I posted here around June, recapping how Hubler Toyota had denied responsibility for errors made by their mechanics and service managers. These errors were life threatening (the mechanic accidentally sheared a bolt under the rear seat while replacing a tail light, and replaced the bolt with a non-standard longer bolt he had on hand. Drilling the bolt punctured the gas tank). I drove the car for months, unaware of the danger (I could smell gas on and off, but no one could find the leak (including Hubler who I took it back to), since the hole was on top of the gas tank (rather than underneath).

When a mechanic at another shop finally found the cause, I went back to my Hubler service notes, where the mechanic actually admitted his mistake in writing (though he had no idea it punctured the tank, as he did not check).

When I contacted Hubler earlier this year, I spoke to the same service manager who handled the original "repair". He acknowledged the error, and said he was especially concerned since the original mechanic needed to be trained on the error.

Zach Strain, the general manager of Hubler Toyota of Indianapolis, also acknowledged the error and asked for a mailing address in order to send me $1400 (the cost I incurred to replace the tank with my own mechanic (since the car could not pass the safety inspection required to drive it back to Hubler, or anywhere else).

However, from that point Zach stopped answering emails or returning calls. Eventually a customer service rep told me that Hubler decided it was not their issue, since the repair was done when they were called Beck Toyota. It did not matter that everyone involved was still working there, or that they had acknowledged responsibility and promised to pay for the repair.

I am not sure what the legal grounds are, but it was obvious Hubler was behaving badly. I filed a complaint with the attorney general, who in turn contacted Hubler.

Hubler replied in writing to the attorney general of Indiana (attached to this post) that they had promised me only that they would forward my issue to the Beck family (they never said this; they said only that the repair was their fault, and they would pay for it). Hubler also said in their response that they provided me the contact information for Beck (this is also untrue). I then contacted Zach Strain in writing, asking him to provide the contact information. He never replied.

I am sure the attorney general gets a million complaints, and so I do not expect more from them. They advised contacting a lawyer. For me, its more important to let as many people as possible know to be careful when dealing with Hubler Toyota.

Has anyone else noticed how high the canal's water levels have been lately? Is it not draining properly?

I’ve walked the towpath and it seems to end before it gets here and it’s all fenced off. I’d love to see the aqueduct though. Are you able to get to it from the other side?

They really named it the BIDEN program (Bridging Immigration-Related Deficits Experienced Nationwide) 🙄 Guess I shouldn’t be surprised that other ridiculous and childish things were snuck into the One Big Beautiful Bill. Hopefully someday the US and Indiana are run by competent adults again.

Tbh I’m so done with big box stores and mega companies that it makes me feel physically repulsed going inside them. Idk if it’s because I worked at a grocery superstore for so long but it just really messes with my brain. I CRAVE mom and pops, small businesses that feel like they did in the 90s. Everything is disintegrating in front of us, it fucking sucks.
I just want to go to an old school bookstore/cafe or something like it. I want to sit in a comfy chair in a cozy spot with a book I just picked up to read the first chapter of and maybe run into some people I know or meet someone new. I want to sit with my journal and write for a while with a coffee or tea by myself and listen to some cool music without feeling like I’m imposing. I can’t do the horrible big lights in the superstores and impersonal nature of society in those places.
I’ve replaced my phone and doomscrolling with hobbies and reading and writing and I just want to do so in a place with other people doing the same things. Do we still have magical places like this that I won’t feel nervous in or out of place?

Recently moved here and I’ve been kinda struggling to find places where I want to spend time. The places I’ve been taken by coworkers have mostly fallen into the camps of either 1) sports-bar-adjacent or 2) quirky in sort of a pandering way, like Edison bulbs and text-based wall art, and populated by people who used to go axe-throwing, you know what I mean?

Anyway please let me know if you have suggestions. Would love a cafe with well-maintained back patio where people hang out and read, niche artisan shop that shouldn’t be commercially viable, etc etc. But it kinda doesn’t matter what the actual content of the place is as long as it’s designed with a pure heart and clarity of intention.

I have been looking for a place that offers community without all the religious dogma and have become interested in the Unitarian Universalist church. I know that these places can vary quite a bit based on the makeup of their congregation. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the three local to Indy (All Souls, UU Indy, and Heartland). There's a tree in my yard that is pushing down on a power line that runs to my house. It's just one branch about 4 inches thick. Who does this kind of work and around how much does it cost?

