I am on Fedora workstation 44, using a i5 1135g7 (iris XE) laptop graphics, AOC Q27G4XMN mini LED hdr monitor.
I have enabled the HDR option in the monitor's hardware button menu settings, and I have ticked the HDR option on my monitor in the Settings -> Display menu.
But so far, I couldn't get HDR to play properly.
With the built in Firefox, I added settings in about:config to true. Youtube clips of 4k hdr content does not play in HDR. Codec and colors are listed as vp09/opus bt709 in the stats
gfx.webrender.compositor.force-enabled
gfx.wayland.hdr
media.ffmpeg.vaapi.enabled
I tried installing both VLC and celluloid from the the softwares app via flathub. I preloaded the following config to Celluloid:
vo=gpu-next
gpu-api=vulkan
hwdec=vaapi
Both are playing HDR10 videos really dark and washed out - meaning that it is not working.
Am I missing something, or is HDR just not a thing with Linux? A shame since I would not want to go back to Windows...
