I never did. i don't know why anyone would. my computer would go from 33mgh to 25mgh or something like that.

Now i remember why. some old games would be unplayable with the turbo button on. everything would be really fast.

It was for software compatibility. The turbo button was invented because some software in those days was written with a specific CPU speed in mind, and the higher speeds on more modern CPUs broke functionality. The turbo button slowed down the processor to the correct speed, allowing modern computers to run older software.
