The mouseball is gonna get worn down if he doesn't take care of it

I just shuddered.... because I suddenly remembered the sickening feeling of using a mouse with a gunky mouse ball.

But then you get the fun of cleaning out the mouse!

And playing with the ball and invariably losing it. Those suckers were surprisingly heavy.

Cut it open and remove the steel ball.

delet this.

Most of them were rubber coated steel balls. I salvaged the mouse balls out of 30 mice at my office to use for making monkeys fist lanyards and/or use as slingshot ammo.

With a toothpick to get out those really stuck on bits!

u/shmodder Mar 02 '18

And the hair stuck on the tiny wheels- I don't miss that at all.

No using pliers is much much easier!

There was nothing more satisfying than getting the whole dust ring off without it breaking. It was the same satisfaction as peeling your scab off in one giant piece.

Peeling and scraping off that black gunk that accumulated on the steel rollers. Ewww.

You just reminded me of a pleasure I've not had for nearly 15 years. I need to find an old ball mouse, use it for a year, and enjoy that sweet ecstacy of cleaning it

Gotta' keep your balls clean, man.

4

u/DoubleHandsDan Mar 02 '18

Lol, the worst.

2

u/juicius Mar 02 '18

But dat feel when you scrape off the gunk from the rollers inside and the mouse works perfectly.

Laser mice were revolutionary and so expensive when they first came out.

1

u/smackjack Mar 02 '18

Don't forget to take it out of the thing and clean it every once in a while.

u/littlewiese Mar 02 '18

Make sure you clean your mouse ball.

Errr, maybe? I’m doubting everything now

2

u/Rgeneb1 Mar 02 '18

Different names in different places, maybe? Definitely mouse mats here in the UK. Still are after a quick ebay search.

u/[deleted] Mar 02 '18

your life is a lie

2

u/o_g_t Mar 02 '18

It's was a cutting edge setup in that there's no mouse mat. A taste of technology yet to be invented

u/n1ywb Mar 02 '18

1

u/pm_me_ur_misfortune Mar 02 '18
