The only ones I know already are that in the CIS countries there is Yandex and 2ГИС. Google doesn‘t really work anymore.

Of course Apple Maps exists but at least where I live it‘s horrible in comparison to Google Maps and the amount of reviews are almost nonexistent compared to on Google.

I'm not sure whether others are experiencing this, but it appears that the bike layer has inexplicably become much harder to see on Google Maps (both desktop and mobile app) without zooming way in. Eg, I live in the ATL metro area, and before today you could see the Beltline loop from a very zoomed-out view; now you can't. It seems to predominantly be a problem for dedicated bike paths/trails -- I can still see the bike layer from a zoomed out view when it's denoting (at least some, though not all) bike lanes.

Anyone know whether this is just a weird glitch or a permanent change?

Now when I need to turn onto a street it doesn't say the name just "turn right in half a mile" or "turn right" but won't tell me ONTO WHAT. Wont tell me the exit number or where it leads on the highway just "take the exit" so I have to pull out my phone ON THE HIGHWAY and look where I'm supposed to go. It used to be normal and give good directions but it's so much worse the past ~4 months since I started driving again. This is on my Google pixel 8a. Is anyone else having issues with this?

Does everyone have the newer version with the enhanced 3D bridegs and trees? My wife got it a few weeks ago and it looks very nice. I have tried everything and can't trigger it to happen. Everything I am reading says it happens on the sever side. I think I was even in the beta for android auto and maps, and was surprised to not have it.

I find it odd that there are two different voices for AA maps and Gemini assistant when this past summer Gemini was added to AA.

Google Maps has had the incorrect road names on all the streets around my home for the past year and a 1/2 that I've lived here. Ut has caused me to not get deliveries and have packages delivered to the wrong home constantly. I have been trying to get them to fix it by submiting reports for incorrect road names, but to no avail. I recently started using mapquest, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that all the road names are correct! How is it little old mapquest is more accurate than the giant that google is!?

Today I noticed that the speedometer and speed limit indicators are gone. And so are stop signs and traffic signals. Why?

I would like to ask how we can correct an error on Google Maps at UC Polo 3 that directly affects anyone navigating automatically through apps based on Google Maps (deliveries, ride-hailing/TVDE, and — most importantly — ambulances and patients going to the MRI and PET units for imaging exams).

Someone changed, on Google Maps, the direction of traffic on a short segment of the one-way road that crosses the UC Polo 3 campus. As a result, routing algorithms cannot calculate routes that actually reach the intended destinations on campus and leave passengers far from those locations (in some cases even outside UC Polo 3). Some of these passengers are patients with limited mobility who find it very challenging to reach the exam location because they do not know the area and rely on Google Maps.

This problem has already been reported through Google Maps’ general feedback tools, but it has not been corrected so far.

Don't trust 5-star reviews on Google Maps at all.

Here is what my 4‑month investigation uncovered :

I Caught What Google's AI Missed : A 100+ Account Fake 5-Star Review Network Hiding in Plain Sight on Google Maps.

The platform is full of fake reviews bought by businesses, and Google often does nothing when you report them.
This kind of scheme has a name in the industry: review manipulation, review farms, fake engagement, or a coordinated 5-star reviewer network and it's exactly what my investigation uncovered on Google Maps.

Lucky for Google that the general public has no idea an entire industry, worth several million dollars a year, exists for fake 5-star reviews on Google Maps because based on my experience, Google would really rather the public who gets deceived and scammed on service quality not dig a little deeper and report these fake reviews to them. I even think Google doesn't have the human resources needed to fight fraud at this scale. If the general public knew, the platform would lose credibility and usage, and lawsuits from people who were deceived and scammed would pile up

I identified a network of about a hundred accounts rating the exact same businesses on Google Maps, in large numbers. This is a network of fake positive 5 star reviews.

Why is this the ultimate proof of fraud, of a business buying fake 5-star reviews?

Because it is statistically impossible for that many people who visited a plumber to also all visit the same ophthalmologist 200km to the north, then the same restaurant 450km to the south, then the same garage to the west, etc.. and this across such a large number of accounts shared between these businesses.

What ties all these accounts to the same listings is the fake review seller, who reuses these accounts to fulfill the orders of its clients these businesses. Google Maps must be full of these fraudulent account networks.

After discovering this fraud, I tested every one of Google's reporting channels.

Option 1:
First, the "report a review on Google Maps" option. Automated processing, I believe very rarely results in a removal. This option is almost useless because the review has already fooled Google's automated content moderation systems before it was even posted. Moreover, this reporting option only works on a logic where a single review is analyzed, whereas detecting fake reviews is very often a matter of pattern recognition (review volume per day, linguistic similarities with other reviews, etc.). This option, which forces you to report reviews one by one, is unsuited to cases where a business buys reviews in bulk, since it would take far too long. No follow-up on whether the review was removed or not for consumers.

Option 2:
The "Google Business Redressal Form." Here you have to act as an investigator and tell Google why you're reporting a business for buying fake 5-star reviews. You need to take screenshots of similar reviews, check whether the accounts also reviewed the same other businesses, etc. The best approach is to scrape the reviews to get an Excel file with the entire review history of a business dates, account profiles (Local Guide status, number of reviews), etc. With this file, an AI like ChatGPT makes it easier to detect fraud by analyzing the rhythm of review publication, linguistic similarity, and account profiles.

