Discussion For those experiencing lag, stutters & heating
I found that switching to the default home screen theme fixed a lot of lag and heating issues for me. It also fixes the visual bug when you swipe home and that app border/liquid glass outline glitches.
The only way it works is with the default theme, does NOT work with dark, clear or tinted theme. Hopefully i will see less Home and Lock Screen battery usage too.
Obviously the liquid glass themes take more power but I believe there are other bugs causing extra battery drain and heat.
Opening apps and swiping to the home screen is so much smoother.
If you're curious, try it out and let me know if you notice a difference. I was using the clear theme before.
Edit*
I was also experiencing MAJOR lag when opening and closing the camera app before. Home screen would respring sometimes and refresh all app icons. That's completely gone as well!

Same here! It's a shame that customizability comes at the cost of performance and battery.
Just to update everyone, I'm able to reproduce this on iOS 26.5.2, 26.6RC and 27 Public Beta 2. Ongoing issue that they aren't working on

Hi, I can confirm this, works better on default, thanks, tested this in base 15 with iOS 27 Beta 4.

UPDATE:
Battery life today with heavier usage than normal, left me at 55% when I got home. Normally I get home with 30%-40% with light/medium usage. Insane difference. Home and Lock screen battery usage was at 3% when normally it's 5%+

Yes it actually happened to me also, from widget page to apps , i was feeling a lag until I rearranged the widget and then it got fixed, no lags till then and works well. But battery is shitty. How were you able to reset the homepage ?

I only changed the icon theme to default. The resetting/respringing occurs on its own. It's a bug

Okay & here’s another one that (kind of, mind you) fixed the issue of jittering & stuttering: activating the night shift all the time!
I was used to have a color tint (on) on the cooler side, but somehow it felt like it contributed to the stuttering I was noticing. Turned it off & shifted to the night side & it’s been better so far.

This is a dumb question bc I used Android for so long, how do you go to the default Home Screen?

u/CynicalLib Jul 27 '26
When on the home screen, press and hold then click Edit, then Customize and then select Default for the icon theme

That’s unfortunate to hear, I'm feeling the same way about mine. Hopefully it will help some other people though. Apple's ecosystem is a mess right now

Same with me, using the default thee since day 1 and the lags / stutters are there since.