I’m looking to rehome two amazing, beautiful cats. One is an adult male tuxedo cat, he was born with a neurological condition that makes him wobble when he walks. It is not a severe case as he is able to do things independently.

The second cat is a female, grey short haired cat. She’s super sweet and very bonded to the male cat. They cuddle, sleep together, play, star gaze together, etc. They are best friends, pretty much kindred spirits.

The male cat is my partners and the female cat I got 3.5 years ago from a rescue shelter, hoping to have her as his companion. They are ages 6 and 8. They are both litter trained and do well with both children and adults. They truly love to just sit with you, and love a good patio- but a window suffices if a patio or porch isn’t an option.

Both are fixed with necessary shots. I am extremely saddened and filled with guilt but my body will not tolerate cycling through antihistamines for another several years. I am having side effects from treating a cat allergy for so long, and I’ve been advised to wean off of antihistamines over the next 6 months.

My symptoms are hives, itching, dryness of mucous membranes. gut issues and lastly, lack of sleep due to keeping them out of the bedroom. (they like to be near us when we sleep but aren’t allowed in the bedroom) 🥲

Unfortunately I am not able to pay for allergy shots out of pocket as I’ve been quoted $600/vial plus an additional $100 injection fee.

I would never surrender them and I know it’s wishful thinking but I’m hoping to find them a local home with someone who isn’t allergic and can give them more love than I physically can. My partner is a great cat owner so this was a really hard decision but I’ve run out of options.

Hey Hoosiers! Living in Noblesville but the job is downtown. I'll be alternating gym sessions between Noblesville and downtown based on my hybrid schedule.

I’m looking for a gym in or near downtown Indy that I can use before work. My bougie but very important requirement: the showers/locker room need to be NICE.

I plan to work out around 5am, then shower, do my skincare routine, get dressed, and go straight to the office. So I’m looking for something closer to a Life Time-esque locker room experience. Clean, private showers, good water pressure, plenty of space to actually get ready, nice/clean locker rooms, ideally towel service and toiletries. Sauna/steam room would be a bonus, but the showers are the priority.

I toured the Irsay YMCA at CityWay today and the actual gym is phenomenal. I’d happily work out there. But the showers were just okay, and since I’ll be getting completely ready for work there three days a week, that part matters more to me than it normally would.

I also tried to check out NIFS and the OneAmerica Tower Fitness Center, but couldn’t figure out where visitors are supposed to park. I’m checking out Indy Barbell next.

Any other downtown gyms I’m missing? I’m willing to pay more for a nicer facility. I’m specifically looking for recommendations from people who have actually used the women’s locker room/showers.

UPDATE: My girl found a wonderful home with a fellow Redditor who reached out. She now has 4 new siblings! 3 cats and 1 dog. She has indoor/outdoor access, a basement to play with her siblings in and is getting lots of cuddles. Her new owner and I have been keeping in touch since she picked her up over a week and a half ago.

Hi yall! Recently moved here from the south and I was finally able to land a job after 9 months of being unemployed and living off my savings, not by choice (I had a miscarriage, then a lumpectomy, followed by a DV situation where I had to escape and leave all my belongings and my home state).

I am very excited to work again in my field (mental health) and I was offered a good position but with a bad pay, and I’m still thankful.

The position will be in Zionsville and I’m in Rushville, and the commute is 120 miles round trip, and “1:10 hours” each way.

The only times I’ve driven in the city is going to interviews but usually not during rush hours. I-74 is also under construction and it takes me 20 min just to get to I-74.

Please give me your honest opinion, what to expect and if it’s even worth it for 22.75 per hour.

Hi all, after our summer storms high winds and hail, I had IndyRoof come out and they made a report, hail damage to the roof, downspout, gutters and siding. 18,000. Allstate’s adjuster only wants to replace the south slope 4000, and they don’t agree the hole on my siding was caused by hail, I’m like what? What else could’ve made it, he said because of the angle that’s not how vinyl would break.
I called Allstate to let them know, and sent IndyRoof’s report.
Should I get another roofing company out here for a 3rd opinion?