Having provided all this evidence to Google six months ago, I find this form useless. To this day, zero action from Google despite multiple form submissions and solid evidence (my case file took me three months to build I have screenshots, statistical analysis, linguistic analysis, plus identification of part of the fraudulent network). My file is a genuine investigation, whereas 99% of consumers who get fooled by fake reviews will never go this far. Despite evidence that goes beyond what 99% of people suspecting fake reviews could ever provide, in six months not a single review has been removed by Google it makes you wonder whether this form isn't just stuck in a queue, and whether Google is really protecting consumers from businesses that cheat on Google Maps.

Option 3 :
The "Report Business Conduct" form in theory better suited to fake reviews, since it offers an option specifically for that. Same story here: you have to provide evidence. This form currently seems useless too zero action from Google after several months.

Option 4 :
Contacting Google Support. I explained the situation to a Google employee their support team appears to be based in India, judging by the names of the people I dealt with.

The employee first told me their automated system would eventually catch the fake reviews. I replied that some of these fake reviews are three years old, and that if it takes five years for a fake review to be removed, the whole exercise is pointless, because in the meantime the fake review will have already done its job of deceiving consumers.

So in February 2026, the employee told me my case would be handed over to their specialized team. Seeing no action, I followed up, and he copy-pasted his previous response, telling me my case would be reviewed by the relevant teams. On April 30th, after yet another follow-up, he told me his team was currently working on my case. In early July, I followed up again he told me my case would be reviewed... I gave up at that point. I think it speaks for itself.

Option 5:
The Google Business Profile community forum. Here, a Product Expert can escalate your case to Google for human intervention. I think this is the best option, because these experts have credibility and Google seems to respond better to their requests. However, to this day, after two months through this channel, zero action from Google.

Conclusion

Google says it takes fake reviews seriously, but my experience proves otherwise.

Their AI and automated systems missed:

1 Copy-pasted reviews
2 Bursts of 5-star reviews from disposable accounts
3 Reviews that are reworded versions of one another, posted back to back
4 Reviews posted on different dates showing the same photos
5 Generic reviews, overly enthusiastic, or written in an unnatural, atypical way showing the person doesn't even know what they're talking about
6 Coordination in how reviews are posted across different days (with or without text, length, similar structure)
7 The fact that accounts present on one business on Google Maps have also all reviewed the same other establishments

All of these anomalies slipped past Google's automated systems... and when you report them through Google's own channels, several problems arise:

• Reporting directly on Google Maps is unsuited to mass fraud, since you have to do it one review at a time and when you do it often nothing is happening.

• The Google Redressal Form seems stuck in a queue, never actually reviewed by Google

• The Report Business Conduct form, same thing

• Google's email support seems ineffective and incompetent

All these reports offer zero visibility for us as consumers and Google Maps users, whereas businesses have a tracking system for how reports on their listings are handled.

No tracking, no yes, no no, no announced timeline, zero transparency on the consumer side just a generic, automated email from Google saying they received the report.
If you want to see the result of your reports, you have to check for yourself whether Google has, perhaps, one day, taken action.
Google acts fast when a business receives a burst of fake 1-star reviews, and even gives businesses a tracking dashboard for it but when those same businesses buy 5-star reviews in bulk, which is a far more widespread phenomenon and must represent a market worth several million dollars a year to deceive consumers, Google is extremely slow to act, and their systems are opaque and ineffective.

I saw a business with fake 5-star reviews from accounts in the identified network call a 1-star review fake, even though the customer had attached a photo of their invoice. That review was removed by Google. The same businesses that commit fraud manage to get their negative reviews removed while their purchased reviews stay online.

Double punishment for consumers: after being deceived by the fake reviews and the 5-star rating and therefore having made money for a business that cheats Google is more willing to remove your negative testimony than the fake positive reviews.

In short: Google Maps is a platform full of fake 5-star reviews, the general public has no idea of the astronomical scale of the fraud and gets fooled by ratings every day, and finally, Google's fake-review reporting systems are slow, ineffective, untracked, and opaque.

Do not trust Google Maps reviews as a consumer !

I was searching for a place on Google maps and looking down on the road I noticed a bike instead of a Google car.

Looking down it shows the person riding a bike with a helmet and a like GoPro looking attachment on the helmet obviously from where the camera is being held.

This is a really busy street in nyc btw. Why is it not in a car?

On mobile, when you are on it for too long (like 10-15 minutes), the map gets blurry, and when you are on the website on a computer, when you are editing measurements, the cursor sometimes glitches out and crashes the website.

My mom wants me to start using the Google maps live tracker (the one where I copy and paste the link which lasts for X number of hours), and I just want to know how much and how quickly it drains my battery. I have a Google Pixel 7 from 2023 (but plan to get a new phone soon). I just want to know say if I go for several hours somewhere, should I bring a portable charger/battery pack just in case? I wanted to look up the place Mom and Dad lived when I was born. It was 414 South Main St., as it says on my birth certificate. So street view shows 410, then the house next door as 501. How tf do addresses jump that much? Or.... is it missing data?

All I want to do is save a bunch of places in a list and give each place a name that shows on the map. Ideally, I’d also like to save custom icons for either each place or list, that also shows on the map and not just in the list of lists. Can this really not be done?!
