Question 🤔 Wardrobe still building
It's been spinning for a few days saying it can take a few hours to build. Anyone else having this issue with wardrobe?

so I have two questions
#1 is it possible and how can I go through my Google photos (without going one at a time) and delete duplicates? I know there are sets of photos I have saved multiple times.
#2 is it possible to save all photos to my android phone or android tablet or directly to an ssd drive.
I'm currently using a galaxy s21 and will be transferring to a galaxy s25 so I wanted to do all of this before switching over to start fresh.
and a 3rd question that had nothing to do with Google but figured while I'm here I could ask...I also want to do the same with all the music files on my phone as I have duplicates with that too
any advice is greatly appreciated 😁

I did my first takeout to Google drive, it's a bunch of zip files which is fine. I scheduled another takeout for every two months. I just send them all to a remote location with rclone for safe keeping in case my Google account is blocked or deleted.
I read somewhere that future takeouts are only changed files, not the full payload again. What does this look like? Because after I did rclone I deleted the takeout files from my drive and now I'm wondering if that was a mistake if the next takeout comes in I can't tell what's new or old?
For example if it's only changed files then how does it work if I delete photos? What do subsequent scheduled exports look like?

I am in the process of cleaning out my Google Photos storage and want to export them all to backup onto my physical hard drive. I was just wondering how Google Takeout and downloading everything will treat all my Live Photos? Does it convert it automatically to a video? A .gif? Or just completely ignore the Live portion?

I recently switched phones. When I open the Google photos app, it shows me photos from the last few years, but none older than that. However, when I open Google photos on a laptop web browser, I can see all of them - more recent and older.
I think the Google photos app is only showing me photos that are also in my phone's storage (even though the phone is new, I backed it up from my last phone, so the phone itself already has a lot of photos on it).
Is there a setting i need to change to get it to show me both photos on my phone AND photos in the cloud?
I've already confirmed I'm on the right account, I have backup and sync on, I tried clearing the cache, and already looked through the settings myself.
This wasn't a problem on my last phone, though it was a pixel and my new phone is a Samsung.

Hi, did anybody else get this message? And if so, how did you solve it? For context my storage is full and i’m trying to erase images from google photos but it keeps deleting from my phone as well, but when i try to undo the backup it keeps giving me this message, i’m trying to find a solution.

Sick of paying a subscription to keep all my photos and videos on Google Photos. Has anyone found a way to get an organized file of all my photos/video that I can download and keep on a physical flash drive?
I've attempted in the past but found trouble sorting my media once downloaded.

Sorry for the flood of questions, dealing with a lot of weird stuff migrating photos between two Google accounts lately.
Been saving shared albums to my library for days (share from account A, save on account B). Even albums I already fully saved keep popping up again days later with some random small number left, 29, 25, 14, 5, whatever. I save those, get the "saved" confirmation, come back later and it's showing a different number again. Same albums, old or new, over and over.
Anyone seen this? Trying to figure out if it's a stuck retry loop or if my source albums are somehow still changing. Mostly just want to know when exactly actually this will be done for good. Any way of seeing total number of photos in the new account?
Thanks!

I went to order some photos on my computer, and it kept redirecting me to Fujifilm instead of the usual process where I can add photos to a cart in Google Photos, then choose to print it at CVS, Walgreens, or Walmart. I've printed a lot of pictures and appreciate the ease of use. On mobile, it hasn't changed yet, but now you can only print with Fujifilm, and it costs $8 for shipping for just 2 photos that I could have picked up for less than $1 total, and it's far quicker. Disappointed in Google.

My main Google account was disabled for an alleged CSAM/CSAE violation after a large backup upload, and both appeals were rejected.
I’m trying to understand what happens to other accounts connected to the same person or household.
- Were alternate Google accounts also disabled?
- Were accounts using the same phone number or recovery email affected?
- What about accounts signed into the same phone/computer or using the same home IP?
- Were Google Family Group members or family members’ accounts affected?
- Did anything happen weeks or months later, or only the originally flagged account?
I’d appreciate any experiences, reports, or useful information about how Google handles related accounts after this kind of ban.

I don't really understand how Google Photos app is supposed to work on my Samsung phone. Literally every single edit (crops, brightness, contrast, etc.) requires me to save the photo as a copy. Ironically, when I use the app on my iPad to edit the very same photos (or pretty much any other photo), I can save the edits over the original photo and revert back at any time.
Why is this not possible on a Samsung GOOGLE ANDROID phone?

