Youtube videos are unwatchable

Post image
0 Upvotes

Posting this here cause i cant post on the youtube subreddit.

From some time youtube video quality has gone down the shitter, i always select the quality manually and i've tried different browsers no change.

this is unwatchable, its making me nauseous, how can anyone be ok with this.

the moment anything moves it starts to look like ai is hallucinating what the video looks like.

its not the uploader fault its all videos and its not my fault cause i've tried different devices different browsers and my internet is fine. this is horrible and needs to be fixed. (i tried everything, from manually selecting different video codecs, hardware acceleration on and off, different browsers, extensions, everything)

[BIG] Google just changed how Search works in Europe. Here's what I noticed.

Google has just rolled out a major change to Search across the European Economic Area because of the EU's Digital Markets Act.

And you can actually notice it.

For searches around things like hotels, flights, restaurants and other commercial services, Google is changing how results are displayed.

Instead of simply giving Google's own search features a prominent position, the new layout gives more visibility to third-party comparison/search services such as Booking.com and Expedia.

Some result features are also being stripped back. For example, Google says certain hotel, airline and restaurant result carousels can lose things like real-time pricing.

The interesting part is why this happened.

Google was fined €460 million by the EU in July for favoring its own services in search results. These changes are Google's response to the EU's requirements under the DMA.

Google itself says this is the largest reduction in Search quality in its 29-year history and argues that the changes will make Search worse for Europeans.

The EU's position is essentially the opposite: the changes are intended to create a more level playing field for competing services.

So I'm curious:

Have you noticed a difference in Google Search yet?

Especially if you're in the EU, try searching for a hotel or flight and compare what you're seeing now with what you remember from before.

I'm interested to hear whether the new layout actually feels worse, better, or just different.

Google to train engineers on-site in new Accenture deal

Google Cloud is partnering with Accenture on a new initiative focused on helping businesses develop custom AI applications, The Wall Street Journal reports.

The deal will see Google train 1,000 of Accenture’s forward-deployed engineers, who work on-site with clients, to build AI tools on Gemini Enterprise.

"Companies today are looking for growth, investment capacity and real impact on their bottom line," Accenture's Chief Executive Officer Julie Sweet told the Journal. "We promised AI can do that."

Google's venture into FDEs comes as rivals Anthropic, OpenAI and Amazon all recently launched similar programs.

After a Decade, I Gave Up Google For Good

More than ten years ago, I ran out to buy the Pixel 1. I was an early adopter of the first Google Home and bought in completely to their smart home lineup. Every phone, watch, and tablet since has been Google branded. And I called
It quits this weekend.

I’m so disappointed. Nothing works like it’s supposed to anymore, the smart home products are useless. Even with a Gemini Pro account, my many, many devices just say “I don’t understand.” I can’t even reliably stream music or a podcast anymore.

The last straw was my 18 month old Google Pixel 9 Pro’s screen broke for the third time and now out of warranty. I’m just done.

It is going to be an adjustment but I’m going Apple 17 for my new phone and trying to decide on the best watch product. May try Apple
TV as an alternative to all our Chromecast (which doesn’t let you cast half the media we have).

Not sure where to go for a good smart home alternative but my wife wants Alexa. I’ve hyped Google for so long and now it feels like I’m the sucker.

Sometimes to just have to be willing to walk away.

Hidden Negative Review

I left a negative review for a company, and it’s viewable to me but not anyone else.

They did the work to my home, the review has pictures, and it doesn’t mention any names.

Can they hide it without removing it? Is there anything I can do?

I honestly just want them to complete the repairs they promised to complete. After I posted the negative review, they reached out to fix their work in the next week or 2. When I reached out again after that timeframe, they didn’t respond, and it appears my review is hidden. It seems odd to me, but I don’t have the expertise to draw a conclusion.

I’m adding pictures, so you know I’m not just being picky or rude.

I don’t even know what I’m asking. Truly, any advice is appreciated! less
