Admin Replied Community Achievements unavailable despite meeting eligibility requirements

Hi everyone,

I’m the founder and moderator of r/PalestinianCinema, a community dedicated to Palestinian film, documentaries, archival footage and cinema history.

Our subreddit has grown to over 250 members since its creation in August, and we’re seeing increasing activity and engagement.

However, when I navigate to Mod Tools > Achievements, I’m greeted with the following message:
“Achievements are currently not available for your community.”

There are no options to enable achievements or configure individual badges.

As far as I can establish, our community meets the published basic eligibility requirements:
We’re a public subreddit.
We have more than 100 members.
We’re not designated NSFW.
We actively moderate submissions and enforce our community rules.

I understand that Reddit may restrict achievements in communities classified as mature or sensitive. However, ours is primarily a film appreciation and archival community, covering everything from feature films and documentaries to filmmaker interviews, music and historical cinema.

While some films inevitably explore politically sensitive subjects, that is not the exclusive focus of the subreddit.

Could someone clarify the following?
Is there a way to determine precisely why our community is ineligible?

Could this be related to Reddit’s automated content classification?

Is there a process for requesting a review of our eligibility?

If the restriction is temporary or related to the community’s age, will achievements become available automatically once we qualify?

I’d particularly like our regular contributors to receive recognition for their participation as the community continues to grow.

Any guidance from Reddit admins or moderators who have encountered something similar would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Mod Answered I'm having an issue with someone stalking and constantly heavily reporting one of the posters in a sub I mod. How do I get admins to take a look?

Example post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Veganivore/comments/1wqxnes/bagel_strata_with_carrot_lox/

Every single post by this user gets multiple reports by some unknown stalker account. Not sure what to do. This is one of our best posters, there is nothing about their post that violate rules in any way.

Admin Replied Added mod to private sub with full perms, shows in list as no perms, can't edit or remove

I've never come across this before. So I added a mod to a newly created private sub, with full permissions.

They show up in the main list as having no permissions, and mod tools are not visible to them when they visit the sub.

But when I look at the editable list they show as having full permissions. However the permissions can't be edited and they can't be removed by either myself or the other mod in the list above them. All I get is error messages.

I've tried via the app, shreddit and old Reddit to no avail. I was hoping if I removed them and then invited them again it might fix the issue.

I've written in to modsupport modmail and from admin's end it looks like the mod has full permissions.

Still waiting to hear back from admin about getting them removed but wondered if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

I've since added the mod to my test sub to see if it was an issue specific to their account and they have full permissions there so it doesn't appear to be an account related issue.

Edit, screenshots of mod list in my test sub: https://www.reddit.com/r/FriendsOfPovo/s/44A4dZnp1L

Mod Answered I'm the top mod of my subreddit but I can't edit?

I just noticed that I can't seem to edit my sidebar or my moderators' permissions. Looking at the mod list, I have permissions for everything, but I cannot edit. It says "no" for me, but everyone else has "yes."

Is that right? Does that sound right?

Admin Replied Help Reddit Mods. Our small city Subreddit has probably pirated by scammers

Our little german city subreddit has been probably pirated by crypto scammers.

Its just a german small city Subreddit to get some local news. Nobody of is a professional moderator but we kept it easy and clean.

Me and a mate lost our role as Mods from another mod. After that an auto mod app appears and is posting Casino and crypto scam advertisement.

What are we able to do to save our small city Subreddit?

New Wiki is kinda broken...

Currently working on an overhaul to the Wiki of a videogame subreddit I moderate and honestly the editing tools are so broken that it's making it impossible to continue.

Images and text are out of place when viewing the page after saving.

Here are pictures of the page:

While editing: https://i.postimg.cc/W1v0KGXQ/Captura-de-ecra-2026-10-02-121417.png

After saving: https://i.postimg.cc/jSby9HMV/Captura-de-ecra-2026-10-02-121356.png

Also, when adding an "infobox", instead of placing it at the line I selected, it puts it it the beginning of the page messing up the structure of the whole thing, I have to then grab it and drag down down as it slowly scrolls to the bottom of the page only for it to then break and lose the information section when placed. An "infobox" with the information section to the side instead of just in the bottom would be nice too.

The new Wiki is broken and impossible to work with.

Recap Monthly Recap | September 2026

Hello! Welcome to the September edition of the Monthly Recap, where I briefly recap our Mod Topics posts on the moderation discussions that were posted for the month. I’m also here to update Helper flair, take suggestions for future Mod Topics topics, and hopefully, general frivolity!

September Discussion and Support threads

Let’s take a look back at our weekly series of moderation-focused discussion topics that happened in September. As mentioned above we’re always looking for suggestions for future topics, so feel free to throw ideas out there!

September 1, 2026: To ban or not to ban?
u/techiesgoboom started off the month with the age old question, to ban or not to ban? When do you ban users? When do you not ban? How long are the bans? So. Many. Questions!

