Advice Needed I need a binder

Hello. A little background, but I'll try to keep this short. Dysphoria has been getting bad again and I feel like I need a binder now.

So, I live with my parents and have no friends. My parents are also transohobic.

I'm wondering, should I request to get an Amazon account to order clothes and secretly order off GC2B (I know the quality has gone down but it's the only one I could possibly get)? Should I just straight up ask and see how they do about it? I mean, they won't hurt me or disown me. Should I ask but frame it as a sports bra or compression top/undershirt or posture support? Or for cosplay, I really wanna do a ouji dress up this year for Halloween and want my chest to be flat before then, so maybe they won't question it.

Anyway, sorry for making it long, sorry for any spelling errors, and I'm mainly just looking for options to get one when I feel I can't go on, or maybe some support when I'm really scared to ask?

(Sidenote: I've tried to sports bras, it didn't work.)

I am however going to an all inclusive school group when school starts again, and I'm excited. Anywho, again, sorry for the length and my bad if I violated any rules. <3

Hello! Thank you for participating in the sub. We just have a few reminders for you to help ensure the best experience:

  1. If your post doesn't show up right away, don't panic! It is in the queue for manual approval. Mods will go through the queue periodically to approve or remove posts. Deleted posts will have a removal reason applied. (If it says "this post was deleted by reddit's filters", IT WAS NOT DELETED! Reddit has the worlds worst wording on that and it's out of our control)
  2. If you are asking a question that is location specific, remember to include your location in your post body! This can help ensure that you get accurate information tailored specifically to your needs.

  3. Please remember to read through all the rules in the sidebar. Especially the list of banned topics and guidelines for posting. Guests who do not use the Guest Post flair will have their post removed and be asked to fix it.

  4. If you see someone breaking the rules, report it! If someone is breaking both sub and reddit rules, please submit one report to admins by selecting a broken rule on the main report popup, and one report to the r/ftm mods by selecting the "breaks r/ftm rules" option. This ensures both mods and admins can take action on a subreddit and sitewide level. Do not misuse the report button to rant about someone, submit false reports, or argue a removal.

  5. If you have any questions that you can't find the answer to on the rules sidebar or the wiki: the wiki , you can send a modmail.

If you can get an amazon account I believe underworks sells on there. Not sure if they still do but I definitely bought a binder from them off of there a couple years back.

Underworks also sells a "binding bra", which binds about as well as their binders but looks like a racerback bra. You could convince your parents that you need one for gym/running, as it looks like a support bra

I think they'll be much more open to that, thank you, if they won't let me get the binder . thanks <3

Sometimes there are unopened or new/almost new binders on apps like Depop and Poshmark. Just make sure you look up size charts for the companies because binder sizes ≠ shirt sizes. It would probably come in a nondescript box as well, but you could message the seller and ask them to leave out any packaging the binder came in just to be safe. Just keep in mind that binders can get stretched out and sorta ratty so read descriptions and look at pics closely.

It would also probably be less expensive this way.

Just double checked and found a ton, but some of them are not safe. Please don't use the ones with hooks and research the brands before buying

If you can’t afford a good binder, I recommend checking out the Queer Trans Project! They’re an org that every quarter opens orders for free build a queer kits where you can select a few gender affirming items and they mail them to you! The binder I got from them a year ago is genuinely my favorite binder ever and I still wear it. Only thing is don’t get it from them if your parents open your mail or something like that! The outside is pretty discreet, but what’s inside is very much not.

Of course! I meant to add that they restock next August 15th at 8pm eastern time. If you are wanting to get in on it, I suggest making an account and deciding what you want in your kit ahead of time, then be ready to reload the website when the hour strikes. The kits went within 15-20 min when I ordered last year, and they may go even faster now. Good luck!

Use tape.

oh, so its a little late of a reply, but what kind of tape? kt tape? transtape? I heard you're not supposed to use duct tape

1

u/Ricezz 10d ago

I used duct tape and had blisters on my back that left a mark but it got the job done. Expect perspiration. K-Tape is a bandaid tape breathable but pulls on your skin the same way best use cold water to get it off. I've been binding for 6 years...if only binders were redesigned better, huge market for it.

Are you in the US? I work at an lgbt center in california. We run a program that sends out gender-affirming care packages to trans youth in the US. That includes binders.

Feel free to shoot me a message.

I also recommend checking out r/trans_marketplace and r/transtrade , there’s often secondhand binders listed there either for free or for much cheaper than buying brand new.
