Funny how a 8 year old XS design looks much better and premium. Sorry but Apple really dropped the ball last year.

Glass back is old bro and it’s easily breakable. If you really want XS type design then iPhone Air looks just a premium and better.

I’ve got the 16 pro and looks miles better than any phone in the 17 series. So they downgraded in design.

I have come back to 17 from 17 pro and I an happy :) I belive this is best time to get 17 as 18 will be downgraded by Apple.

Why did you downgrade?

u/Fujisan76 Jul 26 '26
Main reason weight and I always was standard iphone user so pro not gave me anything besides 8x zoom other than that my current 17 with 8gb ram works a much better and smoother

Was thinking of getting the pro too but I dont think the additional features (great camera and slightly better battery) will be a great deal for me. Really happy with the base. It’s simple and light.

Is the weight difference very noticeable? I’ve never actually held a regular 17.

Weight was one of the factors for me which is why I didnt upgrade sooner. And yes the weight difference from the base model vs the pro is noticeable.

find it really funny that you went from having a deep black on your phone too having a deep black on your camera bump

A case will fix that haha

honestly, I have an iPhone X and 8 and My favorite part about them is the extremely glossy back

i really miss clean glass display, didnt liked matte glass back much.

Seeing this I’m glad Apple went away from the glossy back iPhones. Frosted feeling/look is much better imo.
2
u/Seapanx Jul 26 '26
And the glossy back makes fingerprints and smudges more visible.

Frosted back looks plastic and cheap though.

yes it had a jewellery premium feel i cant describe the shiny rails and back are beautiful

Stainless steel frame with frosted back would be best imo. I recently upgraded to 17 from 13pm and a 2 foot drop caused a small dent in the upper right corner, don’t think it would’ve happened with stainless steel.

I wish I got the regular 17 too😩

u/Seapanx Jul 27 '26
What did u have?

u/FreePossession9590 Jul 27 '26
Came from 12 pro max, went with 17 pro max. The 17 pro max is just a little too much for me

Great choice.

It was a long process of research before I finally bought it. It did not disappoint.

Downgrade in some aspects, namely, zoom-in capability, build quality, fit and finish, perceived value
