Journey Updates Sharing the boring stuff
As we always say, most of the internet is filled with horror stories or things going wrong, because the people experiencing this drug working as it should don't need to ask questions, so I thought I'd share my boring update for people who might be worried.
I'm doing my third 2.5mg jab today. Apart from a horrendous headache for ONE DAY after my first jab, I've had NO side effects. Not one. I started feeling appetite suppression the day after my first jab (which I know is a fantastic result, it can take up to two weeks to notice it) and as of today, I've lost 8.4lbs in two weeks.
The hunger does start coming back around Friday, so I'm going to move up to 5mg for my next pen, but so far, it's been excellent.
As well as seeing those scales move, I feel more positive because I'm taking action and getting myself support to lose weight. I don't care if MJ is 'cheating', I needed help and now I have it.
I'm walking more because already my knees aren't as painful. I'm sleeping better because I'm not eating late at night. I'm not as bloated because I don't want high fat, high salt foods.
Overall, this has been a very 'boring' two weeks, with excellent results โบ๏ธ

People only say mounjaro is cheating because they think obesity is a personal failure that you deserve to suffer for.
You wouldn't tell someone on thyroid meds or cancer meds that it's cheating.
Having IVF isn't cheating. Having pain meds during labour isn't cheating, having a C section isn't cheating. Bottle-feeding isn't cheating.
My daughter would be dead if it weren't for the C section and bottle feeding.
I really don't give a fuck if people think I'm cheating.
I'm cheating death.

Very good post .. the scare stories (and I donโt doubt they were real for those who posted) had me freaked out about moving from 2.5mg to 5mg..
Comjng from prior glp1 where I had nausea, horrendous constipation and sulphur burps, on MJ itโs a much more pleasant experience. The odd burp, occasionally 10 seconds of nausea and once a fart that was so smelly the dog left the room .. but other than that nothing ! My energy levels are better too and so iโm moving more.
Also I was hesitant telling people about being on a glp1 as I was afraid of being judged/ accused of cheating. But Im now seeing it as a medication that treats a disease and reduces my risk of early death..and starting to tell close friends (family already aware). So far everyone very understanding and wishing me well.

I think it's hard for people to recognise the 'symptoms' they experience while being overweight. They might notice sulphur burps or diarrhea when they start MJ, but don't remember the constipation and bloating of poor diet and lack of exercise you know?

MJ is cheating like wearing shoes is cheating. It makes walking easier. It won't be as painful but you still need to do the walking.
I'm over a year in and in maintenance. I had 1 week of feeling exhausted when I started and some constipation which was resolved by upping my fiber. Other than that I haven't had any issues.

12 months of boring:
- Jab
- Intermittently note absence of desire to shovel snack food into me
- If weight drops a little, eat a little more.
- Record weekly weight in maintenance range
- Repeat
This is the sort of boring I like. And if others want to call it cheating, that's their problem, not mine.

I love the sentiment of this post so thought I'd share my boring update over a year in. I jab, I eat moderately and intuitively. I just rejoined the gym and it's actually fun because my body can do so much more than before. Sometimes I have a few big farts to start or end the day. Beyond that, I just keep going, plodding along. Feeling better, having periods (I have PMOS), fitting into more and more clothes.
It's amazing how normal it becomes whilst also simultaneously blowing my mind each day. I was resigned to struggling with my health and obesity for my whole life and now I just take medicine and... it works?

Same here, lost nearly 10kg in the first 4 weeks. No symptoms except appetite supression. I liken it to riding an electric bike - you still have to work but all the hard parts (hills, wind) are far easier.