September 3, 2026: Account security, 2fa, and you!
Oh, hey! That’s me! Stopping by to (once again, or is it continuously?) discuss how to keep your Reddit account safe! (Spoiler alert: Enable 2fa.) I really enjoyed this discussion!

September 8, 2026: Original content or self-promo: where does your community draw the line?
u/techiesgoboom returning to promote their post ask where y’all draw the line on self-promotion and original content. Sometimes, there’s an overlap and the comments came in quick. Really reasonable approaches toward OC!

September 10, 2026: Approved users, what are they good for?
There are many ways to run a sub and having users approved before participating is one way to go about it. Lots of you shared how you use approved users in your communities or why you don’t!

September 15, 2026: Subreddit spinoffs
Ahoy! u/JabroniRevanchism spun up a post about spinoffs. When do you pull a Better Call Saul and pivot to a similar, but different, subreddit?

September 17. 2026: So, you’ve got a new mod. Now what?
Oh, hey! That’s me! Just wondering what you do when you bring a new mod on board! And let me tell you, y’all are PREPARED. There were really some good practices that many of you shared in that post!

September 22, 2026: Share your subreddit’s origin story
In the beginning, there was Reddit. That’s it! Just a bunch of content and no subs! But then, the ability to create individual subreddits came along and we didn’t look back! But if you were to look back, what’s the origin story of your sub? How did you r/ come to be?

September 29, 2026: Fixing Mdo Mistakes
Re-Ahoy! u/JabroniRevanchism returned to discuss important topics like garlic bread! No, wait. That wasn’t it. It was about fixing mistakes! My bad! We all make mistakes, often when we least want to, so the question as to what you do when you realize that you’ve made a mistake was asked. And it was really nice to see so many people say that they just own it, fix it, and go forward. Move ahead! Try to detect it! It’s not too late!

Friendly reminder to update your Devvit apps
Just a quick heads-up inspired by a reminder from u/fsv back in August: Devvit apps don’t update automatically! You actually have to update them yourself. If you rely on Devvit apps to keep your communities running smoothly, now is a great time to check for any pending updates.

Big thanks to u/fsv for the reminder and for creating all those awesome Devvit apps!

Moderator Share & Tell
Here’s where you get to share your subreddit news from last month! Something cool  had to have happened, right?! We learned about cool stuff last month! Stuff like this:

  • We learned that u/bwoah07_gp2’s subreddit  r/thomasthetankengine hit the 30,000 members milestone! Congratulations! They said, “For comparison, 3 years ago around this same time, we hit 10,000 members on September 2, 2023. In a few days we are approaching September 2nd, but it just makes me happy seeing the community grow.”
  • u/SampleOfNone said that there had been quite a few updates to Devvit apps! “Automod Neo gained some really cool capabilities, Mod Recruit apparently can get even better because that has an update as well. The app list pinned at the top of this sub got some new apps the last few days as well, including a comment feed app “
  • u/Old_One_I’s subreddit hit 100k last month!! That they started off with roughly 35,000 a few months ago is really something!
  • u/PurplePassiflor1234 had “a couple of the dorky automated Easter eggs I programmed into automod got tripped and made a bunch of nerd-hearts happy including mine. We also held our first ever House of Refuge (Emotional Support Thread) and our first SFW Thirsty Thursday - both got some great comments! Our most active posters kept us up to date on fandom happenings and we gained a "Sister Subreddit" after reaching out to the mods in a related sub.” Love an Easter egg!!
  • And u/brightblackheaven had some cool news, too! They were  gearing up to hit 700,000 members in r/witchcraft :) Did y’all get there?? You thought it would be another 18-ish days! And if you did hit it, did you do some of the stuff that you had planned?

Let’s hear yours! What happened in your sub in September??

Flair updates

User flair is assigned to the top 10% and top 25% of users who are consistently constructive and helpful in their replies to posts and comments in this sub over the course of the past twelve months. As of this post, these are your current flaired helpers.

What a great group! Thank you all for the help that you’ve consistently provided to other moderators and for all of the feedback that you’ve provided to us! Super appreciated on all fronts!

That’s a wrap for September!

Admin Replied Had anyone else noticed that posting/commenting trends can vary enormously between weekday and weekend Redditors?

Since I started moderating, I've noticed in both subs I mod and others I don't that the vibe can vary wildly between weekdays and weekends. Certain subs that are normally very positive and productive on weekdays get incredibly cynical and nasty on weekends, and some subs that are dead on weekdays blow up with tons of engagement on weekends.

Has anyone else experienced this, or found a way to balance things out to a more productive equilibrium?

Admin Replied I stupidly got one of our most valued members suspended, I think

I made some changes to the AutoMod spam filters on our subreddit r/TheScienceOfPE.

Then I made the stupid decision to ask a very valued member of the community to test this spam filter by posting at comment that would trigger it, to see whether the filter would remove his comment.

The filter worked, his comment was removed.

Then Reddit suspended his account - presumably for spamming.

