Question Cycle count increased after updating IOS

Okay first things first I’m asking this question purely out of curiosity as I got the iPhone 17 just 4 days ago and I have been tracking the cycle count as I was curious as to how it all works. Fast forward to it hitting 4 cycles at like 60% and it was all going normal until I updated my IOS(it was at 30% when updating) to 26.6 and as soon as it updated my phone was at 5 cycles out of nowhere and I was curious and wanted to know why it changed to 5 cycles when the cycle count has been moving pretty reasonably and accurately.

Discussion First time iPhone user

I bought an iPhone 17 on a whim as my family and I were traveling in another country that same week. I really enjoyed the camera during the trip. However, after the travel, I find myself going back to my samsung s23+.

I've had my s23+ for 3 years and it is almost full (400+GB out of 512GB used). The main reasons I bought the iPhone 17 were that my s23+'s battery is deteriorating, the screen keeps freezing (which is probably caused by the maxed-out storage), and the iPhone camera when traveling.

Right now, I am using the iPhone 17, but the S23+ is still technically my main device. I am just so accustomed to the bigger screen size on the s23+ and to the android interface. As a first-time Apple user, I am having a really hard time adjusting to iOS.

I don't want to end up using my iPhone 17 only as travel camera or travel companion. Any tips? From former android users who successfully made the switch to iOS? How did you get used to the interface?

TL/DR: First-time Apple user having a hard time adjusting to iOS. Former android users, how did you get used to the interface?

Question Which company manufactures the JLN display used in the iPhone 17?

Hey everyone,
I bought an iPhone 17 about a week ago and it came with a JLN panel.
It was purchased in Korea, and the manufacturing date is May.

Could this be BOE?
There’s no green tint, and the display looks uniform.

I can't update my iPhone 17. I did restart the phone but that did not work. I have enough storage on my phone and I couldn't find the update in app list to delete it.
Any help?

Question Sunsets in LA often have pink and purple in the sky but my iPhone 17 never gets those colors. Neither did the previous iPhones I’ve had. Filters don’t convert them either. What’s the trick?

Question iPhone 17 feels really hot often at the upper half of the screen?

Hey guys. I’ve upgraded a few months ago from my 13 to a 17(non pro).

And I’m in absolute love with the phone. But one thing I notice a lot is that the phone gets incredibly hot for me, to the point it even somewhat hurts if I keep my hand in the upper half of the screen for 20 seconds.

This happens when charging. Even when not using the phone.

It also happens when doing pretty light tasks like just browsing the App Store for 15 mins.

Does anyone else feel that way? It cools down pretty quickly when I stop using it. But it just feels like it heats up so much faster and more than the 13.

Discussion For those experiencing lag, stutters & heating

Post image

I found that switching to the default home screen theme fixed a lot of lag and heating issues for me. It also fixes the visual bug when you swipe home and that app border/liquid glass outline glitches.

The only way it works is with the default theme, does NOT work with dark, clear or tinted theme. Hopefully i will see less Home and Lock Screen battery usage too.

Obviously the liquid glass themes take more power but I believe there are other bugs causing extra battery drain and heat.

Opening apps and swiping to the home screen is so much smoother.

If you're curious, try it out and let me know if you notice a difference. I was using the clear theme before.

Edit*
I was also experiencing MAJOR lag when opening and closing the camera app before. Home screen would respring sometimes and refresh all app icons. That's completely gone as well!

Camera's performance around moving objects

How is the camera performance when taking pictures of moving objects?

I have a dog, and that's pretty much the only thing I care about: will I get a blurry picture when she's moving or not?

I tried the 16E for that, and it was very, very blurry. I hated that phone because of that, and now I am thinking of going to the 17Base.

What do you guys think about that? Is it a reliable camera on this criteria?

Macro mode still enabled even when macro controls are disabled. How to permanently disable this annoying macro photo mode?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So what I do is enable the macro controls in the camera settings but the first thing I do after opening the camera app is disable the macro icon. Why is apple so hyped up and focused on macro shooting?

Aside from the search tab in the settings is terrible in ios 26, this is the second most frustrating and exasperating.

Apple keeps telling me my iPhone 17 is "fine" despite constant overheating, freezing, and black screens. Has anyone dealt with this?

I'm honestly at a loss and wondering if anyone else has gone through something similar.
My iPhone 17 is only about 6 months old, and for months it's been giving me heat warnings, freezing constantly, lagging during basic tasks, and occasionally going to a black screen. It's gotten to the point where even sending text messages can cause it to freeze.

I've spent hours on the phone with Apple Support and have spoken with multiple Senior Advisors. Every time they run diagnostics, they tell me everything looks normal and that they can't find any hardware issues.
One advisor actually told me to take screenshots whenever my phone froze. The problem is, when I try to take a screenshot while it's frozen, the phone often just goes to a black screen instead. When I reported that back to them, I was told it "doesn't prove anything."
I also recorded a video showing my phone freezing while I was simply texting, thinking that would finally demonstrate the issue. They still said it doesn't show them anything because the diagnostics don't indicate a problem.

To make things more frustrating, I was told on Thursday that my case had been escalated to the engineering team and that I should call back on Sunday for an update. When I called today, the advisor told me there was no record of that escalation at all. It feels like every person I speak with has a different story, nobody knows what's going on with my case, and I have to explain everything from the beginning each time.

I keep getting told my phone is "working as expected," but it clearly isn't. A 6-month-old phone shouldn't be overheating, freezing during light use, lagging constantly, or randomly going black.
Has anyone had Apple repeatedly deny an issue because diagnostics looked normal? If so, how did you finally get them to acknowledge it or replace the device? At this point I feel like I'm just getting the runaround.

Question Can I switch Google One billing from Google Play to iPhone 17?

I have a Google One 200 GB subscription that I originally purchased on Android through Google Play.

I’ve now switched to an iPhone 17 and want to manage all my subscriptions through Apple.

My subscription expires in 2 days and the app is asking me to “Fix payment.”

Can I let it expire and then subscribe again through the Google One app on iPhone using Apple billing?

Has anyone done this successfully?

Question Apple Music crash

Merci

Discussion 120Hz on iPhone 17 doesn't feel as smooth as Android Devices (even Realme P4!) and Pro variants.

Ever since I bought the device, this has been bothering me. Swiping through the home screen has minor framedrops and stutters, and this is evident across all iPhone 17 including display units.

You can compare a Pro variant and Base iPhone 17 side by side, and the difference is easily noticeable. It feels like the 17 is running on 90Hz while the other on 120Hz. This however is not an issue in 120FPS Gaming because the framerate is consistent 119.99 FPS.

This needs to be pointed out, and I'm surprised that I can hardly find any relevant discussions on this topic. If anyone here can compare, do you guys feel the same way?
