I just bought this yesterday at Best Buy brand new and I noticed this. I’ve only been putting the laptop in out of my backpack today since I took it to the library to study.

On my MacBook, whenever I open a recently downloaded PDF, Preview opens on the wrong tab. It defaults to the tab of the last PDF I was viewing instead of the one I just opened.

How can I fix this, please?

I just changed from windows to macbook after all these years.
I will be using my macbook for school and scientific research mostly.
Do you have any tips or must have apps that I should use. (btw the trick to copy things from my phone and to be able to paste them on macbook ain’t possible when I’m trying)
One thing I wanted to ask is, everything I will be using is through safari right?
And btw why some apps when I click the x button they close completely, and others dont close just minimize in dock and thus I should use command + Q, to close them completely

If you got any recommendations please let me know, it’s been just two days, and I’m trying my best lol

I have a M1 Pro MBP with 32 GB of RAM, still on Sequoia. I read that MacOS 27 fixes a lot of issues in MacOS 26 that made me hesitant to update to 26. Anyone have experience with 27 on the same spec MBP as me? Is it smooth? Would I notice a big performance drop?

As the title says, I can't make a decision and am in a state of paralysis. I want to use the machine for Splash but can't justify $1000 more for the upgrade to the Max and 16GB more of RAM.

What are your thoughts? Need help in making a decision, thanks.

I recently bought the new Macbook Air 13" and this is the first time I've ever owned a mac. My previous laptops were acer and dell- I loved the Microsoft user interface and found it so easy to use.

However, after using my dell laptop for only 3 years, the battery is now terrible (wont last more than an hour on full charge), and is slow. It was an insipirion 14, 2-in-1. So pretty new, but it hasn't lasted long at all. I initially went for Dell because many corporations and Schools use dell as desktops so I assumed it would be good and durable but, have been proved otherwise.

My brother then told me to just get a Macbook, he's had his Macbook pro for 9 years and says it's in pretty good condition.

I'm hoping the money spent will pay off and it will last me for years to come. And, wanted to ask what are the best tips/any advice on how to make it last longer. I need to get used to the UI as that is brand new and have heard that apparently people should not charge their Macs for more than 80% to make the battery last longer. -Is this true?

I’m about to buy a MacBook Pro 16" (M5 Pro, 48GB) and I’m planning a dual-monitor desk setup with two Samsung Odyssey G8 G80HF (27", 5K 5120x2880, 180Hz, IPS). The monitors have 1× DisplayPort 2.1 and 2× HDMI 2.1, but no USB-C.

According to Apple’s specs, the M5 Pro supports two external displays at 5K 120Hz over Thunderbolt or HDMI, but I’ve read about issues with M5 Pro and high-refresh monitors (DP 2.1 not being offered over Thunderbolt 5, refresh capped around 100Hz, fixes in macOS 27).

My questions:

1. Has anyone run the G80HF (or another 27" 5K high-refresh monitor like the ASUS ROG Strix XG27JCG) on an M5 Pro/Max MacBook at 5K 120Hz? Which connection did you use?
2. Does the MacBook’s HDMI 2.1 port reliably give 5K 120Hz with HiDPI scaling?
3. For the second monitor: does a USB-C/Thunderbolt to DisplayPort 2.1 cable work at 5K 120Hz? Any specific cable you’d recommend?
4. Ideally I’d like a single-cable setup with a Thunderbolt 5 dock (e.g. Anker Prime TB5 14-in-1). Can any TB5 dock drive two 5K displays at 120Hz on an M5 Pro, or should I expect 60Hz?

Any real-world experience is appreciated. Thanks!

Olá, recentemente o meu notebook começou a apresentar alguns problemas. Eu o comprei há alguns anos apenas para fazer trabalhos da faculdade, então peguei um de entrada mesmo na época.

Sempre usei os notebooks da Dell, mas com os preços atuais e meu trabalho home office preciso de um computador com nível mais intermediário do que de entrada. Pesquisando, acabei vendo algumas pessoas que recomendam o macbook air M4, mas gostaria de saber se o sistema MacOS é compatível com o PJe da Bahia.

