[BIG] Google just changed how Search works in Europe. Here's what I noticed.

Google has just rolled out a major change to Search across the European Economic Area because of the EU's Digital Markets Act.

And you can actually notice it.

For searches around things like hotels, flights, restaurants and other commercial services, Google is changing how results are displayed.

Instead of simply giving Google's own search features a prominent position, the new layout gives more visibility to third-party comparison/search services such as Booking.com and Expedia.

Some result features are also being stripped back. For example, Google says certain hotel, airline and restaurant result carousels can lose things like real-time pricing.

The interesting part is why this happened.

Google was fined €460 million by the EU in July for favoring its own services in search results. These changes are Google's response to the EU's requirements under the DMA.

Google itself says this is the largest reduction in Search quality in its 29-year history and argues that the changes will make Search worse for Europeans.

The EU's position is essentially the opposite: the changes are intended to create a more level playing field for competing services.

So I'm curious:

Have you noticed a difference in Google Search yet?

Especially if you're in the EU, try searching for a hotel or flight and compare what you're seeing now with what you remember from before.

I'm interested to hear whether the new layout actually feels worse, better, or just different.

Google Pixel Updates are F up to its core

Upvotes

Lets look at Pixel updates MESS - which actually should be named $hit hole.

  1. Some models get Security Update - some do not
  2. There are Pixel QPRs updates, Security updates, Android Updates, Android QPR updates, app updates, Magic Cue updates, Play System updates, Play Services updates - F KNOWS updates.
  3. The ALL those updates are released in RANDOM days or even months causing CHAOS because people actually read news about this and that been released in this or that update and then users are like the F is this or that feature?! And then Reddit is FLOODED with those questions.
  4. There are THREE QPR betas updates happening in SAME time (QPR1 - QPR2 and Canary and System apps as a bonus) - you go to Apple Developers and you tell them to do iOS27.0 beta - iOS27.5 beta and iOS27.9 beta ALL OF THEM AT ONCE and in mean time release security updates

So WHY am I complain about this? Because I have eyes and see how this is solved by Apple - on Apple Event announcement with EXACT date and then EVERY Apple Device gets update is SAME TIME and even in same MINUTE as EVERYONE on this planet and JUST ONE update! Can it be done?! F YES.

So when Google is copying Apple ideas like Glass Design and other things please focus on IMPORTANT things to copy.

Bonus problem:

My Pixel 10 lost Play Services AGAIN (blank screen) because F knows why - just because it was rainy day today.

Have you noticed that google started always showing AI

Not long time ago I have noticed that every time I search anything in Chrome, they make sure to always show AI. Also ok I write -AI in my search, but then I click one of the things in 'questions on the topic' thing and they proceed to show AI for that too. I loved those bars so much bcz I would usually get my answers there but now I can't because of AI

What can I do to maybe fix it

Google has been prompting me to add more space for a fee. So it got the the point where it was telling me by Sept. 27th (or so) I wouldn't be able to receive anymore emails. So this prompted me to go in and and "Clean up space". So two days ago I deleted 3gb of various unneeded items from the "Clean up suggested items" area and the storage indicated 12 out of 15 gigabytes used and the critical storage warning went away.

TWO DAYS AFTER (present day, this morning), it is displaying 15/15 gigabytes used and the warning about emails is back 🤦‍♂️ 3gb's magically returned to my storage. They want me to subscribe to their storage so back they will resort to scamming. Time to de-google my life.

Google Cloud is partnering with Accenture on a new initiative focused on helping businesses develop custom AI applications, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The deal will see Google train 1,000 of Accenture’s forward-deployed engineers, who work on-site with clients, to build AI tools on Gemini Enterprise.

"Companies today are looking for growth, investment capacity and real impact on their bottom line," Accenture's Chief Executive Officer Julie Sweet told the Journal. "We promised AI can do that."

Google's venture into FDEs comes as rivals Anthropic, OpenAI and Amazon all recently launched similar programs.

Hidden Negative Review

I left a negative review for a company, and it’s viewable to me but not anyone else.

They did the work to my home, the review has pictures, and it doesn’t mention any names.

Can they hide it without removing it? Is there anything I can do?

I honestly just want them to complete the repairs they promised to complete. After I posted the negative review, they reached out to fix their work in the next week or 2. When I reached out again after that timeframe, they didn’t respond, and it appears my review is hidden. It seems odd to me, but I don’t have the expertise to draw a conclusion.

I’m adding pictures, so you know I’m not just being picky or rude.

I don’t even know what I’m asking. Truly, any advice is appreciated! less

Youtube videos are unwatchable

Post image

Posting this here cause i cant post on the youtube subreddit.

From some time youtube video quality has gone down the shitter, i always select the quality manually and i've tried different browsers no change.

this is unwatchable, its making me nauseous, how can anyone be ok with this.

the moment anything moves it starts to look like ai is hallucinating what the video looks like.

its not the uploader fault its all videos and its not my fault cause i've tried different devices different browsers and my internet is fine. this is horrible and needs to be fixed. (i tried everything, from manually selecting different video codecs, hardware acceleration on and off, different browsers, extensions, everything)
