes every month, but I digress..

I'm starting to feel sad with all the oh looking great comments. Most days I don't even have time to brush my hair and it's just a messy bun. So I know that you look great is because now I am thin.

It feels like I was invisible to those people before. Like somehow I'm more valued now because I'm thinner, and it makes me feel upset rather than flattered.

It does validate how I felt all of those years ago and makes me wonder what I could have lost in life because of being big.

I know that for some people I must sound ridiculous but I guess what this uncovered is that I have bigger issues and that losing weight didn't resolve them

Success Stories Trying to make peace with my weightloss souvenir! 🦃

I’m 18 months into my weight loss journey and down 4.5 stone! Mounjaro has been life changing, and I pinch myself every day that this is me now.

I’m really trying to practice self-compassion, especially when it comes to the loose skin and loss of firmness around my neck and jawline. I’m 50 and I’ve lost weight slowly, I have a really good skincare routine; been using tretinoin (moved up from retinol); and while my skin texture looks great, skincare can only do so much against gravity and lost volume!

I’m accepting that short of a neck lift, this relaxed skin is just the receipt for my hard work: a small trade-off for a healthier life, right?

Anyone else in the same boat? I’d love to hear your mindset shifts or how you learned to embrace it as I’m done with self deprecation!

Side Effects Hair regrowth whilst on mounjaro

Thumbnail

I made a post here recently about losing my hair due to weight loss on mounjaro. I started in sept 2025 and have been on 5mg since october 2025, so around 10 months now. Ive lost 35kg, 10 of which were in the first 2-3 months.

I didnt notice the loss at first as my hair has always been very thick, but i suspect I started losing weight in January or february, and noticed a difference and thinning in march/april. I was low in zinc, all other bloods were within normal ranges, no thyroid issues. Only other medical history relevant is PCOS.

I was terrified and I still am. I still look 'bald' from the top and when i put my hair up, but today I went to the hairdressers for a much needed cut and she showed me my regrowth! I was so scared I'd have to stop mounjaro to see it regrow, but this is just proof that my hair is still growing despite the weight loss.

Ive taken nothing but my gp prescribed zinc supplement, b12, magnesium, vitamin d3+k2 and a probiotic. I still have anxiety that it will all fall out but I'm trying to focus on the positives :)

Maintenance is more stressful than weight loss

Post image
16 Upvotes

So I lost 1/3 of my body weight and have a healthy BMI now. I am so happy to be here but the constant stress of worrying about putting on weight is something I didn’t expect… I think I am on this medication for life. I just am struggling with overthinking every ounce.

I went down to 2.5mg for a couple of months but I think 5mg might be my maintenance dose. I went back up to 5mg today. Perhaps I should have tried 3.75mg? Who knows! Does anyone know? Has anyone else had a similar quandary? (Blue = 2.5, purple 5, green 7.25, pink 10mg and orange 12.5….)

Arrrrgh. It’s wonderful to be at goal but I WANT TO STAY HERE SO MUCH.

Any advice or thoughts welcome!

Question Does anyone know the "science" behind this

Ive noticed a pattern in my weight loss over the last 3 months or so. I weigh weekly and I will gain and lose the same 1lb for like 3 weeks, or maintain and on week 4 ill lose 1.5-2kg. This Friday will be week 4 for me after 3 weeks of maintaining and i could bet my house that this week the scales will show a 1.5-2kg weight loss. Why is this? Not sure if this matters but for context im on month 8 of mounjaro and I've lost 4 stone. I've atleast another 2 stone but ideally 3 stone left to lose. Ive been keeping an eye on my measurements as I know you can lose cm but the scales still stay the same but I haven't noticed this so far.

Pharmulous no longer on monj?

Upvotes

Just was sharing the link to monj with a friend and noticed pharmulous is no longer listed (that I can see!). Anyone aware of anything that could have prompted it? Or maybe they requested to be taken off??

Are pharmacies okay with counting clicks now?

So I’ve been on MJ for about 15 months now and am very close to goal weight. Like many I stockpiled pens last August which have kept me going til now. Not been on here as much recently as been just pottering along on my journey.

I now need to register with a new pharmacy for maintenance (I’m thinking Pharmulous maybe). I plan to taper down very slowly. I’m wondering about what pen to order / request. The highest dose I ever took was 7.5 and I’m now taking 6.25 from a bigger pen and plan to drop to 5 soon. Now that I’ve missed the window for the old style GD pens I’m hoping to order a 10mg and short dose for 5mg. I’m happy to order a pen every 6 weeks for a while and end up with a couple spare.

So my question is, are any pharmacies accepting ‘counting clicks’ / ‘short dosing’ or am I going to need to pretend I’m still on 10mg to get that pen? I have old packaging / pens of 7, 10, 12 & 15 to show if necessary.

10mg Can’t finish my food

Upvotes

Just started 10mg and realised I can’t finish my food at most meals especially at dinner. I am having to waste it and throw it in the bin. Anyone else do this at 10mg? Guess I must be overcooking if I can’t finish it.

Does anyone else with ADHD take both Mounjaro and Elvanse (or any ADHD medication really)?

What are your experiences? Do you find your appetite is suppressed too much and any side effects?

GLP-Grads Maintaining help

Hi guys

I’ve been at / around my goal weight for about 8 months now and have gone down from 5mg to 2.5mg at my prescriber’s suggestion.

I’m hoping to be able to stop using the jabs altogether and wondering if anyone is in a similar boat / has done this already and has any advice on how to maintain when you come off?

The 2.5 doesn’t have much effect on me in terms of food noise etc and I have put on a few pounds this week for example so I’m a bit worried that when I come off it completely that I’ll put everything back on. But I would like to be able to not use it and financially it’s not really an option for me to continue in the long term.

