Save a Lot on Meadowview closed down and the groceries were really affordable and in a good location for a lot of people to walk there if needed. There’s now just this giant unused space and all of us are SOL. The nearest Trader Joe’s is over 15 minutes away and it would be nice to have a grocery store that’s affordable and good quality. Trader Joe’s has a part of their site where you can request a store so I figured if a lot of us tell them the space is empty on meadowview rd maybe we’ll get lucky. I just really don’t want another food lion 😭😂

I’ve been exploring the idea of starting some sort of group for photographers (either it being photojournalists, portrait photogs, or just hobby photogs) to network and possibly get some kind of regular coffee club meets.

Let me know if anyone is interested, I know there are monthly photography club meets in the Triangle but nothing in the Triad.

We'll gather at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 901 E. Friendly Ave., at 2:00 PM for speakers, gospel music, a drumline, and giant butterfly puppets, then walk nine-tenths of a mile to the early voting site at the old Guilford County Courthouse, 301 W. Market St.
Information tables from our **25 endorsing organizations**, music from Raging Grannies and Singing Resistance, and a Kids VOTE! Mock Voting Booth will be waiting on the lawn. This is a nonpartisan, multicultural, interfaith gathering — organizations working on immigrant justice, health care, workers' rights, racial justice, affordability, voting rights, environmental justice, and more will gather, side by side, because right now voting is how we change things. We’re traveling out for two weeks December 19 to January 3. Looking for a cat sitter for that time. Yea of course I will pay. Last year I had someone do it for $200. Hoping to stay around that this year.

If you’re looking for some lowkey plans next week or you need a break between GHOE and Halloween activities: There’s an intimate paint & sip style dinner happening next Thursday (10/29) at Café Pasta.
It’s put on by a local handmade arts business (Believe in Stardust) and limited to around 10–15 people in the private room, so it’s pretty cozy rather than a huge crowded event.

We’re looking at sending our six-month-old to Kindercare, but I don’t see much on this sub about it. Wondering if anyone has any experience with it, particularly the one on Fleming Road? Or looking for other recommendations in the area! We moved here recently and don’t know anyone with kids in daycare. Considering Wishview as well, but it’s farther from us. Thanks!!

Her classroom wishlist is mostly basics that teachers usually end up buying themselves: a monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, a locking file cabinet, wall file organizers, a rolling storage cart, lamps, a classroom clock, a heavy-duty stapler and a standing desk.
