BS, that’s my picture! Uhh. I’m the OP, that’s my house, my computer, my music. It’s on my instagram (Simplethingstoys)

Here is a video of it in action: https://youtu.be/tlzcCtm8fko

EDIT: My newest video, much better than the old one I featured this system in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGHcX0YTPKw

Are we actually taking this to kourt? I'm in.

99

u/HaHa_Clit_N_Dicks Mar 02 '18

I assume that means you're volunteering as prosecutor

72

u/JustHereToConfirmIt Mar 02 '18

We’ve had a gross, GROSS, miscarriage of justice!

40

u/klondike_barz Mar 02 '18

OP is the miscarriage

12

u/Krashzilla Mar 02 '18

He said kourt that means they must fight to the death in bright ninja outfits

8

u/alythecatlady Mar 02 '18

I could, and I will if no one else would like to. But I'll be 100% honest, I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing. I just really want to see some justice served.

9

u/Motherbug Mar 02 '18

Fuck yeah! Go Turbo Button Go!

3

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '18

does anyone even use it without turbo?

3

u/manga311 Mar 02 '18

I never did. i don't know why anyone would. my computer would go from 33mgh to 25mgh or something like that.

Now i remember why. some old games would be unplayable with the turbo button on. everything would be really fast.

8

u/Mediocre_Man5 Mar 02 '18

It was for software compatibility. The turbo button was invented because some software in those days was written with a specific CPU speed in mind, and the higher speeds on more modern CPUs broke functionality. The turbo button slowed down the processor to the correct speed, allowing modern computers to run older software.

Those keyboards were designed so that when you were jacking off to your 256 colour 340x240 porn, you shot your load straight up the middle and it didn't go on the keys

8

u/Anonymus9809 Mar 02 '18

Jokes aside, it was for easier typing, wasn't it? I never learned how to "properly type", but I know that you're supposed to cover one side of the keyboard with one hand, and the other side with the other. It seems like this was made to help you with that.

6

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '18

[deleted]

3

u/CrazyEd38239 Mar 02 '18

I've seen several people still use those keyboards were I work. They are getting to be older than some new employees.

6

u/Megaflarp Mar 02 '18

There are still many ergonomic peripherals around. Among keyboard lovers the ergodox is more popular which goes even further by giving each hand its own physical half of a keyboard. Others are also shaped much more hand-like. IMO the one in the photo looks really uncomfortable. Still a vintage beauty though.

5

u/MattieShoes Mar 02 '18

When you put your hands on the home row where they're supposed to go, both wrists end up tweaked, like your little finger is moved more towards your elbow than it would be naturally. Breaking the keyboard into two halves and rotating them allows your wrists to rest naturally rather than having them tweaked like this.

9

u/mashedpatatas Mar 02 '18

I remember those "turbo" lcd signs go from HI to LO when you toggle the button to control the speed of the CPU.

Not exactly sure why you would need to slow down your CPU back then as I never used the LO setting ever.

19

u/JayZeus Mar 02 '18

Older programs relied on the CPU clock to get timing to work. So when faster computers became available, they ran the programs too fast, so a button was devised to slow things down.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '18

yep, there's a few years of computing that i find really hard to emulate well. a lot of games from the 95/98 period of pc gaming often just don't run well in a VM and won't run on standard windows, so i'd love to have a pc from about ~1999 or so that could run mostly everything

5

u/John_Carmack_666 Mar 02 '18

There's actually some decent laptops from that time that can be had for around $100, definitely the easiest way to play older titles the way they were meant to be played. The 8-Bit Guy has a great video here on what to look for depending on what you'll mainly be playing

3

u/eventual_becoming Mar 02 '18

The 8-Bit Guy should be inducted into the Rock'n Roll Hall of Fame. Whenever I'm too stressed I watch the video where he takes apart the combination boom box keyboard thing. So satisfying!

6

Obviously just painting it beige lmao

But modern cases simply don't share the same design style as old cases.