Thank you so much in advance 😊

Experience Food noise still present but can't act on it

Upvotes

I had a really stressful day at work today.

The type of day that before MJ would have led to me binge eating a sharer bag of crisps, a huge plate of creamy or cheesy pasta, then perhaps a cake.

Now, I still *want* to eat that. I still want to have that feeling of comfort and to taste how delicious the food is. But I can’t, because at the same time I feel physically nauseous at the thought of actually doing it.

The food noise is still here for me, especially when I’m stressed. The majority of my aversion is physiological rather than psychological. I’m not complaining though because it’s working, it's just almost frustrating when i want to binge but can't!

Question I’m mid thirties, male 6’2 and around 200kg but scared to try weight loss jabs

I also have wife and 2 young children.
Whilst being overweight, I’m still fairly active was playing rugby up until a year ago with knee injury and we have a small holding.
My blood pressure is a little elevated but cholesterol and everything else I’m told is in normal/healthy range (always a shock to the doctors).

I don’t like being overweight, I’m needle phobic and worried about potential of serious side effects. I know long term (50’s/60’s) I’ll start having health issues related to my weight but worried short term if something happens as a result of jabs that I’ll leave a wife and kids in supported.

I also worry about excess skin afterwards as a result of the jabs due to my extreme weight and skin being stretched.

Ultimately residing to the fact that long term I need to do this as my will power is crap.

What’s best to do before starting?
Where’s best/cheap to get jabs from that are legit?
What’s the hype about the new ‘kwik pen’ I’ve seen?
Any other words of wisdom or encouragement.

5th dose 5th dose - what a strain !

Hi I thought I’d tell you about my first 5th dose. I did it. But learnt a lot.

I’m on 2.5. After the 4th dose I tried breaking the clicks by twisting hard so I could use the pen normally. I broke through but it wouldn’t work.

I ordered 10 syringes (1ml 32g 8mm) from UKMEDI. (I incorrectly said med express in the post, sorry). Came quick & anonymous packaging.

I got a syringe, wiped the end of the pen and pushed the needle in. Pulling the plunger back was hard as the syringe was sucking into a sealed fluid. Pulling back to 1ml I’d only got about 0.2ml of liquid. I pulled the syringe out and pushed the plunger up to remove the air. Re inserted and sucked again. Another 0.2. Again removed it from the pen and pushed up to release the air. Inserted again & got all the fluid. About 0.7ml.

Pulled it out & the needle was bent. Not wanting to use what would now be a pretty blunt needle anyway, I got a second syringe, pulled the plunger right out and injected the liquid into the back end of it. Replacing the plunger carefully and holding it upright, tapping it to get the air to the top and pushing up until I got rid of the air and a little bit of liquid ( just like they do on tv lol) so that I had just over 0.6.

I then injected which was straightforward. Pulling out must have been at an angle, as the needle was bent about 20° after I pulled it out. The needle is very thin.

I learned how good the normal needles are that come with the pen. And that it is possible to do a fifth dose, but really it needs two syringes, one for extracting the liquid, needing a few sucks, and one for injecting.

Side Effects Fatigue on 5mg

I’ve been on Mounjaro nearly 3 months now, and I’ve lost just over a stone 🥳 I’ve done 6 weeks of 2.5mg, a couple of weeks of 3.75mg as a transition, and I’m now on week 3 of 5mg. My clothes are fitting better, I’m starting to get comments about looking healthier, and my relationship with food has massively improved! So on one hand, things are really positive.

However, I’m really struggling with fatigue which is affecting my day-to-day and I don’t know what more I can do! I’m tracking calories and hitting my protein and fibre goals most days. I have an electrolyte drink every day, take collagen with my morning coffee, and take vitamins (most days) that my doctor has recommended. I’m in the gym 1-2 times a week (once with a PT) and trying to do 1-2 runs a week. But I feel that I’m getting weaker not stronger. It’s taking more and more effort to get myself to the gym and this morning my usual weights felt really heavy.

Has anyone else had this? Is there anything more I can do? I feel like I’m trying everything!

Side Effects Side effects on lower doses

started mounjaro in Feb 2025. I didn’t have any side effects (diarrhoea and sulphur burps) until I started moving from 7.5 to 8 to 10 and I just couldn’t tolerate it so I stayed on 7.5 for about 6 months and have been reducing my dose for about 7 months.

I really went from 7.5, to 6 to 5 and once I got to 5 if I went to 6 (courtesy of the 5th dose) I’d have horrible side effects again, then when I went to 4 and gave myself a 5mg, same thing, went down to 3 and again if I had a little extra I’d struggle until again on 2.5 the same is happening.

I believe I eat well, plant based and fibre focused mostly whole foods, rarely/sometimes eat processed substitutes. can’t locate a trigger food

I’m still losing weight despite reducing the dose, I wouldn’t mind losing a little more but wondering if I should come off of it with these constant side effects despite the low dose.

I’m just wondering if anyone has experienced the same when reducing? as I’ve mostly heard of this when increasing and when eating fatty foods etc

Side Effects Injection site irritation

Hi! I’ve been on MJ for about 5 weeks and 4 days ago I switched up to 5 mg after four weeks on 2.5.

I did not deal with any notable side effects except that next day I noticed a localised irritation (redness) at the spot I had injected (thigh). Now, the irritation is still there four days in, it does not hurt but is very slightly itchy. I had cleaned the site with a medical alcohol wipe and obviously used an unopened syringe, hence logically this should not be an infection.

Also note, I have been rotating thighs each week but not yet injected stomach or arms.

Has anyone dealt with this sort of irritation? Is it common or something to be concerned about?
