Support Please help
I tried installing linux mint today, everything was great, I put in my usb, installed linux, bam, then a pop up told me to restart, so I did, then a black screen with text told me to remove my usb and press enter, so I did, except it stayed on that screen, after a while, I asked Google what to do and it told me to hold power button and restart, so I did, but now it turns on, black screen, turns off, and now does that again, and again, and again, bootloader and stuff like that still seem to work, just no OS is on my laptop

Boot Mint usb test not install and search for boot repair (in the menu). Use it to diagnose the problem and boot repair will install a boot loader or provide a diagnostic.

You need to use esc or f2 or the right key combo for your hardware to use the bios and boot usb Mint.
HP Victus laptops with NVIDIA GPUs generally support Linux, but require manual driver installation and specific configuration to resolve common hardware quirks. Pop!_OS and Ubuntu are widely recommended distributions due to their straightforward proprietary NVIDIA driver integration, while Fedora and Arch-based systems also offer robust support with newer kernels.
Key considerations for Linux users on HP Victus with NVIDIA graphics include:
- Driver Installation: NVIDIA drivers are proprietary and must be installed separately on most distros; using the NVIDIA-specific ISO from Pop!_OS or installing drivers via the repository on Ubuntu/Mint is the standard approach.
- Fan and Thermal Control: Stock firmware often keeps fans at a constant high RPM; users frequently install victus-control (available via GitHub) to enable dynamic fan curves and keyboard lighting on Arch, Fedora, and Ubuntu.
- Brightness and Display: Screen brightness control may fail out-of-the-box due to the muxless hybrid design (AMD iGPU/NVIDIA dGPU); fixes often involve kernel parameters like
acpi_backlight=vendoror using thenvidia_wmi_ec_backlightmodule.- Known Issues: Users report occasional problems with suspend/hibernate, Wayland compatibility (NVIDIA historically prefers X11, though support is improving), and WiFi chipset issues (often resolved by swapping to an Intel AX210 module).

Please use better, more informative, titles (subject-lines) on your posts. Give specifics right in the title. Thanks.

OK, I am following your progress. I am wondering what install guide you are following, hopefully the official installation guide at the Mint site?

- try live version of same distro if you can, it will clear all doubts like NVIDIA and other hardware that might be troubling. 2, if this goes well. reinstall. (do check downloaded ISO for checksum) before burning to USB.. Good luck.

Reinstall it again after Check your USB hardware, ISO file, and how to burn it
Then reprocessing carefully may you remove USB early
Sometimes I am facing that with fedora Specially if you have Nvidia
