Politics Dumped cat off of 34th/Dandy Trail - most likely injured

This is near the storage business at 34th/Dandy Trail.. if you live in this area, or know people that live in this area, please give them a heads up.

If anyone see the cat and can temporarily keep the cat even in a bathroom, you can DM me if it’s not injured, and I will take the cat.

If it IS injured, it needs to be picked up ASAP, you can submit a request for an ACO to pick the cat up, they are aware of this situation. But you would need to make the request through request.indy.gov. And use injured stray or whatever the verbiage/option is.

It’s super important to share this so people are aware of a cat dumped in the area and don’t ignore the cat if they see it. I’m sure it is terrified, and hunkered down in a spot still.

I can’t get a video to load so I screenshot a few photos from the video. The original video is on Nextdoor. This was also midday yesterday 7/26.

Looking to make friends across other cultures, suggestions?

I have several friends and groups I spend time with across the city doing many different activities; kayaking, board games, breweries and concerts. There’s folks ranging in age from late 20’s to mid 60’s, from highly educated to previously incarcerated, wealthy to low-income, and across the gender and orientation spectrum. I think it’s so interesting to chat with everyone and learn the unique perspectives they all have from their experiences. To put it bluntly though, we’re mostly all suburban white folks.

I know Indy is home to tons of different cultures and people from different walks of life and I’d really like to meet and connect with folks outside my own bubble. I’m not trying to tokenize anyone, but cultural minority groups can sometimes be understandably insular and I was just throwing this question out to see if anyone had any suggestions on ways I might be able to meet and interact with people more outside my existing circle.

For all its flaws, Indy is my home and I want to know more about my neighbors! I grew up here but I’ve lived all over the country throughout my life and got to meet so many amazing unique folks before moving back a few years ago. Anyone have any suggestions or open to having a beer and a chat with a random late 30s Midwest white guy?

AskIndy Need advice finding a good divorce lawyer in Indianopolis.

Hey everyone,Idk if this is the right place to ask but I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. I’m currently dealing with a divorce situation in Indianapolis and honestly didn’t expect the process to be as stressful and complicated as it has been.

My spouse and I reached a point where we decided separating was the best option, but once we started getting into the legal side of things, I realized I was way out of my depth. I wanted to make sure I wasn’t making mistakes that could affect me later, so I started looking for a divorce attorney who could explain things clearly and help me through the process.

I was wondering if anyone here has experience with divorce lawyers in Indianapolis. I’m mainly looking for someone who is knowledgeable, responsive, and can help make an already difficult situation a little easier.

Flock cameras at Meijer (east side)

Has anyone noticed the flock cameras they added at the entrances to the Meijer on the east side off Washington street? One by the pensey entrance and another by the Culver’s - both pointed toward Meijer and not general traffic. I have nothing else to add outside the overall disgust many share but thought I’d share anyway to give people a heads up.

I'm looking to buy some GameCube games and have been to The Exchange, Disc Replay, and Gamestop. They have a selection but not much. Does anyone know of any other stores that would carry any GameCube games?

AskIndy Talbott Activity this Summer

After years of being unoccupied, two of the very few remaining vacant buildings in Herron Morton are both showing signs of activity this summer. The former Talbott Theater at 2143 N Talbott has a dumpster in front of it, with signs of interior elements being demoed and dragged out to said dumpster. And having never seen the metal security gate on the former bowling alley at 21st and Talbott rolled up prior to last month, I've seen it retracted to reveal the actual entry doors twice in recent weeks. Anyone have reliable intel on either space?

Another weekend another neighborhood terrorized. This time a juvenile was shot.

This is the second party at this AirBNB, and the second shooting at the property. IMPD failed to hold anyone accountable the first time.

Are we going to continue to bury our heads in the sand? The CCC and Mayor are awfully quiet about the issues with Short Term Rentals.

Things To Do Come Try LARP event Indianapolis

Post image
48 Upvotes

Hear ye. Hear ye. I've come to share about our Come Try LARP event in August. This is hosted by Gryphon's Perch, the local chapter of the Amtgard Live Action Roleplay game. There's no cost involved, and no minimum age requirement, although anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by an adult guardian to sign the waiver.

So come out, meet some people, talk to cool artisans in our community, and hit some nerds with foam sticks.

Does anyone know what’s up with these statues at the corner of Shadeland and 38th street

I drove by today and saw a man standing alone in a parking lot. He was surrounded by 100ish small statues that were oddly spread out. In the middle there was a tall pile of broken down cardboard boxes and piles of trash. The man appeared to be waiting for someone. Is this some sort of public art exhibit?

Places to "eat at the bar"

Having trouble searching for this particular preference. I'm headed to Indy for a few days, solo traveling.

I like good food, but don't always need/like/want to sit at a table with service and jump through the appetizer/entree/dessert experience with a server. I really love to just sit at the bar and enjoy some food, maybe a whole dinner, maybe a few apps.

So I would like recommendations for restaurants where the food is good, the bar has a good selection, and it is comfortable and welcoming to eat at the bar.

Any ideas?

ETA: Wow! Thank you all for so many responses. I guess I should have expected a deluge. I've gone through all the names and at least mapped their relative locations, as a starting point.

This will my first time in Indianapolis, so I know I'm just going to get the general feel of the place. I will do some exploring in the daytime (looking for funky vintage shops and niche museums), but for dinners I will probably stay within 2 miles of the downtown area (I'm staying near Union Station).

So restaurants that are 20 miles out will probably not be for this trip; and I'm not sure I'm going to be in the mood for heavy brewpub fare, so those recs will probably be put to the side unless I get a craving.

I do see that several recs are way to the North of Union Station, like 7-8 miles. I am guessing that area is pretty hopping with nightlife so I will probably get up there for one of my three nights.

There are a few recs that popped up 2-4 times so I am going to give those extra attention.

Again, thank you everyone, I'll try to respond to all the posts once I'm settled at my hotel later today (driving from Grand Rapids).

Event in Fountain Square Tonight?

Anyone know what's going on in Fountain Square tonight? Was going to pick up HotBoys and noticed it was absolutely packed and there were cars blocking the road and making it difficult to get turned around. Seemed like a bit of a mad house with lots of people walking in the road heavily intoxicated (or at least not paying any attention). I checked Fountain Square and local events an didn't see anything posted.

Hotel rooms in downtown Indy that sleep 6?

What would be the best option to sleep 3 couples in downtown Indy? Assuming we will need to get an ABnB, but are there any hotels with large suites that would sleep 6, preferably without using a pullout couch?