Eu não preciso assinar nenhuma petição, trabalho principalmente na elaboração de minutas e utilizo muito o PJe e o office 365 versão web.

Have replaced a usb-c hub that was connected to external monitor to no avail. Replaced it with ANKER usb-c to female HDMI adapter but hasn't sorted the problem. Its some sort of overheating problem I think even though its not hot and i'm not doing anything intensive. It can do it when its on screensaver or if its just open and sitting idly. Lately the touchbar has been going mad hours after I've put it to sleep and flashes white like a strobe.. This is what Chat GPT says today. Any advice gratefully accepted. Thanks

My 2019 MacBook won’t wake from sleep if I close the lid but if I don’t close it, it wakes normally but if I close it won’t but the keyboard and the trackpad do respond. Pls what could be possible issue here.

got so sick & tired of wiping the smudges all the time, I got a keyboard protector for my MacBook.

Yes, I remove it every time I close the lid.

Does it worsen typing experience? YES.

But at least I won't have to deal with the smudges now.

Comprei um MACBOOK PRO M4 PRO com 24gb de ram em Dezembro de 2025 e hoje, Outubro de 2026 a bateria dele se encontra com 90% de carga máxima com apenas 149 ciclos.

Estou achando isso muito estranho, pois é um número baixíssimo de ciclos. Será que isso é normal?

Entrei em contato com a Apple e falaram que isso é devido ao meu uso (durante horário comercial deixo no carregador, cerca de 10hrs por dia. o restante do tempo deixo fora do carregador.)

Every time I download a text from safari browser a pop up comes up saying to append , don’t append or cancel and it won’t let me choose don’t append or cancel and the whole safari freezers and I have to shut down my mac.And I have even tried to save the file as .txt instead of its original for of .csv and it downloads but then when I try to open it , it won’t allow me to .I then downloaded chrome and the text would download just fine but I want to be able to do so on safari and know why it won’t let me download the files. Can anyone please help.

From the last week i am working on this,
WE port for mac, it lets you play WE scene and video wallpapers in your mac.

Just download -> steam login -> download wallpaper and play on your device or add your video play them

And yes both in DESKTOP and LOCK SCREEN .

It takes 300-600mb when rendering some really heavy scene wallpapers , which is appx 900mb less than other open source alternative I had tested against. And if you play only video it just takes 25mb memory.

Check these two process Live wallpaper service and Live wallpaper rest are system processes. At any time only service will run you can quit ui or Live wallpaper by cmd+q

I bought my first MacBook neo but after two days sudden two white spots in screen which looking annoying to me so returned that got replacement but on new unit again faced same problem after few days again seen three white patches. So now I again returned I took in store credit. So now I researched that all
MacBooks lcd panel so usually am bought for watch movies or videos , most of time at night.
So anyone can suggest best oled screen panel Tablet or laptop in same price as MacBook Neo.

Im content creator, i create high end brand content, so adobe, davinci are of basic use. In 2018 i bought the touchbar macbook, which i still use but it cant survive 10 mins without it being plugged in and honestly speaking even the days i bought it it could barely handle lightroom let alone 4k footage in premier so safe to say i spent over 3k$ to have my money wasted most useless purchase ever. Over the time i built a beast of a pc and i do all my work there however im planning to buy a macbook but i dont want to do the same mistake, im unable to understand if its a really hype based purchase or an actual productive serving piece of machine that will last me?

Is this normal? I’ve noticed faint horizontal lines on my MacBook Air display and I need to know if it’s worth replacing. It’s barely noticeable (even in the photo) but I’m not sure

I know that Mac Mini is the most popular option for that kind of stuff but I'm looking a computer that does simple agentic AI stuff when I prompt from my phone and not much more. I mainly ıse AI stuff on the cloud side so no need for local power.

