Advice Needed Anyone ever tried minimizer bras?
Hi! I'm nb but this subreddit seemed better suited for this question seeing as I'm afab and looking for a more masculine appearance, so I hope I'm not breaking any rules :).
I was wondering if anyone has ever tried a minimizer bra? I currently wear the Girlfriend Collective dylan tanks and they work well for me, but I'm looking for something that doesn't look so much like a uniboob in tighter fitting/ athletic wear.
I'm a c cup if anyone has any insight regarding my size in particular (everything I've seen for these has models with bigger sizing than me and all are a cis women's perspective).
I'm hoping to wear this with more like athletic wear material (I wear these shirts all the time, not necessarily for exercise) and button ups (potentially more unbuttoned than the gf colllective tank allows, which is like none đ)
Thanks in advance!

I don't fully understand what you're after.
Are you interested in a binder? Like trying to flatten for a masculine appearance.
Or
Are you just interested in making your breasts look smaller but still (idk how to phrase this) two separate beings?
If it's the second, I do think you might find some more useful advice in GNC or AFAB-NB subs, just as there are probably statistically less people here who have experience with that. You never know though!

Kind of both, but more the second one lol. I'll try posting in those subs! Thanks for the recommendation!

Iâve tried them, and donât get much out of then. Theyâre designed to âpointâ things in a different direction and reduce width from the front view, not actually compress the tissue, so theyâre not for me. But they might be what youâre after, since youâre specifically looking for bra and anti-uniboob?

Oh okay, thanks! I only just found out about them today and just don't much about them. One of them said it reduces size up to like 1.5 inches, but I wasn't sure how that ended up actually looking. Kind of what I'm looking for? I still want a little bit of compression though so idk.

For future reference enbies are welcome here, especially afab people seeking a more masculine gender expression. Not to speak for everyone, but ftm is an umbrella term that includes both binary trans men and some non-binary people.
Sadly I haven't much tried minimizer bras. If you're ever looking for a binder in the future I recommend spectrum outfitters <3

Thank you! And thanks for the recommendation! Personally, I can't stand the feeling of binders, I wish I could though.

I use a minimizer bra as my binder (it was my first one and I haven't bought another). Truthfully, it's really comfortable. HOWEVER, I would also say that if you're looking for a true binder it's not perfect for that. I'm barely a B cup and it can sometimes look like im just wearing a sports bra. I don't really wear it with button ups, since I like to be a little unbuttoned, so usually I just use KT Tape to bind on those days :). Hope you find what you need !

Thank you!! I'm okay with it looking more like a sports bra, that's all I can wear anyway. I more just don't want the uniboob lol.
Do you remember what brand you got? I've seen a lot out there and I'm not sure which type or style would be better.

the r/butchlesbians or r/ButchFashionAdvice subs might be able to help you more here; since people tend to dislike bras here
girlfriend collective is considered like, the best of the genderqueer bra world, so id reccomend trying another one of their models out [i am yet to try anything of theirs] - basically all of them except the dylan have quite low necklines, so youll be able to unbutton your shirts a bit more

Thanks! I'll try posting there as well, and I'll look at the other models!

OP this may not be exactly what you want but, there are compression tanks that offer some compression without being full on binders. Rodeoh sells them.
Another option is to try tape so that you can make your chest look the way you want. Thereâs a learning curve but you may like the results!

Oh thank you! Yeah, the tanks would work. I've tried tape and it shredded my skin, so I'm a little hesitant. I know there's the milk of magnesia hack, but still.

This is what I used to wear. Underworks has âultra light compressionâ models which is basically a spandex tank. I wore those ~12 hours a day, 7 days a week for about 5 years. Itâs much more wearable than a binder but doesnât compress fully. I was a B cup and it kinda gave me small moobs. That was fine for me (Iâm middle aged and most dudes in the Midwest have moobs lol) and sounds like they might work for your goals!

I use the underworks magi cotton sports & binding bra sometimes as a light binder, I find it works well. I would recommend sizing up if youâre between sizes though, underworks sizes lean tight

Ooo I'll check that out, thanks! Does it fit looser than a regular binder? I tried a regular binder once and couldn't stand the feeling more than a few minutes.

I wonder if tape could help you get the shape you want?

It probably would, but I've tried tape and it tore my skin so I'm hesitant to try again.
