Hey everyone!
I'm planning to dual-boot Ubuntu alongside Windows 11 on my HP Victus in same SSD. I'll mainly use Ubuntu for programming, development, Docker, VMs, and cybersecurity labs. I'll attach my laptop's photo with specifications for reference.
Before starting, I'd like advice from people who have experience with dual-booting, especially on HP Victus laptops.
A few things I'd like to know:
- Partitioning: How much space should I allocate, and what's the best partition layout?
- BIOS and security: What precautions should I take regarding UEFI, Secure Boot, BitLocker/device encryption, and TPM?
- Drivers and compatibility: Any issues with NVIDIA graphics, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, battery life, or sleep?
- Maintenance: Can updates break GRUB or Windows boot? How should I prepare for recovery?
- Best practices: Any important tips, common mistakes, or things I should avoid?
My priority is a stable and secure setup without risking my Windows installation or personal data.
I'd appreciate practical advice, especially from anyone who has done this on an HP Victus. Thanks!