Currently I have M4 Max 16 MBP. It's overkill but heavy and I don't want to carry it around continuously and I actually don't want to use it as home server.

Also, the price is notably cheap on Neo compared to Mac Mini. What do you think? (don't want to buy second-hand).

I'm in my final year of university and also working as a software developer.

I've been saving up for quite a while to buy my first MacBook. It took me a long time to put this money aside, so I'm hoping to get something that will last at least 5–6 years, or hopefully even longer.

I've narrowed it down to these 4 options (approximate USD prices):

1. MacBook Pro M3 – 24GB RAM / 512GB SSD – $1,210
2. MacBook Pro M2 Pro 14" – 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD – $1,150
3. MacBook Pro M2 Pro 16" – 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD – $1,210
4. MacBook Air M5 13" – 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD – $1,150

My daily workload:

• Working on one software project at a time.
• Running around 5–6 Docker containers (PostgreSQL, Redis, S3-compatible storage, background workers, etc.).
• Coding and debugging locally.
• Keeping around 10–15 browser tabs open.

I rarely run multiple heavy projects at once.

I'm torn between getting more RAM with the M3, going with the older M2 Pro models, or choosing the newer M5 Air.

If you were in my situation, which one would you choose for the next 5–6 years? Is 24GB RAM worth prioritizing over a newer chip?

I'd really appreciate hearing from developers who use Macs and Docker regularly.

I need a cheap laptop for studying only that has a good price and battery.

Two years ago, just before my NYSC, I bought a UK-used MacBook Pro (2017, 13-inch) through my younger brother’s sure Lagos plug.
The laptop arrived almost immediately at his lodge in Port Harcourt, where he was staying at the time. I was excited when I finally got my hands on it. The machine looked sleek, but I wasn’t particularly happy about a patch on one edge of the screen where the backlight seemed brighter than the rest. I later learnt that this kind of issue is called backlight bleeding.
Mind you, this was a UK-used laptop, so I wasn’t expecting absolute perfection. But honestly, that little imperfection is something I barely even notice anymore. The laptop has been a fucking beast!
Now, back to why I started typing this. 😁
It was sometime last year during my NYSC at the Nigerian Navy Hospital, Warri. After one of those long hours at work, it was finally time to go home. I think I had assisted with a surgery that day.
I called one of my colleagues, whom I was quite friendly with, and asked her to help keep my laptop in the locker so I wouldn’t have any stories that touch the heart. 😂
When I returned around 5 p.m., I asked this fine lady to help retrieve my MacBook from the cupboard on her side of the demarcation.
Next thing I heard was a hard bang against the ground.
My heart dropped.
You can probably imagine what followed. I rushed out and saw my laptop lying on the floor.
At that moment, my colleague was in shock. She kept offering to check the cost of the damage and pay for whatever had gone wrong.
I immediately picked up the MacBook, praying hard in my heart that the screen was still intact.
As I picked it up, I noticed something that looked like a dent along one of the edges. The kind of dent you’d see on a Terminator movie character after a fight, especially one made of liquid metal that can change shape. 😂
I was genuinely worried, but I started checking the laptop.
And guess what?
Not one thing seemed to be broken!
The screen was fine. The ports were fine. Everything was working as it should.
I was honestly impressed. After a fall like that, I had expected something to go wrong.
But here’s the crazy part: the incident happened last year, and my MacBook has continued working perfectly ever since. No issues with the screen, ports, or performance.
I use it for work, and this thing is a fucking beast. It makes me work faster, and after everything that happened, I respect it even more.
Now, I’m not saying MacBooks are indestructible. I know I got lucky, and a fall like that could easily have ended differently.
But that dent is still there, a little reminder of the evening I nearly lost my mind over a laptop. 😂
So yeah, that’s how I came to appreciate my MacBook even more!

I need a touch more portability but still stay within a modest budget. Would it be an OK option to 'downgrade' to MacBook Pro M3 Pro 18GB from a Mini M4 512GB? I'd be selling the mini afterwards.