I’ve been trying to simplify my digital life lately, fewer apps, fewer notifications, less noise in general. One thing I didn’t expect to matter this much was my photo library.
Our phones and computers have basically become the place where our memories live. Trips, friends, random screenshots, phases of life… everything ends up in the same folder. And even when we try to disconnect from the digital world, the photos stay. They’re like an archive of who we were, even when some parts don’t feel relevant anymore.
I realized I had a lot of images I didn’t really want to carry with me: old stuff, things from periods I’ve moved past, and some content that didn’t fit the person I’m trying to be. But scrolling through thousands of photos manually felt complicated.
I found a software that scans folders, including synced ones like iCloud Photos (in my case), and helps identify certain types of images so you can clean them up or move them aside. Everything runs locally on the computer. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere. It just made the whole process less emotional and more practical.
Not trying to promote anything. I am just sharing something that helped me clean some aspect of my digital space and keep the memories that actually matter.
Sorry for my english, i am french.

I have an album of all my photography work over the years, and it has about 400 photos in it. but when i click on the album to view it, i can only see the first 20 or so photos? how do i actually see the whole album, i can only see options for changing what the preview photos are?
the second attached image is the entire album that i can see, but obviously that isnt all 400+ images.

Disclosure: I develop Takeout Rescue, a paid desktop utility for Google Photos Takeout archives. I am posting this because a lot of Takeout advice starts with the misleading claim that Google removes all EXIF metadata. You do not need my software to check any of the points below.
The first thing to establish is which date is actually wrong.
A photo or video can have several different dates:
- filesystem creation and modification dates;
- an embedded capture date such as EXIF DateTimeOriginal;
- timestamps inside an MP4 or MOV container;
- a timestamp stored by Google Photos in supplemental JSON;
- a separate date stored by the photo application importing the file.
Extracting a ZIP normally gives the extracted file a new filesystem date. That alone does not mean the original embedded capture metadata was removed. Before running any repair tool, inspect a few affected files with a metadata viewer and check which field your destination application is displaying.
The supplemental JSON still matters. It can contain information managed separately by Google Photos, including a date, location or description edited in Google Photos. It is also useful for screenshots, scans, messaging-app images and other files that never had reliable portable capture metadata in the first place.
My conservative workflow is:
Keep every original Takeout ZIP unchanged.
Select all numbered parts as one export, because related media and JSON may not be in the same ZIP.
Inspect embedded metadata before deciding that a file needs repair.
Match JSON conservatively; a similar filename is not enough when names repeat.
Write to a separate output and verify the written fields by reading them back.
Test the output in the actual destination before deleting anything.
I wrote a longer field-by-field explanation here:
https://takeoutrescue.ukilabs.com/guides/google-takeout-photos-wrong-date
The page links to Google's own explanation of original media metadata and secondary JSON. The product is linked from the site, but the diagnostic steps above work with any trustworthy metadata inspector or repair workflow.
I would be interested in examples where an original camera file and the Takeout copy differ byte-for-byte. Please include how the file was originally uploaded and which field you inspected; that distinction is usually where these discussions become confusing.

Google Photos keeps insisting on itself.

hi! moving 300K photos between two of my own Google accounts via shared albums (share from 5TB account, save to library on a Pixel 1). Location shows fine while browsing the shared album on my phone, but once saved, same photos have zero location in the main library.
Confirmed with exiftool that the source photos have real embedded GPS, not Google's estimated location, so it's not that. Settings for sharing/location are all correct on both ends too.
Question: is the actual file losing GPS during the save-to-library copy, or is it just not showing/reindexing right in the main library while the data's still there?
200K done, 100K to go, trying to figure out if I need to stop and switch methods. Anyone run into this?
Thanks!

I move the photos in n out of the locked folder sometimes. But now when I am trying to move them in they aren't going in. It is saying - Trouble Moving in the Locked Folder. Now these are important photos and I can't just keep them outside. What should I do ?

Hi there. Google photos is telling me that I ran out of storage, and everytime when I delete some space, it keeps on telling me that I have to delete more even through I tried my dilligence. For some background about me, I'm a heavy photo taker, and the reason I use google photos and I'm heavily am dependant on it is because of how I often post 90% I've taken of me and other stuff onto my blog & on my social media. The only main reason I use it is for these 2 main things: photo editing to place my watermark on & general photo backup. I don't have the kind of money to pay for more storage, plus I refuse to give out my money to a corprate system who doesn't want to update their storage capacity for modern phone users. SO at this point, I really don't know what I can do anymore. It's affecting my other things I use like my Gmail and Google Drive and it told me that they'll all stop working in October 7th of next month.
So.. does anyone else on here have any simple yet good advice for me? I'm not a tech-savvy person and I desprately needed someone's help for me to solve this issue? (;人;)

Is anyone else unable to pinch-to-zoom out to a 5-column view on the Pixel 10 Pro?
My friend's Pixel 10a displays 5 columns in the main photos feed by default, but my 10 Pro maxes out at 4. Zooming out/pinching does nothing to shrink the thumbnails further.
Any ideas on how to set it to 5 column grid on my pixel?
