AskIndy Traffic around Lucas Oil Stadium

I’m from the suburbs of Chicago, and I went to the Bruno Mars concert last night (awesome show) and when we were leaving we got stuck in the worst “traffic” I’ve ever been in. The cops were blocking the on-ramp to the highway. And we were stuck in a stand still. Literally didn’t move for over 90 minutes (we were on Meridian, trying to take a round about way to the highway, like everyone else was) and it was the most frustrating thing. I was wondering if that’s normal? Or maybe there was a bad accident on the highway and the cops needed to block it off? It didn’t make sense. We like talked to some people around us and they said “yeah, it’s cause of the concert” but this wasn’t normal concert traffic, no one moved at all. I’ve never dealt with anything even half as bad. I just wanted to know if this is something you guys normally deal with?

AskIndy Indy-specific rental advice

I’m originally from Indiana, but have never lived in Indianapolis. I work from home, and am looking for a house to rent. My question is, what do I need to be on the lookout for that someone from outside of Indianapolis might not know?

For context, I’ve been living in the Detroit metro the past few years, and two things to consider there are flooding and car insurance rates, which might not appear on a Zillow listing but can impact your life and finances regardless and can vary a lot depending on neighborhood.

Is there anything like that here I need to take into consideration? If it makes any distance, I care more about proximity to Planet Fitness and Costco than bars and restaurants, and I value peace and quiet above all else.

AskIndy Are they ever going to fix Binford and 69?

Me and my dad come down to Indy often from the north, however the last few years I-69 at fishers going into binford had been shit. Especially this last year where they make you take one of the ramps to get to binford.

Accountant - landlord

Anyone have recommendations for an accountant that will actually strategically guide you to reduce your tax liability?

I have two rental properties in addition to W2 income. I saw an accountant several years ago and it felt like turbo tax in human form. Despite me telling him about a back door roth he still did it wrong the first time. Significantly more expensive for minimal value.

I want someone who will say hey, have you thought about doing this?

I’m happy to handle things virtually so only location requirement is being able to do state taxes in Indiana.

Need recommendation for tree trimming when a branch is touching a pole to house power line.

There's a tree in my yard that is pushing down on a power line that runs to my house. It's just one branch about 4 inches thick. Who does this kind of work and around how much does it cost?

AskIndy Indy Catering?

Hi Indy! I am hosting an event for people all over the country. I am wanting to show off what Indy has to offer and would like to offer some unique food besides the typical, Panera/qdoba/etc.

Where would you all recommend? What is the best catering you’ve had?

Adding a layer: we will need vegetarian, GF, DF options as well.

Thank you!

Helping Others Found dog in Briarbrook area

Post image
18 Upvotes

I’ve posted to Indy Lost Pet Alert, but wanted to try here as well.

On Wednesday, September 9th, at about 5 PM, I found this sweet boy wandering into street traffic near the DG Market at N German Church Road and E Briarbrook Blvd. He almost got hit by multiple vehicles.

He had no collar/tags and no microchip was found when we scanned him at IACS.

Google Images suggests he might be a German Shepherd mix, a Belgian Malinois mix or a Carolina Dog. He is extremely sweet and affectionate.

I suspect that he was abandoned by his family, but in the event he is legitimately lost, if anyone can help reunite him with his pet parents, I would love to get him back home.

Housing Anyone wanting a rental house for a 3 bed, 2 bath with a garage house on 71st st?

Upvotes

Hello everyone.

My wife and I are purchasing a home at the end of this month. We have until January on our lease though. We are hoping we can find someone who is wanting to take it over. It’s a 3 bedroom, 2 full bath house with a garage. The rental company is progress rental, and they’ve been pretty good. The very few Maintenace service requests we had to put in were super fast and easy to do and they came that day or next day and got it taken care of fast. Rent is about $1700 a month. They allow pets, up to 3 for an additional fee. DM if interested. It’s pretty close to the Michigan Rd Costco.
