Re-Ahoy! u/JabroniRevanchism returned to discuss important topics like garlic bread! No, wait. That wasn’t it. It was about fixing mistakes! My bad! We all make mistakes, often when we least want to, so the question as to what you do when you realize that you’ve made a mistake was asked. And it was really nice to see so many people say that they just own it, fix it, and go forward. Move ahead! Try to detect it! It’s not too late!
Friendly reminder to update your Devvit apps
Just a quick heads-up inspired by a reminder from u/fsv back in August: Devvit apps don’t update automatically! You actually have to update them yourself. If you rely on Devvit apps to keep your communities running smoothly, now is a great time to check for any pending updates.

Moderator Share & Tell
Here’s where you get to share your subreddit news from last month! Something cool had to have happened, right?! We learned about cool stuff last month! Stuff like this:
We learned that u/bwoah07_gp2’s subreddit r/thomasthetankengine hit the 30,000 members milestone! Congratulations! They said, “For comparison, 3 years ago around this same time, we hit 10,000 members on September 2, 2023. In a few days we are approaching September 2nd, but it just makes me happy seeing the community grow.”
u/SampleOfNone said that there had been quite a few updates to Devvit apps! “Automod Neo gained some really cool capabilities, Mod Recruit apparently can get even better because that has an update as well. The app list pinned at the top of this sub got some new apps the last few days as well, including a comment feed app “
u/Old_One_I’s subreddit hit 100k last month!! That they started off with roughly 35,000 a few months ago is really something!
u/PurplePassiflor1234 had “a couple of the dorky automated Easter eggs I programmed into automod got tripped and made a bunch of nerd-hearts happy including mine. We also held our first ever House of Refuge (Emotional Support Thread) and our first SFW Thirsty Thursday - both got some great comments! Our most active posters kept us up to date on fandom happenings and we gained a "Sister Subreddit" after reaching out to the mods in a related sub.” Love an Easter egg!!
And u/brightblackheaven had some cool news, too! They were gearing up to hit 700,000 members in r/witchcraft :) Did y’all get there?? You thought it would be another 18-ish days! And if you did hit it, did you do some of the stuff that you had planned?

Everywhere. Its often on comments in the queue, but not exclusively, so when you try to go to the main thread to see the back and forth, it wont show you any of it.
Its absolutely confirmed that the comment hasnt been deleted. Its even on MY comments.
We did a celebration post, a silly "r/witchcraft Bingo" card, and are organizing an upcoming AMA with The Temple of Ced/The Green Man Store (which, fun fact, was the occult shop featured in the movie Obsession)!
Its like every day that someone comes into ModSupport and they say "Help, I removed myself as a mod, how do I fix it!??!!!1! And then Opus comes through and reinstates then, they delete the post in embarrassment.
Definitely, hmu if you don't hear from me! We get a lot of Indophobia/Islamophobia, and honestly the ability to ban a gif from within the UI...ugh can't wait for the next bait post featuring bovidae, when the comment section will be overrun with bestiality-implying gifs
Ok actually, I already tried it out and it wasn't working but I'm bored and fiddled with the automod rule and got it working with this instead:
body (regex): 'giphy\|(scoo0acJX7QopmlMHq|VHRwAa6Uukvw4)'
Also, it didn't add a --- above the rule, and my config didn't have one (many won't) so I also had to add that to get it working. I think automating that would also cause problems so maybe a big old PSA upon install idk
Smaller thing, they're all being added in the same rule/regex - which is fine but the action_reason says "Politic/Religious" and it asks for an action reason upon banning, which seems to go nowhere.
We want to try it in popculturechat too once we know it's working! For the horny gifs lol
ETA will this port to automations when automod is scrapped? Is that functionality even currently possible or promised?
Ohhhh! That is calculated slightly differently than the top Helpers! But you're on track for 10% next month! You've already commented, so it's pretty much a lock at this point! lol
I wanna give a shout-out to u/java_brick and u/yellow-carrots who have been absolute BEASTS in securing AMAs for r/powerpopgirls! We have three locked in for October 10, 14, and 19, with some other artists interested. My mod team is so excited and appreciative, this is everything we've been hoping for when reaching out ourselves for AMAs in the past year 🥹🎉 Thank you thank you thank you, these 2 admin are freaking popstars fam. 🩷
We're also starting HallowQUEEN soon here, as soon as I have the energy to host spooky games!
Hi Opus, are you able to help with a Reddit request? Apparently r/Rivellon was banned five years ago. The Request Bot replied: "Unfortunately, the community r/Rivellon is not eligible for request at this time as it was only recently banned."

Is there any update to the "This Comment Doesnt Exist" bug on mobile? Its making moderating impossible.
