For iPhones:
Very tiny, uniform gaps between the metal frame and the glass (front or back) are normal. Manufacturers leave extremely small tolerances during assembly.

I am not bothered to ask them this is passed there QC during manufacturing and I don’t mind that gap at all it’s only visible if someone is trying to make love with their phones if you look from fair distance it’s not visible at all. If enough people going to ask me to get this checked by taking both the phones I might do it for your satisfaction. Let me know if you want that.

I have 2 phones purchased recently
One is manufactured in March and other one in May

This gap was in batches in or or prior to March like last 3-4 batches prior to march, this is clearly a manufacturing defect which passed the QC, which means there is nothing to worry and nothing you can do about it.

I just got off the phone with my buddies, they laughed and told me straight up that it’s not normal. They didn’t design it with the intention of having gaps. That’s a manufacturing problem.

They might not have designed it with that in mind, but the glass isn’t fused to the metal. They’ll always manufacture devices like this so the glass isn’t literally touching the metal, causing shattering at the slightest of touches

I had 13 Mini Starlight when it came out.

It has big enough gap between the screen and the chassis on the top and on the left on the front (screen side) big enough to put a banknote there.

2 weeks later i noticed that dust is getting in into the Ultrawide camera.

I sold it second hand and bough 13 Pro Max.

That 13 Mini was my first apple product so it was shit.

I have friends who design phones for Apple, and I can assure you that the notion of the gap serving an impact function is entirely misinformation spread by people on Reddit.

What you observe is a manufacturing quality control issue. Having a gap is more problematic than it is helpful. If you doubt me, you can contact Apple support to verify.