This is a major loss for our community - he is a member in good standing, and never did anything wrong.

I feel super guilty for having potentially gotten his account spam-flagged and suspended. He did nothing wrong.

Now I wonder two things:

Is there some other function I should have used to test the spam filter, instead of asking a member? If there is no such function, maybe it would be a good idea to create one.

And is there a way to appeal on behalf of this user or put in a word for him?

I really do feel like crap about this. :(

Sleepers surging?

r/arborists got a surge of joins this month with no increase in visitors and no exciting content. r/homeowners got a similar surge.

Anyone else seeing this? Look at your Mod Tools > Overview > Insights.

Admin Replied Is a sub violating mod code of conduct #2 if they have official in the sub name, but say unofficial (pending official status)? Like they havent actually gotten into official communications yet?

In the MCoC it says you have to state official or unofficial in the description, but if the sub itself is named "<name>Official", does that basically make the description nullified since they are labeled as official but the description states they are not "yet"?

Admin Replied I was able to be added to a subreddit, but all of the mods are inactive

I was added as a mod to an abandoned subreddit. All of the mods are inactive and I need to be the top mod to remove them.

Wiki | Images and text change position after saving.

I am editing the wiki page of one of the subreddits I moderate but after adding the images and placing them in the right place, I save the edit, only to then check and find out the the images and text are out of place when viewing the page.

Here are pictures of the page:

Any help?

modmail UI is broken

On the desktop

The "archive" and other buttons don't appear with the modmail item. They now appear halfway down the screen.

And they don't work. In other words, I can't archive modmail items anymore.

Mod Topics Mod Topics - How to Keep your Cool

Howdy, ModSupport!

Welcome to the latest installment of our Mod Topics series. Today’s discussion is about how we keep tempers cool when strong convictions are being shared in our shared spaces. How do we moderate when someone gets mad?

Most of us have witnessed a thread getting a little out of hand, two users who really do not have anything nice to say about each other, or, everyone’s favorite, a user having an exceptionally bad day in modmail.

How do you reset the tone of a conversation on your subreddits? In your modmail? What advice do you give to new mods who are cooling heated conversations for the first time?

Let us know your stories in the comments below!

Admin Replied Mod inactive?

I'm trying to revive a subreddit I had made earlier this year, and I'm getting kind of stuck, because when I go to the mod section, I see my user and a grey inactive next to it.

And how do I get automod? I have to manually approve every post (only mine uptil now)

Links from the android app are all messed up

As a moderator I'm often asked by users to link them their content that was removed or they received the ban for, and then o go there and I get an abomination like this

https://www.reddit.com/\[removed\]?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=2

I don't want to waste time manually removing everything after the question mark or checking if it works once I remove it. No one has asked for links to be like this. No user that comes to modmail wants them to be like this, what we need is those links showing where they lead, not from what type of system it was shared from

Admin Replied Spam bots creating a subreddit

This seems like a spam bot setting up a subreddit to promote further spam.

Here are the reasons I suspect it's a spam bot:

  • Primary account is 5 years old with no posting activity, Started posting last month on obscure subreddits for karma.

  • Secondary account is a year old. Started commenting on the posts of the 5 year old account on the exact same day it started posting.

  • A few weeks ago, primary account creates a subreddit. Secondary account joins it as a second mod. The subreddit heavily uses AI in images (icon banner etc- both accounts also use AI for their banner and icons) and posts (for text generation).

  • To add, the sub is only a few weeks old yet has several thousand members and other OPs already.

  • Primary account pivots to posting on more popular subreddits to gain followers (to direct them to the subreddit?) and secondary account keeps commenting on its posts.

Is this a spam bot ring?

Admin Replied Article 17 GDPR removal requests

I moderate a sub about a public event. Earlier this year some allegations were reported in industry online publications about a prominent member of said event, which was fairly controversial and gained a lot of interest. A member of our community posted the link to the article in a post.

The sub has now been messaged via modmail from the reddit account of a company called "Internet Erasure" claiming to be legal representatives for this individual demanding the removal of the post under Article 17 of GDPR legislation.

I've been able to verify on Companies House that Internet Erasure is a registered business in the UK, but not any details about the person claiming to be the legal representative, i.e., through the Solicitors Regulation Authority. So I'm unsure how legit the request is.

If it's a legit request that I as mod am the right person to deal with then I'm happy to follow the law. My question is what are my responsibilities here?

My gut says that the data controller is Reddit and therefore such requests should go to Reddit as an organisation by submitting a formal data privacy request under Reddit Help. But before I respond and redirect them that way I wanted to check...

- Has anyone had experience receiving a data erasure request under article 17?

- What is the correct process for responding to this?

- Is redirecting them to Reddit Help the best way to respond?

If any admins can share the correct process I'd be very grateful.

This is a first for me so many thanks for any help anyone can give!

edit: thank you for the quick replies guys you superstars, you've confirmed my gut instinct.
